Favorite lines from Chapter Five?

edited December 2009 in Tales of Monkey Island
I laughed very, very hard during this chapter. I got tickled silly. I had to actually stop the game at one point and go lie down, because when I laugh too hard my head hurts and I get a migraine, and that's what happened here. That's the third time Telltale's done this in 2009. Good job!

At the same time, there many genuinely touching moments, just little things that made the whole thing so much better. I'd like to take this opportunity to call the writers a bunch of sexy geniuses. Writers: you are sexy geniuses.

What were some of your favorite lines? I had quite a few, but Guybrush's "He killed me for lemonade" line (I don't remember the exact quote, and I'm way too happy basking in the warm glow of the aftermath of a great adventure to want to check; but it was his mishearing of Morgan's dying words) is probably the best Monkey Island line ever.

Quote away. I'll properly contribute when my head's stopped spinning. (That's good!)

"Good news, sir! I found the Map!"
  • edited December 2009
The first that came to my mind sounded something like
"And he'll rue the day he met Guybrush Threepwood and I STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT 'RUE' MEANS!"
    It was hilarious.
    There are many more though.
"Remember our map, sir?" (oh, and the "I've found the map!")
    And
    "Papapishu that hurts"
    And many more.

Guybrush: "Ooh! Scrolls, parchments and MAPS! Winslow would be so happy!"
  • edited December 2009
If you click on all the sextants or the maps in the thief's room, Guybrush says "Oh man, Winslow would LOVE this" or something.

The insult swordfighting was pretty great, wasn't it? Lovely twist on the idea.

i surrender, send me to jail

    i kidnapped my own body
    "FAIR ENOUGH, lets go!"

"No, I guess you're just ugly."

I wondered if it was a reference to the Disturbing Art thread.

When Guybrush looks at the skull candle in Club 41:
"Bwahaha, it's me, Murray, the demonic skull. Cower before my wax-caked forehead!"

    (or something like that)

As much as I loved that, I can't in good conscience not point out that Futurama did it first.

    G: *srs face*

    T: hifive!

What was it that Guybrush said he thought were Morgan's dying words? Because I was laughing pretty hard at that.

But there's too many good lines to choose from.

I thought the best line was when Guybrush was making fun of Bugeye.
He said something along the lines of "Look at me! I'm Bugeye! I like to get in on manatee makeout sessions and ride merfolk around!" *while prancing about*

    Winslow:
"Sexyfish. It's an expression I picked up while on the Limbo(?) Islands."

    Guybrush:
"C'mon, Morgan. I just lost my wife." (So sad, and the voice-acting was perfect in this scene.)

Winslow (this quote is probably going to be quite inaccurate, but you get the gist):
"Oh I wouldn't, sir. We're making a new game; rock, paper... and I say, fountain pen. Jacques disagrees, and, well, he gets a little bitey about it."

    Guybrush:
"Mo' money, mo' ability to solve puzzles."

    "On yer feet, Mo'!"

Morgan's reaction when she finds out Guybrush has been keeping a dog in his coat is just priceless.

Oh, and some of the lines (I can't remember any at the time) when you click on stuff on the ship make me wanna laugh, but then cry, because of his tone of voice.

I started cracking up when I heard Lechuck say "Oh c'mon! I broke your spirit, not your back!" as well as Guybrush mocking Bugeye, I purposely lost just so I can see Guybrush do it again XD.

Also when Winslow was depressed about Lechuck taking the map down. He sounded to let down about that map.

Also when you ask the Treasure Hunting dude (his name escapes me) for help regarding the whisper from the diet of the senses, and he mentions what he thinks he heard the tiny pyrite parrots say. I can't remember the exact quote but it was hilarious!

I laughed so hard at "before i could even say sexyfish"
and the whole serious face between the thief and guybrush

Hahaha yeah, something about outdated shrubbery!?

And Captain Mickey, you're right, the back quotation was an absolute classic. Absolute. Classic.

I didn't have to lose on purpose, I didn't get the point of the puzzle the first time, so I went with Sister Agnes. And seeing it again was just a bonus of being a bit slow. :D

It's not a humorous line, but when Guybrush contemplated the wedding ring's power to re-open the portal, I couldn't help but smile. In any other story, it'd be painfully cheesy, but Dom nailed that line so well.

Followed by "Hey! Is someone implying I have mites?"

Most of W.P. Grindstump's lines are keepers, but I think the best one was the shout out to The Music Man:
"That witch is trouble with a capital T, and that rhymes with V, and that stands for Voodoo!"

And for some reason, I couldn't stop laughing at Bugeye shouting "What part of 'i DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT' DIDN'T YOU UNDERSTAND?"

Was very homer simpson that part.

The scream Guybrush let out when one of the crossed bones fell off the sign, followed by: "Huh. You're still a punk." I thought I'd DIE laughing.

For some reason, I really liked "Threepy!", too, although it didn't fit into the scene.

Best line and probably also best moment for me was when your on LeChucks ship for first time and just before you try to pick up the sword and click on the mast instead Guybrush once again says the "Thats the mast" line and both LeChuck and Elaines expressions after he says it are just priceless

None of Elaine's comebacks at that point actually fit into the scene if you ask me. Actor tried to give a feeling I believe, but she sounded rather quirky.

    Guybrush: "That's the mast!"
And then LeChuck and Elaine look each other..
That's when you click on the mast before trying to pick the cutlass as a ghost.

Aha! I accidentally clicked on the mast the time I tried to get the cutlass, and after that scene I couldn't play the game for a minute or so. It just GOT me.
