also also: I'll do drownedbrush both versions tommorow also. The caught with pants down is a bit unfair though.
I'm not sure if this first bit here is directed at me because my post didn't even make mention of LCR. Personally I do enjoy EFMI more as I am more familiar with the story, I've owned the game longer, etc. but if holding that opinion suddenly makes me a troll well then I guess that would make you a hypocrite, eh? If it's not supposed to be directed at me then sorry for misunderstanding but I didn't see any post anywhere say anything of the sort.
Why do you consider the "caught with pants down" as being "a bit unfair"? As far as I can recall it's the only time in MI history that we ever see Guybrush's undergarments and what with all the talk around these parts of Guybrush being "sex on legs" I'm sure there are plenty of people who would want it included.

You left it out in order to spark a discussion that would turn your thread into a conversation about the very thing you pretend to hate, but others really do.
In essence you have achieved...
I'm honoured although it seriously wasn't my goal.
Since people are hating Escape, I just have to say it's my least favorite of the Monkey Island games with Monkey Kombat, Rock launching, Grandpa Marley = Herman, and LeChuck is a henchman. But I don't think it's worth ignore the whole game cause of that. Some of it I enjoyed playing and considering Lucasarts wasn't making to any other adventure games in 2000, I was glad to get another Monkey Island chapter. I only replayed the whole thing once, but I think there's worse adventure games out there (for some reason King's Quest V comes to mind with it's illogical puzzles.)
Oh and MI1SE Guybrush wouldn't look so bad if his hair didn't look so weird.
I think my favorite look for him is his MI2 outfit. I was glad he wore something similar in Tales.
That makes much more sense now that I realize the context of it.
But the post didn't indicate what specifically he was referencing and part of his post did directly address part of my post, hence the confusion.
There's another one missing from EFMI. In the Easter Egg where Murray comes out while Guybrush is changing clothes for the diving contest, Guybrush comes out half naked!
i think my favourite design is the orignal Lechucks revenge Guybrush, sadly he hasnt got much of a roughed up beard in the Special edition, and i think its weird seeing him with blonde hair instead of Brown in Lechucks revenge, looking at the screenshots, to be honest i dont like CMI Guybrush,i found him too lanky(doesnt mean i dont like the game,i enjoyed it alot), i think since i grew up on MI2..i was so used to Guybrush like that..and thats why it was easy to love the TOMI Guybrush, because there was referance to MI2 Guybrush, and he had that sweet Jacket
you should capitalize words at the beginning of sentences, and not use so many commas, and use periods, make complete sentences, it helps other people to read it more easily, and use multiple paragraphs when necessary

Short reply: As long it's a man dressed as a pirate, with blond hair in a pony tail and blue eyes, then it's Guybrush Threepwood.
Long Reply: I always saw Guybrush as a lean and lanky person with a long face, ever since Curse.
In Escape I must admit he is a bit more round faced, and short but they kept the hair the same fashion as in Curse. His clothes isn't that pirate-y, but then again he had just come home from his honeymoon and he was the governors husband. So I guess he has to dress a little formal. Except from when he left Meleé Island then he was back in white shirt. The only thing I found really sissy about him, was the white bow in his hair to hold his ponytail.
In Tales he stand true to the lean, lanky and long faced Guybrush I can remember from Curse. His hair in the front is changed slightly but not so much, and of course his ponytail is longer and he has goatee which means he has aged since Curse.
The one point in Tales where it really strikes me, that this is really Guybrush is when he is strapped to De Singes chair. I can just see and aged man since Curse, with the long face, the hair and the blue eyes.
I don't include the 2 first, just because I haven't really played them, but in the Special Edition, they are trying to make him look more like Curse in my opinion, so I think I can say they placed Curse Guybrush as the look they really want for him.
But as long as I see a lean, lanky guy with Blond hair in a pony tail, dressed as a pirate, talking with Mr. Armato's voice and making jokes and fun comments about things, then its Guybrush
If you read the long reply, you'll realize that Curse is the definition of Guybrush, and the first two games aren't the "real" Guybrsh at all. It's only now that the Special Editions(luckily enough!) work to make the "Original" Guybrush look like the Curse version that the person in the first two games is TRULY GUYBRUSH.
...
It took me YEARS to even accept that the guy on-screen in Curse is Guybrush, rather than some new invader that took his name.
Having not read any of this, EMI was an absolutely awful game and I refuse to acknowledge it as part of the canon. Unless they have a good reason why Guybrush apparently went from a naive but intelligent guy merely trapped in a world of goofy people to a complete bumbling idiot who you have to assume stumbled through all the puzzles in the adventure by complete accident, and Elaine went from loving Guybrush to treating him like a child that bothers her too much, all during a single honeymoon, then I just can't include it when I play through the series.
I'll include Curse though, no problem with that.
The way I see it, EMI is like Star Trek: The Animated Series. It's really up to the viewer whether it's canon or not. The only difference is that with EMI, the creators say it's canon and the real fans don't, and with TAS, the creators say it isn't canon and the real fans say it is.
In any case, the MI2 remake looks kinda weird, but I always imagined it would be hard to make the awesome-looking original into a decent HD sprite. If you ask me, it was the MI1 remake version that looked too weird to work. I don't know how that hair seemed like a good idea to anyone at the time.
Holy crap! So does that make Doug Funnie Guybrush and Aladdin's unholy lovechild. .? Or Guybrush the unholy lovechild of Doug and Aladdin. . . .either way, *shudder*
The way I see it, EMI is like Star Trek: The Animated Series.
I've been thinking of it lately as a Star Wars Prequal. You can almost compare fan reactions to releases in both series.
We've got the revered original, with the classic story structure and blonde hero.
Then even more revered sequal with the more fractured story and "I am your [relative!]" ending
Then the third chapter which is generally considered pretty good but maybe unecesarrily cute in parts.
Next comes the fourth installment (or prequal in the SW case) with fan reaction of "this was so bad I refuse to accept this as canon!" reaction.
I guess this would make Tales the Clone Wars, but I have a feeling that SW fans aren't enjoying Clones Wars as much as MI fans are enjoying Tales.
On the subject of EMI I've been thinking on this a lot recently. I've decided that EMI was some sort of Hallucination. That's why it's so inconsistent with the cannon. In a dream nothing stays consistent very long and you see people and thing you recognize but they seem out of place. Hence why Guybrush meets Otis and Carla first. He's on Melee in this dream and he remembers them from Melee. This could also explain why LeChuck keeps changing form, Guybrush has fought all three forms in the past and subconsciously sees them all as a threat.
I won't go into insane detail but that's what makes the most logical sense to me.
Also favorite design would be either ToMI or MI2 I love the Jacket!

Btw, did you draw that?

Lemona- is so much better.

CMI Guybrush is the piratey grown-up version of Doug Funnie!
. . . with blonde hair.
I always thought that his design is self-portrait of Larry Ahern
I'll include Curse though, no problem with that.

P.S. I completely agree with amadeus.

That's funny. And one of the reasons I love localisations!
What's the chap's name?

. .if Tulio had been blonde, that is.
It's like the two of them had a kid
