And here's the thing: those won't be HER children she has to raise, pay for, and take care of. I'm not having children to"gift" someone. Children aren't iPods. You're stuck with them for life, even if they cost millions to repair and can't be traded in after water damage. Sure, your mother can coo over and borrow them for a while, but she'll spoil them rotten and then give them back when she's done having fun.
Thankfully, it wouldn't be that bad. It's my mother's actual job to eliminate developmental deficits in 3 to 6 year olds (some kind of kindergarten special care). She doesn't spoil kids. For many, she's more of a real mother than they will ever have. And she'd probably even gladly pay for what's not hers from the incredibly scarce money she earns. I'm not an only child, I have a younger brother and an older sister, but both are severely unlikely to give my mother grandchildren for various reasons. I don't find my mother's wish unnerving, I just find the pressure she puts on me specifically to be more than a bit unfair.
(And this is why I should never be allowed to raise children. The experiments... *shiftyeyes*)
And that's why I always feel sorry for kids with psychologist parents. You have a thousand experiments run on you before you even know what's going on.

Better to have regular psychologists as parents rather than this:
"Oh! But think of all the testing that could be done! "
One of the things that's awful about this forum is its randomness. Well, this is the sad epitome of it: a thread for whatever inane thought happens to be passing through your mind.
For example, I think I might be a little jaded.
It's good that you said that but I think your wrong this is a good thread and everything that happens here is so good! It's good we have this thread to share how it's a good life we have . And tomorrow will be a real good day.
I'd have your clone, but I'd raise it in very different conditions and then analyse the results...
Hmm. I was always interested in knowing how I would have turned out if, instead of traditional schooling, I'd just had tutors who allowed me to learn what ever I was interested in. And no grades.
I think I would have ended up spending all my time with history and astrophysics. Because when I was a kid, that's what I was really interested in. Oh, also paleontology.
It helps that I'm one of those people who still has the cognitive ability and awareness to look at the screen, while impaired, before hitting "reply". In fact, typing that just now has made me realise that I do not care for the association between "drunk" and "impaired". It just feels wrong when it's something that is temporary and self inflicted. Eh, maybe it's just me. I tend to ramble while intoxicated.
I need a study Bible, not a easy reading one. Easy reading one is for church and personal time, I need one that's very literal. My second degree was in theology so from time to time I do in depth study work. Most likely I'll get a New American Standard Bible.
Though honestly if I could get my hands on a Geneva Bible I'd be thrilled. The historic significance of the thing really appeals to my research into Protestant history.

By "study bible" do you mean a Bible that you intend to use for study with separate materials you may have/want, or do you mean a Bible that has additional information for study in the margins and such of said Bible? ...or both?
On a similar topic, my father-in-law's birthday is this month, and we celebrated it this weekend. We gave him an NIV (2011) Life-Application Study Bible, and also gave an NLT Life-Application Study Bible to my mother-in-law for Mother's Day.
It didn't. He asked a question until someone would give a mature response, and I asked follow-up questions.
Why are you threatened about the topic? You hide it with apparent laughter, but I can still tell.
Because the idea of the Judeo-Christi-Islamic god is ridiculous and vaguely insulting. If such a god exists, why does he let us suffer? I'm currently watching someone about whom I care immensely go through the hardest period in their life.
I won't divulge what it is or who it is, but that a god could stop it and chooses not to makes me wonder why, if said god existed, people would worship it. It sickens me. That people could believe in a being who allows the sick things that happen in our world and worship it for it is the most absolutely revolting thing that I can think of and it makes me want to vomit.
So, you want to know why I'm threatened by it? It's because if he's real, your god is an evil, twisted little shit. He's like the kid from the Twilight Zone, and we're all his toys. Fuck god.
You're certainly free to have that position on the matter.
I'm sorry that someone you care about is suffering. For what it's worth, I'll pray for you/them about it.
Why bother? Your religion teaches that god has a plan in mind already. I highly doubt praying would make god derail all of fate to change something that god had in mind. I thank you for the sentiment, but I really just don't understand what you think it will accomplish. If god didn't want this to happen, he wouldn't be allowing it.
Chris, shut up about telling other people to shut up. People can be free to talk about what they want. Quit being an intolerant asshole.
I wasn't telling anyone to shut up. I was just wondering why we're talking about the bible when it's based on ridiculous promises and unprovable assumptions. Besides, even if I'm intolerant of religion, I have yet to hear where exactly I'm wrong, especially given the points I've raised on the nature of the Abrahamic god.
I think he was just making repeated attempts at having a legitimate, mature conversation about it.

I meant for personal study I need something as grammatically accurate as possible, word for word, which translations like the NLT are not. I have individual materials I use to go along with it, as I tend to dislike internal commentaries or study aids included with Bibles, as I find them desperately lacking in terms of information.

Quoting Mike Jacobsen:

I was actually that exact same thing earlier! XD
(Gladiator for clones/children)

GLaDOS as a mom would be awesome. Especially if Darth Vader is the dad, too.

And yet your typing seems to be legible. Props to you sir.
Holy crap I didn't know we could do this!

Finally, a Bible I can get behind!
Serious question, though: when did this thread turn into Jesusland? Bible this, bible that.
I was thinking of getting a book by L. Ron Hubbard.
It didn't. He asked a question until someone would give a mature response, and I asked follow-up questions.

In any case, I wasn't meaning to offend anyone, but I am actually interested in what Daishi was talking about.

What will I conquer Next you ask...well to tell you the truth. I'm going to sit on my ass and play some Max Payne.
Good call and congratulations.
I guess not everything is free to be discussed.
Apparently, some mods have issues with dachshunds

You could do some serious damage with that.
*slump*
Though I do need a new Bible.

Seriously. You can ebay that. Just do that.
