How is Deadman Wonderland? I only have heard of the name.
I think of Deadman Wonderland as an anime that tries way too hard. I watch it and it feels like it really wants to be deeper and grittier and tougher than it actually is. It's not a series I'd personally think of as a good one. Still, in terms of content and at least intended tone, the show is a very odd choice for what I think most are expecting to be a nostalgic "children's show block" like Nick at Night's "The 90s were All That" block.
You singled out Deadman, so I must assume you're at least *aware* of Casshern Sins. Thoughts?

I saw bits of Cassahern while I was actually living in Japan. I don't like big robot anime. I don't know where the dislike comes from; just cannot stand it.

I'm guessing you DID see Sins and not reruns of the 1970s series, right? Because the difference really couldn't be more stark and I actually really enjoy both.
Also:
REALLY?! Okay okay okay, as someone who absolutely ADORES giant robot anime(it's a MAJOR weakness of mine), I'm going to have to pull up some "giant robot anime for people who hate giant robot anime" titles and try them out on you. It's an experiment. For science!

Trying to burn through FMA Brotherhood right now. Gimmie like 2 weeks to finish (and finish my classes) and I'll try Morel Orel and one mech anime of your choosing.
Also, yes, I saw Sins. Japan is notoriusly bad about NEVER RUNNING RERUNS. Which is why Japan pumps out so much crap TV. They won't replay anything- not even high run shows- more than once. Sell more DVDs that way, I guess.

With the cost of DVDs over there, it's surprising that they sell ANY sometimes. Also, I'm surprised you don't at least respect how they adapted and modernized that 1970s anime look, if nothing else. Sins is a really pretty show, which is helped by the fight scenes actually being really well choreographed.
This reminds me that I need to catch up on those anime DVDs I have lurking in my CD folder.
Twilight Zone is my main priority, but I guess I could squeeze in an episode or two of Bleach or Soul Eater.
(Don't worry I only have 2 seasons of Bleach. I had countless warnings of the shows' diminishing quality, so I decided to set a cut-off point on that one. (Then again I liked Akikan and To Love Ru, so my taste might be a little void in general! XD))

If you plan on watching BLEACH, I believe it's 5 seasons (by the ENDING song) that you want to see. I can't remember the exact count but that's about 60 episodes- to the end of the Soul Society arc. Then it sucks.
On another note, I tried watching FMA Botherhood three years ago when it foist released in Japan, but I stopped after the fourth episode or so. Big mistake. I'm watching it again, and at about episode 7 the pacing improves greatly. I think they did a rush job on the first few because they were trying to get to the point of divergence very quickly. They skiipped way too much in the process that actually was important (the mining town and train hijacking) to prevent them for looking like they were rehashing the old anime. Once they hit Rush Valley the pacing improves drastically.
There are also a few interesting animes on Netflix.
Shame that its English dub on most of them.
(I only like dubs when they are good)
Gurren Lagann looks like a good one to watch. Caught an episode or two and I thought it was pretty good.
The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya was good as well, (though not seeing the series, meant I struggled a little to get a few things. But its does provide a good level of exposition here and there, so you can just roll with it! ).
Baccano! I've seen before (and thought it was great. I'd recommend that! )
Ghost in the Shell stuff I need to catch up on.
Hmmm...
Edit: My best friend is really into manga/anime. Watches stuff that makes me blush! XD
(Harem comedies and really dark stuff are his particular favourites. I find sometimes they push the sex or the violence too far. Make it a little blatant and uncomfortable. A lot of things could easily just be implied rather than shown.... -_-)
I'm not even going to ask him for a recommendation list! XD

I watched eureka seven on there the other day. It was good, but I had no idea what was going on for most of it!
Tell me I'm not the only person who doesn't get the appeal of the Big Bang Theory.
I only watched one episode and it had George Takei in it. My brother loves it, though. I'm not even sure if he gets all the jokes because he doesn't really embrace the nerd culture beyond Starcraft.
Are you having your guy come along... or is that the absolute me time?
He would love to come, but just started a new job (the reason he moved to SF) and won't be able to take leave for a while. I'm going with a very dear friend from uni... we travelled together through Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Costa Rica almost 2 years ago. Very much looking forward to making locals laugh with our incredibly bad Spanish again.
If the dude and I stay together long term, we will almost certainly spend a month or two backpacking around South America at some point. Most likely sometime before I become a self-made millionaire in my 30s and chuck it all in to raise babies.
UGLY DEFORMED SHlT WlTH DULL PLASTlC COLORS AND CROOKED MISMATCHED EYES AND TERRIBLE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS AND TERRIBLE FACIAL ANATOMY AND DESIGN^
Why would anyone watch something so UGLY.
Two things- 1) you're comparing the FMA movie animation which had a crazy high buget with the FMA Brotherhood tv animation. And 2) I'm blind so when I say watching I mean listening to. It has a good story and emotional voice work. That's good enough for me.
Bullshit. The original series had animation just as good. Small budgets don't excuse some of the SHITTIEST art I have ever seen. Good story in Brotherhood is a matter of opinion.
I can't find a lot of gifs that aren't of shitty Brotherhood, but I can provide more than enough screencaps to prove my point. Here:
Guess which one is Brotherhood. The deformed ugly shitty art might give it away.

Fawful, I'm not going to fight with you. I love FMA to death and comparing Brotherhood to it (especially artistically, but FMA had a better score, too), is stupid. FMA is brilliant. But this doesn't mean that Brotherhood is garbage.
It seems pretty fair to me, but I don't have to compare the two to call Brotherhood terrible. I'm comparing them because so many people call FMA shit while proclaiming Brotherhood to be the best of the best. Sure, I looked at Brotherhood on its own merits, but its terrible on all counts. Its story has plenty of good traits and good ideas but its poorly executed here, making it meaningless overall. This isn't a personal fight. This is an objective critique made from countless hours made examining every aspect of the series. Sure, I have too much time on my hands, but I know what I'm saying nevertheless.
I mean look at this on its own terms. This is how the series typically looks. The facial characteristics are so poorly drawn it's bizarre. The background artwork is filled with terrible filters, bland colors, ugly lighting, and a weird crayola vibe that isn't just bad, but it doesn't FIT the series. The background art remains mediocre and typical throughout the whole show. Most of the show's art is ugly and terrible, so when the animation does get better and more extravagant during key scenes like Mustang vs. Lust or Greed. vs. Wrath, it doesn't get masterful, it just raises to competent but no moreso than anything else out there. It doesn't even surpass Naruto. Brotherhood is garbage, and I don't understand why anyone would watch it once they've examined it objectively.
I don't like Brotherhood because, since it came out, it's been extremely difficult to locate specific songs from the soundtrack since every search gets cluttered with Brotherhood music.
Hence, I've had to do my entire piano transposition from memory and there's one chord that just sounds plain wrong and I can't find the original to figure out where I made my mistake! *pant pant*
Stupid Brotherhood... ruining my transposition hobby. Guess I'll just have to stick with trying to crack Grimrock's soundtrack now. Or maybe Avengers!
I don't care about that anymore- Zoloft is making my heart pump out of my chest and if I keep arguing the adrenaline is going to make me heave all over and have panic seizures all up in here.

Physically impossible. You can only breed one. Noob.

I hope David Tennant lights the big one~

Almost as bad as the people seeing me play pokemon and saying "Well I have a level 20 Charizard, what now?".:p
I'm not a fan.

Holy shit my eyes are wide.
The Brotherhood one? It's a digital filter of some sort. If you mean my photo, that's just webcam grain.
I hate modern aesthetics, but I'll be damned if Tatami Galaxy wasn't the most gorgeous anime I've seen in ages.
There is no dub... there is only the Force.
I'm thinking fandub. I'll VO Ozu, The Protagonist, The Master, Jogasaki and Akashi. Anyone else want to handle the others?
CASTING CALL, GO.
