Maybe a Sam Doll is one of the Toys of Power.

Maybe a voodoo doll is a cross-reference too far.

Even those were clones, or robots or anything, do not exclude the most important question of this chapter: Why Sam? Any ideas?

Is it just me who thinks Sams' underpants are too well-shaped? Kinda disturbing and NSFW or kids.

So, we're discussing Sam's underpants now?

Sam is extremely tough if he's pushed far enough, He's also so heavy he steps on everyone and crushes them. The Clones I mean.

We'll have answers, of a sort. Until then my friend, sleep well.

    Why Sam?

He's capable of solving intricate inventory puzzles? Max trusts him? Neither Sam nor Max would want to harm them?

Or...hm...perhaps someone's trying to provide Max with an army, for the coming apocalypse? Who knows. I don't. :p

    Hey! That's a good one!

Now, with all that speculation going on, with all these screenshots and the recent heat wave and all, last night I had one of the weirdest dreams ever. I don't want to go into detail, but it revolved around me being pursued by an army of zombi-like anthropomorphic dogs in diapers. Later an angry-looking space gorilla armed with a katana went on a rampage slicing through people annoying him ... lengthwise. In the end all the dogs turned into humans wearing Sam's cloths and just randomly went around the scene, while a crime scene investigator looking like Laurence Fishburne complained about the clones corrupting the crime scene. Then the human version of Max (he didn't even look like a human version of Max, I just had the feeling it was him) tried to explain, that they weren't clones but the result of Sam being hit by an exploding transdimensional passage shattering him into multiple beings. I woke up, when a cop who reminded me of Randy Disher from 'Monk' tried to examine one of the victims causing the ventral half of the body to slide of the dorsal part.

Man, I'm never gonna eat three servings of chili con carne with extra pepper sauce before going to bed ever again ...

Because Sam's awesome and deserves as much focus in the plot as he can get. And he's a giant dog in a suit and fedora, what other explanation does there need to be?

If they turn out to be dolls, I called it before episode 1 was released.

This is very true. I remember making a fandomsecret about this a whiiiile back, and so far with Season 3's treatment of Sam, I'm pleased.

Appart of that. Which one is the excuse for such always deserved focus in the plot? (And yeah, we're agree on it ^^!)

I'd guess his relationship with Max, but I'm not sure. I wonder if Sam's ability to see Max's visions is for convenience, or plot related. If it's plot related, that might be a good reason to have Sam clones as well.

Oh, that was you? I remember that secret. I remember someone said in the comments that the games have no characterisation, and although I didn't say anything, I really disagreed with that.

The "Somehow" of his comment when they saw the future vision for first time I found it very strange. I was suspecting Sam has a relation with Max's Powers somehow since that comment, because, if just were for convenience, probably we would hear a somesort of lampshading (Or IT'S a red herring!)

Never mind, I totally misremembered that. The comment that irritated me was
I sympathize, OP, but expecting character-based stuff from Sam & Max is rather like expecting sympathy from a fish.

    Hey Mike,

I have one major important question.
Will the guy being squashed between two buildings FINALLY be in this episode?
You guys have been keeping me waiting since the pre-order of the Devils Playhouse!

Yes, if it were relevant, they would probably point out that Sam has some kind of relation with Max's powers, which we dont really know that he does.

Yh my idea on the thread about this in the main discussion:

The leader of the Sams is revealed in a musical number which he/she sings with the Sams.

    Hey there!

So will we see the real Sam take off his clothes to disguise and move freely among the clones?
(like in Shaun of the Dead but even weirder)

I think it has to do with his long lasting relationship with Max. Or he can really see visions of the future without the Future Specs, but the goggles allow him to get a full vision of the future.

I think just the 'if Sam is touching Max he gets the powers too' idea makes more sense.

Then how could he see the future when he was battling Skunkape in "They Stole Max's Brain"?

    That time contridicted itself there.

I believe one vision max told sam what he saw(you're going to win) While another vision sam claimed to had seen it and said he wanted a better angle at looking at the vision.

I think they just cut out the parts where Max tells Sam what happened to remove some repetitiveness that would be deadly annoying.

I do think that the Sam clones are clones of Sam for a reason, though, and that he plays a role in this that none of them know yet.

Max: Hey, Sam! This haunted toy I found just gave me an uncanny vision of our violent future!
Sam: I know I saw it too! Somehow.
Max: Did your version have credits?

    Oh?
Doesn't change much, though. The Sam & Max series are known for shaking off unexplainable things like that for the sake of viewer / player comfort.

How did they drive to the moon that time anyway? How come they could control their souls in 203 AFTER waking up Jurgen when just earlier they could only control their bodies? Where did the toys stuffed into Max's brain tank in 303 go before Sammun-Mak took them back? Where does Max keep his stuff?

didint at the time sam and max have a device to control their sould and put into their bodies. sammunmak still had them with him when he took over the planet. and thats none of your damn buisness.

Normally, I'd dismiss the future vision bit as a one-off gag, but with Mike's mention of Sam being 'important', I can't shake the feeling of an underlying psychic link.

I have a feeling that Dr Norrington is Yog-Soggoth.
You got to be something powerful to appear as nothing and still be able to communicate.
    He was also guiding paperwait...

If Yog-Soggoth in this ep though then Telltale have something BIGGER planed for the finale...

Dr Norrington sounds a lot like The Devil.

What if Dr. Norrington was actually a good guy? Have we really seen any evidence that he is properly up to no good. It wasn't very clear what he was getting Papierwaite to do for hime exactly.

From the looks of things, summon yog soggoth and papierwaite was pretty evil when summoning him in 302 forcing maximus to due so when sammeth was going to be killed if he didnt obey and if he does obey maximus gets destroyed.
