Just thought I'd suggest that this dialogue tree is now surely a part of the trailer conversation between Marty and George in Doc's lab.

With this assumption in mind, I like that George might assume the Doc had died given his extended absence.

Neat, I didn't know there were going to be dialog branches in this as well.

I would have been seriously disappointed if there weren't. Actually, I really hope that dialogue-based puzzles will finally appear in this.
  • edited December 2010
Could you give an example of dialog based puzzles?
I don't quite know what you mean. If I do know what you mean then I am sure those were in S&M S1 too.

Generally, I do not consider "You must talk to this person before you can proceed" as dialogue-based puzzles. It's more the idea that you have to pick the right answers in a series of dialogue lines to achieve something important. Season 1 of S&M had the "Yo' momma"-jokes, but I'm not sure I'd let this count. ;)

I was thinking more of the Max's presidential speech where you first alter the signs and then choose the correct dialogue line accordingly. Does that one count?

Insult Swordfighting/Arm Wrestling from SoMI/CoMI/EMI/ToMI-Ch5 (though in ToMI it's just a small homage) are examples of pure dialogue-based puzzles in my opinion (especially the 'boss' battles in SoMI and CoMI (or the only battle in EMI which is 'boss' battle by default) which do not require you to 'grind' dialogue options but to actually think of an appropriate response).

Does the Newlywed Game from TOMI count?

LOL.. well I was feeling nostalgic so I watched the first 2 BTTF films again these past couple of days. I may watch BTTF 3 again this week.
These films never get old, even after all these years.

Videos of Back to the Future Ride. Has anybody else been on this? I remember I went on it when I was a kid.
The ride isn't at Universal Studios anymore as they have replaced it for the Simpsons Ride.

Sorry for steering my post off topic lol.

Btw there is extra footage on the gametrailers show. It's been uploaded to youtube, so you can see it there.

Whats funny is that they included the BTTF Ride video on the Blu-Ray edition of the movies.

I enjoyed that ride though, shame that it got replaced, but it had to happen eventually.

It's still around at Universal Studios Japan, fwiw.

But yeah, I loved the snot out of that ride. When I lived in Florida, I p. much was a spoiled brat and got to go to the theme parks all the time (one of the perks of having a dad who worked for mainstream radio). Mom hated the BttF ride (she complained that she always hit her head on the inside of the car) so she let me, my older sis and my younger bro (who's autistic, but to him the BttF ride was a big frickin' deal) get in the long-ass lines over and over again to ride it. I think that's where I learned all the words to "Power of Love", idek.

I may have hated living in Florida, but I will always cherish those hot summer days of horsing around in the queue with my sibs and making sure we all got in the same car.

    Also, dinosaurs.

    *sigh*

Thanks for sharing the links. I'll have to pass them along to my bro, just in the off-chance he hasn't come across them yet (sure would be better to hear than Star Tours footage being looped over and over again, that's for sure).
  • edited December 2010
I always wanted to ride that ride, but the only theme parks I ever visited was Six Flags in Texas and Sea World. :(
  • edited December 2010
Yeah, I got so spoiled by the BttF ride. I couldn't really ever enjoy Star Tours again after I rode BttF: The Ride for the first time. It was like going back to a bike with training wheels after riding a Harley.

I am not sure if anyone mentioned this already but I love at the start of the trailer that the TTG logo does the photo time altered change from triangles to circles... it was a nice subtle touch.
  • edited December 2010
I went to the ride when I went to the US with friends back in 2005.
Have some pictures in front of the DeLorean that stood outside the ride.

I'm so psyched for this game. I'm more psyched about it than I was for TMI.
  • edited December 2010

  • edited December 2010
Finally got my pre-order in (hey, I got a new job, so it's cool) and I'm so flippin' excited.
  • edited December 2010
Haven't seen this posted here yet. It's mainly old footage, but a few frames extra here and there is always nice to share. Plus its in HD so that's something right...

Good find! And, we learned the name of a new character,
    Cue Ball.

Yeah. Interesting if that soup kitchen is essentially where Lou's Cafe was...is...will be...

What exactly did you pre-order? Cause I thought the games were all downloaded.

    Hmm...
    Cue Ball
    is
    bald
... Do you suppose he could be a
    relative of Mr. Strickland
    ?

Wow....Marty looked even better to me than he already did. Maybe it's because of the HD.

I hope the final game won't be lacking shadows... but if I remember Jake correctly, he wrote they were just missing for the preview footage that Gametrailers got.
  • edited December 2010
I am sure they won't exclude something as important as shadows.
  • edited December 2010
Well, we know from the IGN screens that they HAVE shadows, so no worries about that.
  • edited December 2010
They said they will have shadows, just that the day they cut the trailer that then engine broke and only some shadows worked.
  • edited December 2010
I can see the trailer but not the Gametrailers/SpikeTV featurettes. They just won't come up. I'm in China too so can someone upload them somewhere and maybe PM me the link (if you don't want to share ithere?) thanks!
  • edited December 2010
I dont know where to find the clips that didnt make it into the trailer, maybe captain jack can add some more on here.

Here's another question: Why 6 months? I get that it creates a nice bit of separation from the trilogy, but story-wise, why 6 months? If Doc was in serious trouble and needed Marty's help, he wouldn't leave him worrying about him for 6 months, he would send the DeLorean to later in the day on October 27, 1985. Or sometime on October 28, if he wanted to give Marty a little break from his previous time travel adventures. Or even the next weekend, if he didn't want to interfere with Marty going to school. That's assuming that it's Doc that sends the DeLorean, of course.

Another possibility that I don't recall seeing anywhere is that Marty somehow summons the DeLorean himself, accidentally. That would account for a realistic 6 month lapse, but how Marty would summon a DeLorean, whether it's the old or a new one, and how it would know where in time Doc is, I have no idea.

He combined the Haste and Stop Materia to create a DeLorean Materia. :p

I see what you did there.

But what is this about Marty summoning a DeLorean?
Isn't it obvious it was sent there?

Well... you know, Marty and Doc they've gone through so much shit together in the Trilogy - in a VERY small period of time. I'm sure Doc before getting caught in the past had a pretty relaxing time, and I'm sure he would like to give Marty a rest from all this time-travelling business. Besides, from Doc's perspective, Marty would come at the same time as he would send the DeLorean, regardless of how many months after October he would send it in.
  • edited December 2010
^x4 Well, over the course of the trilogy, Marty lost about two weeks of his life through time travel, while for everyone else in 1985 only two days passed. So for two weeks straight Marty's been dealing with this time travel stuff, so Doc must have decided to let Marty re-adjust back to his own time.

Not really. One of the puzzles in Doc's lab could involve a "push in case of emergency" button that sends the DeLorean with a pre-recorded "help me" message from Doc and Doc's last known time coordinates. Marty just wouldn't realize whatever he's fiddling with is a "DeLorean summoner".
