ten songs like world of max would be the best!
  • edited August 2010
If they have a song like that at least give us subtitles this time.

Think of us hard-of-hearing non-english people!
    (same for the DVD, please?)

Subtitles would ruin the end credits. If they are there, at least take them off if people play the game without subtitles.

I hate subtitles because I always just stare at them and don't even end up looking at what's happening on the rest of the screen.

Do you mean "Says the guy who speaks native English"?

And anyway, I'm just saying I'd rather not have subtitles.

I feel the same way about subtitles, too, but I don't see why they can't put them in the optional subtitles for those who can't understand as well.
  • edited August 2010
Aren't subtitles already optional? Actually, they're off by default everytime I run a new episode, so I fiddle with options and enable them whenever necessary.
  • edited August 2010
Well, during the game I mostly don't need them (just have them on just in case anyways. Never know when a loud sound effect or muffled effect makes something hard to hear. Also sometimes game have the funny issue that you can read stuff that isn't actually audible because of the distance, it helps then ;)), but during songs with the speed and soundtrack in the back it would really help to understand what's being said. Can't grasp 50% of "Life of Max" still...

Fortunately I listen to my music for the music, and not the lyrics, since I barely understand them in most cases :D.

When you see almost everything with subtitles, you develop an ability to see everything at the same time. I just remember 2 times in 3 years of watch stuff with Subtitles about missing something for them. It's practice.

I'd like optional subtitles too. There is no way I'd understand a song in English the first time around without subtitles. Or, as is usually the case, the tenth, twentieth or hundredth time around.

If the song isn't "important" I guess you don't need subtitles, but they're nice. It was nice being able to follow the song in 204 for once.

I do dislike subtitles when watching stuff in French because I know I WILL read them and compare (whether they're in French or English) and it distracts me a bit, so I get why native speakers wouldn't want them.

I'm starting to do that when I see something in English with Spanish Subtitles. Sometimes. But sometimes I wonder what's the difference with "Distract me a bit" with "Understand nothing". Appart, like Falanca said, those subtitles are optional already =P.

Anyway, I'm not really sure if they will have anytime to put the subtitles if there's a song which need it. If there's no time, I hope you can put the lyrics in the forum after a day or something. It's not ideal, but if you can't ^^U

    Yeah, that's my point.

I've always prefered subtitles as I find it very easy to misunderstand things. For example, my dad once asked me what I wanted for lunch. This confused me and I asked him why he was going to give me a magnet. (My brother hasn't let me live that down yet). My point is that I need the subtitles to help me clarify what's going on for when a character says something too fast for me to follow and stuff like that. Following both the picture and the subtitles have never been a problem for me, although I do sometimes get distracted by wrong spelling or the American way of spelling!

I used to work at a cash register. On like my first day a guy asked if he could have a bag, and I thought he was asking if I wanted to have sex with him. True story.

    And your response...?

I looked at him, confused and surprised, and after an awkward silence he repeated his question, which made me realise I heard it wrong the first time.
He probably thought I was a complete moron :P
  • edited August 2010
It would be even better if you'd said "Yes please!"

    Because, in context...
    "Can I have a bag?"
    "Yes, please!"

I never quite lived it down when I had my supermarket Saturday job I had as a teen the first time a girl asked for some 'Shag', which turned out to be a brand of rolling tobacco we sold.

More on topic, it seems all the major questions have been asked. (Like is Sal alive?)

But I have question anyway. Are we going to see more of this smile from Sam in 305. I hope so. It's beyond cute, and I want to see more of it.

I just loved how his face lit up after someone knelt or saluted Lord Sammun-Mak!

I laugh every time Sam makes his happy face. I do hope to see it some more.

Well when your partner has turned into a 15 foot tall demon monster bunny like thing, it helps to crack a smile once in a while.

I liked the smile he made at the BANANG!

I think subtitles make the game look tacky, but then again I don't like the feel of the game without popup text enabled (even though I'm in the U.S and can easily identify every object).
  • edited August 2010
Popup text is a must, as otherwise you don't know whether something can be selected or not.

So, I noticed a bit of an inconsistency with Papierwaite between Episodes 3 & 4. In TSMB, he says to Skun-ka'pe as they form their truce, "You get the galaxy, I get the world?" Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Papierwaite and Norrington were trying to save the world from Junior, not conquer it.

So my question is this: Should we be looking forward to some interesting twist involving Papierwaite's motives in the finale, or was this just a slight mishap that I'm overestimating?
  • edited August 2010
I'm thinking he was lying about the whole world thing. He'd use Skunk-ka'pe's technology to find all the toys, then he'd get them to the Toybox, and send it back to Junior. He was planning to double-cross Skunk-ka'pe, but of course, it didn't work out.

    Can't he do both?

    Not if he's dead

Look at the background there http://www.telltalegames.com/store/samandmax-thedevilsplayhouse It looks a lot like the background in the Bluster Blaster future vision, and just next to the episodes list Sam and Max seem to be floating in space.

Maybe part of the last episode will take place in space after Max or something destroyed the world.

PS : And this space background actually appears in a lot of other places, like behind the Narrator.

Space does seem to be a recurring theme this season:
-We saw it behind the narrator
-First thing we ever saw in the series
    -Skunkape came from it
    -Bluster Blaster's future vision...
-Background to various pages and logo

Bluster Blaster's the most important of those. If we can figure out the meaning behind that future vision, it will probably reveal the link to space in the next episode.

Yog-Soggoth wouldn't have wanted him to do that. He'd have destroyed the Toybox, under Y-S's order.

If we get a song, I want sing along subtitles during it. Preferably with some cool visual effect to indicate progress. Maybe a jumping, flaming, Max head?

Please can we have some kind of teaser art or vague update, Jake? It's been ages since we've heard anything...

I think it was a pretty obvious lie.

Paiperwaite and Norrington wanted all the toys in the toy box in order to destroy it and stop Junior.
Skunk'ape wants the toys to do evil things.

Why fight over it when its half empty when you can lie to create an alliance that means you get to be near the toy box and trusted with it and also have a space ape and his goons to further help protect it? Then once its full destory it before skunk'ape can stop you.

I think Paiperwaite is a shifty character, I don't know whether he is good or bad.
