I was boring and trying something new... unofficial

    Zelos: District 6 IMAGINE

“Sasha Swanson.” that my angel with her amber eyes that glance thought my soul, I should tell about my feeling for she, I can believe I always think at she and I never really talk about my feelings, if she ever knew...

Those words, aren't from my head, they speak loud and clear, the reaping...

Time was move slow as I see Sasha walking to the stage my heart was pounding fast, my hands where snaking, I can't believe this, it must be a nightmare I was looking up and start smile more like a laughing but in silence, no this is like a dream?
I look to she and I could feel her sadness wait she is crying, no this real, of course it is, I should confess my feeling until is not to late, what I am talking about there is too late I should go there protect she, I WILL go there.

My blood boil, overflowing through my veins, is this fear, no of course not.

there was no time left the ball where rolling again, I ran as fast as I could, there was nothing that can't stop me.

“I volunteer.” I said before our escorts had change to say something, I glare at Sasha eyes with a relief and happiness.

After they sent to the prison I was force sitting on a couches, why I am sitting here is no one that will come for me anyway, I only know too person in my life beside my parents, I stand up and look around the room the carpets are nice...

As I walk from the justice building to the train I was ready to confess my feeling, but maybe here is not the time for this...

I will always looking over you, I will always protect you these are the words that I can think while I eat food, god how hunger I am...

"Why?" Sasha said while her eyes glare me down

What could I say, that I am here to die for she...

“You know why.” I said thinking that I need to know what she thinks first

“I don’t honestly.” she said looking elsewhere but she look again at me.

“You know what you did was pretty fucking stupid. One of us is dead for sure now, probably both of us will be dead in the bloodbath!” she said, I think she is worried too but I don't mind if I die to protect the one that I love.

“I won’t let that happen to you. That’s why I volunteered." I tell she.

“You idiot!” she said, I was surprised by her reaction, she wants to hit me? I won't blame her, should I doge or let she hit me?

  • Alara Morrow: District 7

I lie motionless, crouched behind a tree. The morning light has just hit the woods and we’re in the clear. I call Cedric out and he pops out from another tree.

“You have your tree?” I ask.

“Yeah, you?” I point to the one I’m standing next to.

“Better get to work.” I say. Cedric, my younger brother and I begin to chop down the trees. This is going to take several days but it’s what gets food on the table.

We live in the poorest part of district seven. The floors are chalked in dirt and there’s two rooms. I wish my mom married a carpenter. That way we could just build a nice house.

Out of my five other siblings Cedric is my favorite sibling. And I have no problem confessing that. The others already know, maybe not Ava since she’s seven but she likes spending time with Quentin better anyways.

District seven really didn’t have boundaries like the others. Well, yes it did. We did have a wall that separates the town and the forest, but peacekeepers would let anyone through; even children who just learned how to use an axe.

After several minutes, maybe fifteen. I take a quick break when I notice a squirrel just hanging by a tree.

“Check it out.” I nudge Cedric’s shoulder and point to the squirrel lying motionless on the side of the tree. Cedric realizes what I’m about to do just as I whip out my axe and lodge it into the tree. It snaps the squirrel at a nice place, the head. I could use this, it’d be good food.

“Alara, you can’t do that. Someone’s going to see.” He tugs at my shirt. As I grab the squirrel as well as my axe lodged in the tree.

“Nobody can see Cedric, we’re miles from the closest lumberjacks. Just don’t let the peacekeepers see.” I stuff the squirrel inside my jacket. If only I could make snares, apparently nobody in seven knows how to make them, which sucks because it would really help out with food.

The conversation comes back up a couple times on the way home. Reapings will be today. I try not to think about it to much but Cedric has lots of questions since it’s his first year.

    “You scared?” I ask.

    “Somewhat.” He says unsure.

“Don’t be, you’re in there one time, last year my name was in there thirty-six times and nothing happened.”

My name is entered forty three times today, one for each family member to have grain and oil for a year, because it’s cumulative. It’s not fair what the Capitol does, essentially forcing us poor to have our names put in more times just so we don’t starve.

When I get home, my mom’s old dress is sat at the foot of my bed when I get back. It’s nice, it has lots of layers and is an earthy color. I notice the bath is waiting for me. When I manage to somewhat detangle my hair in there and wipe off any dirt that remains. I look in the mirror length, shattered mirror with a wooden frame around it. I pull my brown hair into a tight bun, leaving my face completely vulnerable.

“You look so pretty!” My little sister, Ivy walks into the room we share. She’s strikingly similar to mom, with her lovely, sleek brown hair and perfect skin.

“I look like a freaky, clean version of regular me.” I say. I give her a hug, because she’s always terrified on reaping day. Today will be her third year at fourteen, same with Cortex, her twin brother, who also inherited mom’s good looks.

But I know looks won’t save them in the games.

The audience is crowded with thousands of fearful kids. One of them being me as I move into line with the seventeen year olds. Usually none of our tributes die very early in the games, they actually manage to do pretty well, but always die the last few days by an angry career tributes, or just careers. The ones from one, two and four who will likely be this year’s victor. It’s so bad we have only four victors, and only one is alive. Blight. A man who won the fifty-second hunger games by killing the careers one by one, and then targeting the weaker ones.

Our escort, a petite woman fresh from the Capitol struts the stage in a brown jumpsuit and red lips. “Happy hunger games!” District seven’s escort cheers into her microphone. Many stay silent but there are some claps, mostly from the ones holding the betting slips, who know better than to not have kids.

“As always, ladies first.” She chirps like a bird. In fact, her entire demeanor is like a bird, vibrant colors of makeup and wardrobe, small, petite frame, I think she might’ve gotten work done in the Capitol, which is a common thing there.

I think about my forty-three names in the bowl. How the odds aren’t in my favor. But there’s thousands of names in the bowl, surely it couldn’t be me. Bird lady reaches into the bowl, selects a slip and makes her way back to the stage. Cleary speaking out the name. “Alara Morrow.”

The name, it takes me a while to register in my brain. It couldn’t be…

“Alara Morrow?” She repeats herself. This was real. I look around at my brothers and sisters. Cedric is the most distraught by far. As I walk towards the stage I hear him rush up and cling on to me like a tight rope.

“No Alara, you can’t! I volun-“ He nearly says before I cup his mouth shut.

“No!” I harshly whisper, mostly because I’m already scared enough. “Go away!” I hiss. The twins, Cortex and Ivy, drag him away. And I resume my walk to stage.

As I walk to the stage I realize I’m not sad or mourning my own death as I am angry, angry at everything. The Capitol, me for putting in my names so many times, but most of all my dad for putting me in the position to make me enter my names so many times.

I look up at the screen. My brown eyes project a rock hard glare and my lips a bitter scowl on my face. I’m honestly kind of glad. The other tributes will see this and when they do they’ll fear me. But I’m on the verge of tears.

“This is absolutely marvelous!” Bird lady, the lady I’ll put up with for the next couple of weeks squeals in joy. “Now are there any volunteers?” She chirps. “Anyone? Anyone?” But there’s not even a whisper. District seven is hushed.

“Time for our lucky male tribute!” She burst into laughter shortly afterwards.

“And our male tribute to represent district seven is… Troy Donnor!” She exclaims. Yeesh, the games are bad enough without this lady idiotically clapping her hands at everything.

A boy from the sixteen year old section moves forward with dark crimson hair. He’s tall, at least half a foot taller than me and I’m a tall girl for someone so impoverished.

I look at his baby blue eyes, filled with fear I’ve seen in all my brother and sisters before. Bird lady asks for volunteers as standard protocol requires, but nothing comes out. I’m honestly surprised Cedric didn’t impulsively volunteer, Cortex must’ve held him back long enough.

“Marvelous!” She smiles. “Our tributes, Troy Donnor and Alara Morrow! Happy hunger games to this years brave tributes!

I’m rushed into the justice building by a swarm peacekeepers. I sit down nervously, on one of the many plush seats, waiting for my family to be let in. After a couple of minutes they’re let in. All of them are scared. Ivy is crying, balling her eyes out. This was always her nightmare. Everybody is hugging me, everybody but Quentin, who I stare down. I know what he’s thinking, he’s reluctant but I stop him before he has time to move close to me.

“Don’t you get near me ever again.” I hiss at Quentin. My dad, but I call him by his real name.

He says nothing. I’m boiling mad, he has a lot of nerve showing up here. Where was he the rest of my life, when mom had died? When he was to drunk to function? When I had to take care of Ivy, Cortex, Cedric, Amber and Ava? I wasn’t having any of this today.

I lunge across the room. Smacking my fist into Quentin’s unsuspecting face, he spits out a mouthful of some teeth. Then we are screaming terrible, terrible things at each other, my youngest sister, Ava tries to drag me out, but she’s far too little to do anything. I feel the rest of them pouring on top of me trying to hold me down, but by then the peacekeepers are in and they take me to the train.

When we’re finally in the train. I finally get a chance to look at my district partner. He looked just as bitter as I did but with glossed over blue eyes in an attempt not to cry.

“Hope you didn’t hear any of that.” I tell Troy about what just happened.

I can barely make out what he says at first. It’s only the second time around that I know for sure he knows when he says, “Do you want to talk about it?”
