May ttg hear us now and stop screwing with the awaited 3rd season
    Amen

  • My thoughts as well, though I'm not entirely confident that Telltale will budge even after this, but Telltale would probably be more inclined to lend an ear to Melissa than us, so who knows.

People were pissed already. The best we can hope is that the interview has made telltale more aware of our frustrations.

  • Can someone tell me what exactly happened in the interview?

  • Well that sucks that they won't respond to this now since they have to wade through all the hate. Wonder why they didn't respond to us around day one since they were so aware. Woulda been nice.

If youre expecting them to respond to this now, I wouldnt count on it. I doubt they would feel like its worth trying to wade through the hate.

  • If not, don't you think it'll became weird if they remain silent ?

No because that's typical of staff.

  • To keep it super short, Melisa basically said she isnt super happy with how Season 3 is turning out, and that there has been a ton of rewrites and cut content leading up to the release, and episode 3 is also suffering from rewrites.

I really liked episode 3 so far but the community is absolutely correct when it comes to the play time. We all know that episode 1 and 2 should have simply been 1 episode.

If I were Telltale, I would extend this season out 1 or 2 more episodes like they did minecraft. They also need to do what they did in Tales from the borderlands and make Clem playable alongside Javi. It is obvious that many of the fans want this - it is a constant beef with people so why not give them what they want? It doesn't bother me simply playing Javier but the fact is that most of the community want to play Clem and telltale did insinuate that this would be the case. Extend the 3rd episode release date out as long as it takes and get it right and then add more playable Clem and extend the season out more episodes to make up for the fact that massive content was cut from the first two episodes.

    That's my 2 cents.

  • I spent my money at Burger King... dammit I keep wasting my money!

  • I thought Kenny was more of a love or hate thing? There didn't seem to be much of a middle ground, but sometimes its just hard to defend something against a strong argument.

  • Ive got to say im impressed with her for actually saying what she thinks, most actors just say whatever there told to.

  • As Javier puts it "God damnit, this wasn't supposed to go down like this"

It almost doesn't feel real. This wasn't supposed to happen.

We should just remember the good old days that whipper snappers don't know about. Season 1 of Walking Dead. I get excited then angry over New Frontier. I do this because the characters aren't how I would have wrote them.

David would have been a bad guy that you would root for as people do with Negan and Mel Gibson in Payback. He would have had a good philosophy for his actions.

How can you hate a comedic game like this? I guess you have no sense of humor.

  • I really don't like the endless waiting, would prefer if they Finish the game and maybe put out the episodes weekly or so

Seriously, I miss waiting averagely 3 months for an episode. The forums were a nice place then.

  • Not everyone likes the same stuff, I generally dont like comedic games either, unless its something totally silly like Undertale, I generally like my games to be pretty serious, which is weird considering I am the least serious guy I know in real life

  • Do people really see David as just a bad guy in this game? to me he just seems like a brother, who has some problems and isnt always as nice as he should, but he doesnt seem like he is inherently evil or anything

  • You do realize that we just met him...so his "philosophy" is unknown. And so how can you know if he is not how you would write him or not?

The Good old day..yeah I loved the time they put into character development...but some of those puzzles now on reflection come off as cheap ass gimmicks to pad the time you played. Like Doug needing the family portrait to be inclined to let you go out and get the keys...the train start up....the first time you are trying to get behind that locked door at the St. Johns Dairy.

I have been looking at reviews by regular players...those who make up 90% of the customers for the games...They seem to love ANF....Overwhelmingly Positive on Steam....play thrus..the people like Pewdiepie and Jacksepticeye bot marvel that it is the shot in the arm the series needed.

The problem comes down to how much time we spend analyzing the games. Those guys and the vast majority play once or twice and they are done...they go off and play other games.

I think however those people would have enjoyed more if the episodes were longer and had more character development. I agree with folks on the forums...but I can see why it is not bothering the majority of people.

  • Melissa: It's over Telltale I have the high ground
    TTG: You underestimate my power.
    Melissa: Don't try it
TTG jumps and get cut in pieces and rolls to the hate comments slowly dissapearing in the sea of hate you hear her scream I hate you!!
Melissa: You were the chosen one, you were destined to destroy the hate threads not make more of them... You were my sister Telltale I loved you

  • Huh, somebody posted the steam reviews early noting how as many if not more were finding the negative reviews helpful. Honestly, I never really got the double standard that people view users reviewing games negatively on sites as downvoting but take the positive reviews as authentic, but then I don't think I've reviewed a single of the 197 games I have waiting to install on my Xbox one alone, can't be bothered regardless of my feelings lol

But yea, the puzzles were kinda... eh, definitely extended the time but not necessarily in a good way. I'd welcome hubs like those without them, though. Man I wish I could relive that first time feeling going through S1 and 2.

    Ooh my God Telltale
From somebody who has been here since the S2 days I wish I could go back in time because Season 2 is a master piece of a sequel compared to S3.
Hell the S2 days was all out of war but even back then we could appreciate it more and had more fun with it than this so called Season 3 A New Frontier.Seeing these interviews gives my depression depression and my shit feels offended by this.
AJ was such a big importance in S2 and now left on the side of the script so it can be brought up later I bet if you cut him out that it won't change the MAIN plot.
And their way to bring in new fans and keep old fans suck I have even more respect for Ubisoft than I have for Telltale and that is insulting. Edit: Sorry for comparing you to Ubisoft or not I don't know anymore.
How did Telltale went from something so passionate from The Wolf Among Us and TWD to this?!
I am sick of illusion choices thrown in my face with characters that have no development I am glad I didn't buy this Season and just started watching it and this is from someone who puts Season 1 in his top 10 game list!
And do we need the action that much? I love action but when I play S1 and look at S3 I am just stunned.
I am impressed by Melissa for opening her mouth on this.
I careless about Javiers family Kate is fine by me and Javier but ooooh God they can be so much better

  • Well...Telltale can respond many ways....admit that there are problems...own the situation and strive to turn it around. That would be the best case. Worst case..Clem is going to die this season so they do not have to deal with Melissa any more. That is the petty stupid way to do things...Hmmm I wonder which they will choose?

  • I don't think they've become evil, so I think they'll try the first option.
The second option... I don't think they will do that. Imagine the outcry. Everybody would know they kicked her for voicing decent opinion.

Wouldn't/ couldn't they just replace her voice actor?

  • Well I hope they pick option 1....Melissa has had a good relationship with Telltale for years. And we are all complaining because we care about the franchise and Telltale as a company...I think that is part of the reason Melissa did not hold back....she sees that there is a problem at Telltale. I think all this growth is finally coming home to roost...the old ways of doing things with Bruner being in charge of every decision is not working any more. They stripped out some awesome scenes...why? All these redos on the VO sessions because they have no clear cut idea how they want Clem to be? Someone at Telltale needs fired or stripped of power. Whatever happened to getting scripts done before you do the VO sessions....KNOW YOUR CHARACTERS....that is an important part of any media.

  • You forgot that silence is always a valid option. Or in the case of Telltale, it's the preferred option. What they'll do is never address it and try to sweep it under the rug, choosing to post some of the great reviews ANF is getting from review sites instead of addressing what is appearing to be a legitimate controversy surrounding ANF.

  • her criticism does not sound constructive, tbh. she should be pissed about bad writing, missing features and scamming customers by dividing first episode into two short ones. instead she seems pissed that clementine is not main character anymore. clem not being main character anymore is actually only good thing about new frontier.

it was pretty obvious they rewritten the first episode. javier looked much younger in that e3 teaser (they even change his voice actor) and those screenshots they first released never happened.

  • Not only that they don't know what to do with Clem, they have no clue where the whole season goes. I hope they find themselves fast.

After reading her thoughts and the posts in this thread, can't help but say that I feel vindicated in how I initially reacted to S3.

Also, I'm really happy I refunded through steam.

TT are so busy enjoying their cocktails at industry parties and smugly pretending they're a-list celebrities that they don't realize their core fanbase is eroding and they are running the studio into the ground.

Somebody seriously needs to stage an intervention because the higher ups at TT clearly have some kind of out of control ego problem, the same kind of problem often synonymous with a particularly destructive kind of substance abuse that self-indulgent celebs engage in when they begin to believe they are untouchable.

It's like they went from being an extremely niche game studio that made quirky games that excelled at appealing to a very unique customer base to a wannabe big-time studio that thinks they are too good for their old fans and their efforts are better spent appealing to the masses.

  • She'll probably step on a rusty nail, get tetanus, and die a slow, pointless, painful death because... flashback deaths worked so well, hurr durr.

Man, I should get a job writing for TTG. This stuff comes easy!

At the rate the writers are going, Clem will be killed off during this season anyways.
