her criticism does not sound constructive, tbh. she should be pissed about bad writing, missing features and scamming customers by dividing … morefirst episode into two short ones. instead she seems pissed that clementine is not main character anymore. clem not being main character anymore is actually only good thing about new frontier.
it was pretty obvious they rewritten the first episode. javier looked much younger in that e3 teaser (they even change his voice actor) and those screenshots they first released never happened.
To keep it super short, Melisa basically said she isnt super happy with how Season 3 is turning out, and that there has been a ton of rewrites and cut content leading up to the release, and episode 3 is also suffering from rewrites.
Stumbled across this quote from Telltale's CEO from 5 years ago....
Some people seem to think that Telltale has grown into some giant corporation that doesn't care about people anymore. Nothing could be further from the truth. We started the company to make games that are about writing, acting and atmosphere and not about blowing shit up.
Fast forward to season 3 where fans feel like Telltale doesn't care about them at all, the writing is completely uninspired and trite, the voice actress for their most iconic and important character is fed up with their bullshit, the atmosphere barely even feels like TWD anymore and feels more like a mediocre on-rails show and not interactive cinema, and we're popping off headshots left and right on bad guys and throwing grenades with our bare hands.

Yeahhhhh, this is really bad.
*Javi and Clem walking away from Richmond in slow motion while explosions occur in the background and burning pieces of debris land all around them.
*Javi lights a cigarette.
*Clem and Javi give each other a friendly yet badass look of understanding.
*Clem's face is blown off from some guy in the woods with an assault rifle and the credits roll after showing Javi getting really upset. AJ just never reappears so don't ask about him.
Yeah, that's pretty much my expectations at this point. They were so high going into the season too, this is really unfortunate.
She'll probably step on a rusty nail, get tetanus, and die a slow, pointless, painful death because... flashback deaths worked so well, hurr durr.
Man, I should get a job writing for TTG. This stuff comes easy!
Pfft more like we get a slide show of Kevin Bruner's stick drawings of aliens coming to take Clementine home...only for the ship to explode on the way.

Season 2 is a legendary work of art compared to "ANF", which I don't even feel deserves to be called Season 3 anymore.
Remember when we were complaining about S2E1 being only 1.5 hours, despite having many determinant dialogues and hub areas? We were such spoiled Spring children back then....
Ooh my God Telltale
From somebody who has been here since the S2 days I wish I could go back in time because Season 2 is a master piece of … morea sequel compared to S3.
Hell the S2 days was all out of war but even back then we could appreciate it more and had more fun with it than this so called Season 3 A New Frontier.Seeing these interviews gives my depression depression and my shit feels offended by this.
AJ was such a big importance in S2 and now left on the side of the script so it can be brought up later I bet if you cut him out that it won't change the MAIN plot.
And their way to bring in new fans and keep old fans suck I have even more respect for Ubisoft than I have for Telltale and that is insulting. Edit: Sorry for comparing you to Ubisoft or not I don't know anymore.
How did Telltale went from something so passionate from The Wolf Among Us and TWD to this?!

Oh yeah damn we were spoiled when we got S2 all that lenght, characters and more damn that was amazing and this game feels like a spin off based on Season 2

People thought characters like Carlos, Rebecca, etc. were uninspired and bland.
Now we have such gems as Tripp and Eleanor.
The more I think about the new season, the more I want to gouge my own eyes out.
I quite liked the puzzles actually, but maybe I am in the minority, they made real problems out of other things than walkers, and made the world feel more alive, if that makes sense? as opposed to the constant action we have in A New Frontier
Huh, somebody posted the steam reviews early noting how as many if not more were finding the negative reviews helpful. Honestly, I never rea… morelly got the double standard that people view users reviewing games negatively on sites as downvoting but take the positive reviews as authentic, but then I don't think I've reviewed a single of the 197 games I have waiting to install on my Xbox one alone, can't be bothered regardless of my feelings lol
But yea, the puzzles were kinda... eh, definitely extended the time but not necessarily in a good way. I'd welcome hubs like those without them, though. Man I wish I could relive that first time feeling going through S1 and 2.
If theyre having all these problems theyre saying, removing Clem would be their worst decision, The Walking Dead is arguably their flagship franchise so to speak, and I feel like A New Frontier hasnt been completely awful, there is some good stuff in there, and if they can improve on the rest of the season, and then make a major comeback with season 4, I think they can get back on track, but god damn, stop pushing all the major plot points from season 2 away, AJ was such a huge part of Season 2, and now he is just, there? not really there? hidden away? damn, I dunno, it seemed like such an obvious choice to have season 3 be about Clem and AJ, with Clem as the lead, but I dunno.
That way they could also have done a much better job with the endings from season 2, just make the first episode be different depending on what ending you had, and then have them converge at the end, by having Kenny or Jane leave or die or leave their fate unknown
Well...Telltale can respond many ways....admit that there are problems...own the situation and strive to turn it around. That would be the … morebest case. Worst case..Clem is going to die this season so they do not have to deal with Melissa any more. That is the petty stupid way to do things...Hmmm I wonder which they will choose?
Alot of people will disagree with you that Clem shouldnt be the main character, (including me), it seems to be the general consensus mostly, that people wanted to play as Clem, not Javier

First off: Props to Melissa Hutchison, I just hope this doesn't have any negative repercussions on her part. Incredibly brave though.
Reading through this last night was pretty disheartening. I'm just more saddened than frustrated after this. What happened to the talk about preparing the game to release when the walk is barely there? 2 years in and still no clue where to go? Just... really? You shouldn't be in the rewrite stages so late in the game (pun not intended) if you were supposed to be in the planning stages and pre-production stages when you decided to do a new schedule (I'm glad that it might be delayed honestly but I dunno if more time will be enough). Management is a mess, I guess this pretty much confirms those employee reviews that was posted here... I just can't handle all this tossing and turning. Persistent site glitches, people's game unable to play for a while, sugar-coated and advertising claims going left or right or just the totally false, dishonesty, more money for less content, no idea how to take a story.... so on... I just don't know anymore. I'm at a loss with this company.

Javier: "Hi Clem! You look like you've got something to say. Do you?"
Clementine: "Yes, I certainly do. (camera zooms in on her face) I have to go now, my planet needs me"
Clementine's model slides over to a low poly ps1 alien ship
Note: Clementine died on the way back to her home planet
Gavin Hammon: "Wow, Clementine came from another planet?!"
Erin Yvette: "Uh I guess..."
Melissa: (at Telltale) "Hey that wasn't supposed to happen! Those finks double-crossed me!"
(Meanwhile, during a gaming event where TT played through the episode live)
Kevin Bruner: Clementine is dead! (laughs)
Audience: "Yay!"
Kevin: "Well kids, we all know that sometimes when video game characters die, they're back again once you reload the checkpoint. That's why I'm presenting this sworn affidavit that Clementine will never, ever, ever return!"
Lawyer: "This document conforms to all applicable laws and statutes"

Well, all they (telltale) do is promote ANF all over their social medias, like facebook and twitter. They kept reposting the same review, like 8/10 gamespot 8/10 ign!!! a fresh breath of air!1!!1 a great premier to the third season of the walking dead!!. I mean, sure i love Telltale's games and currently i love anf, but please, you fucked up and at least, listen to your fans..

Well these are Steam sales only (so no console) but they give a good indication of how well each game did.

It's going to be a complete clusterfuck. Already is, as a matter of fact. One of the main reasons I'd say are the writers. Episode 1 had eight writers. That's about six or seven too many. Season 2 already had too many writers putting in their own ideas and disregarding previous episodes (see town in 204), and it's worse in Season 3. Nothing feels consistent. I really hope Telltale uses the time they're seemingly going to take for Episode 3 wisely, but I'm getting tired of Telltale disappointing time and again ever since the Season finale of GoT (the exception being Batman, which I love to bits).
Not really. As far as I can tell, the majority of people on here were disappointed to varying degrees (in fact this section was overflooded with negative threads in the first week or two after release), but most hoped that the following episodes would be better. With the info derived from the interview, we can assume that they might actually be worse.
I didn't mind them, but I think what he was saying and I agree with, is puzzles required for story progression kinda feel monotonous after the first playthrough. I think the only one I didn't mind was the swing set in season 1 episode 2. I can't remember if it was required to progress but I'm pretty sure it wasn't, and completing it gives you extra dialogue and a scene with Clementine, Kenny, and Duck. Stuff like that, where completing it if you want results in more moments between characters are preferable.
I quite liked the puzzles actually, but maybe I am in the minority, they made real problems out of other things than walkers, and made the world feel more alive, if that makes sense? as opposed to the constant action we have in A New Frontier
There are less people defending it because Telltale doesn't deserve to be defended on this if half the stuff Melissa said was true. I defended it because I wanted to like it and had hope that the following episodes would be better. That's gone now, and my sympathy with Telltale for getting so much shit is nigh zero.
No consumer deserves to be shat upon like this, let alone loyal fans who have been steadfast throughout the years.
Kevin lying and bullshitting me on reddit was the final straw, methinks

They changed his voice actor?
How things should be at TT:
Destruction of Telltale Kingdom
And this is Melissa's voice on Telltale
Like knifes on butter
Soon this will start again
Good, Telltale needs to get their head out of their ass and see the flaws with ANF.
What kinds of cut content and rewrites?
600th Comment. WOW.
yes, his original voice actor was actually latino. this one is not. his spanish is weird.
check out this thread.

I'm expecting Michael Bay-esque explosions coming in the next few episodes xD
Telltale better not omnislash Melissa

A slow, painful death would cost way too much screentime and resources! Let's just blow her head off from some goon in the woods with an AK-47!!!!!!
Meh I wouldnt really care, the voice would only sound a little different, the character wouldn't change. If that does happen that is.
Pfft more like we get a slide show of Kevin Bruner's stick drawings of aliens coming to take Clementine home...only for the ship to explode on the way.
(Telltale reading through these posts): "Shit, we gotta rewrite the whole finale!! They figured it out already!!!"
I don't think Melissa would care anymore to be honest.
Jeez says it all really from what it sounds like. Telltale are just all over the place. Can't say I'm surprised though.
What a fucking jabroni, as a consumer I kind of dislike being manipulated and lied to even if it is just a $20 game.

Funny, considering A New Frontier looks more like a Michael Bay movie than a walking dead game with all the action, and almost no character building
Gabe: "Hey, look who's here!"

Possible, considering Monroe's and Prescott's ultra fast demise.
