Unfortunately, no. When they first made the forum have threaded posts back in 2013, many forum users, and even most of the mods at the time (myself included) asked if this could be an option. We were told that the threaded posts were added by custom code and that it would add an extra layer of complication to add this.
It's even moreso the case now, since the Telltale forum now no longer uses that custom code. It's now running on the plain Vanilla forum software (which doesn't have support for threaded posts), in order to improve performance of the forum, as there's less potential for forum bugs without the custom code. The upside is that now that the custom code is gone, the Telltale forums has features that weren't present in the custom forum but are there in regular Vanilla.
Oh, bummer. I mean I don’t mind the update, I just don’t like the linear aspect or the fact that I have to go back to the first page to read the discussion description.

This is something I believe could be possible to bring back. I have brought this very topic up on Page 10, the discussion description/main post/whatever you prefer to call it, it is an extremely useful thing to have and maybe the staff will see things in the same way, so that they bring it back in some capacity. I mean, the ability to have this one post stuck at the top of a thread regardless of which page, immediately giving an overview of everything the thread is about and more (such as updates in waiting threads, general rules of conversation in certain threads, or useful links to check out and so on) is one of the things I miss the most and I am pretty sure a majority on here agrees that it is a useful feature that should be brought back.
Oh, bummer. I mean I don’t mind the update, I just don’t like the linear aspect or the fact that I have to go back to the first page to read the discussion description.
I don’t get how it was offensive, i’d love to have my dead body in a video game as an Easter egg
And at this moment is when I comple… moretely disregard everything you say.
Not that I regarded it as important before, but at least now I have full undeniable proof to provide a reason why.
I've gotta be honest, guys. A lot of you are being really unreasonable. Admittedly the update is a bit jarring at first but not difficult to get used to and personally I feel it's better organized. This isn't directed to those who are giving constructive criticism and being completely reasonable. More so those saying things like "UGH This is ugly! Fix it now!" and generally being really aggressive. I've seen several comments complaining and then when a mod offers a solution a lot of you seem to get aggressive and insist that it's not good enough.
While I don't think mods should be attacked for this, it is pretty annoying to get the "just suck it up, lol" response. And I really don't see how this is more organized. To me changing from the reddit style to linear style is making the threads a shouting competition where it's nearly impossible to go into a longer conversation about something, because it all blends into this one linear mess. And taking away the main post is the worst possible thing for threads where it's important to have a lot of info present no matter what page you're on (for example, the interactive fanfics).
Ah, I'm usually not one to complain about change, but I have to admit this update really grinds my gears.

I don't particularly agree with that. The mods have been really fair and cool about this. They've been offering solutions and trying to help out anyone who has an issue with the update and more often than not they're rewarded with sass and back talk.
And I really don't see how this is more organized.
That's a matter of opinion, I can't blame anyone who doesn't like the style. Personally I feel that it's a lot more efficient. It's easier to find comments when the latest are right at the bottom and the problem of not being able to tell what someone is talking about can be easily solved by simply quoting the comment which really doesn't take that much effort. And aside from comments a lot of other stuff is better organized too. The most obvious being PM's but the bookmarked discussions are better as well. But like I said, that's a matter of opinion.

The idea is that linear discussions promote higher quality, longer form conversations with more of a flow, whereas threaded replies encouraged shorter, more passing conversation. Again, threads will adapt to this format over time, just as people adapted to Reddit/threaded comments in Fall 2013.
There were some passive aggressive posts from others about how this update was "only good for mods/the web team", but keep in mind - us moderators having good mod tools is as good for you guys as it is for us. We have more at our disposal to curate good discussions, more tools that were previously lacking because they were not compatible with threaded comments, etc. And I also want to stress - the web team is still capable of adding updates.
I'll agree the design is a bit on the sterile side (and that replies really need to show a quoted excerpt), but that is a complaint separate from the functionality, whereas a lot of users seem to want to group the presentation together with the new functionality as one single complaint.
Whenever I try to log in and go to type in my password, it takes me back to the create account screen so I have to type in my email and password all over again, sometimes I have to do this 3 times. Is it possible for this to be patched?
I get that too sometimes; I've found that using a separate browser on the same device or logging into the same browser on a different device works as a short term solution.

I think I've already gotten used to the new layout, only complaints I have are that when you press reply it doesn't auto-quote the post in question and the main post is not elevated. Other than that I'm happy we're back to linear.

Linear threads are a way to cut down on discussions and complaint threads pure and simple...it is why they are so popular with companies because it is hard for the customers to come together and discuss the issues that are wrong in a product.
And would it kill them to let us see a page with all the games and talkback like we used to?

Definitely. There's a reason why members in the thread are posting shorter comments that don't really connect to anything said before.
Reply with quotes should be coming. If they want to do it that is(that's easy, depending on how big of a mess the code is at this point). The hesitation I see is that it would increase the length and size of posts which it looks like they tried to streamline with this colour coding and "in reply to..." feature.
I think they just over-complicated it though. If we get quotes, they could take both of those other things away(or we could just ignore them) and this will be simple. Having multiple discussions with quotes isn't confusing or complicated, it just looks that way with all this other stuff going on.
I get that too sometimes; I've found that using a separate browser on the same device or logging into the same browser on a different device works as a short term solution.
The amount of loopholes we need to go through in order for the site to even work is ridiculous.

Updates tend to have glitches at launch that get patched out soon after. Even the much beloved Fall 2013 update had a ton of glitches and errors upon its first launch. (And, it even lacked a lot of basic functionality that was not added until later on in 2014 or 2015, once you take the rose tinted glasses off)
I really, really want to emphasize that the web team is working super hard and being incredibly receptive to constructive feedback, even if you don't see it manifest in terms of fixes right away. There are no plans to revert to threaded discussions, but your feedback over the new functionality, such as bug reports, suggestions for improvements, etc, are not being ignored.
And that's fine for a thread that's supposed to focus on just one issue/topic, but in some threads several simultanious conversations are to be expected, and those are the kind of threads that suffer the most from this linearity.

I understand, but part of the change to linear is meant to deliberately get topics more fixated on a specific discussion. For larger, "megathread" type topics such as Whatever's On Your Mind, Walking Dead General Questions, Details You May Have Missed, etc, you will see that having smaller side conversations is not actually that hard once you get used to the new format.

As far as my experience goes—which stems back to January 2016 with these forums—Reddit-style threads tend to have direct posts that closely relate to the topic and ideas in the original post, and the replies to these direct posts are the ones that diverge into semi-related topics and such.
It's so much easier for linear threads to become a mess, since they're so volatile. There is simply no way to hold parallel coherent discussions within the same thread.

A small handful of the old forum regulars speculated the same thing in the Fall 2013 update when the Reddit comments were introduced. It's funny how that comes up on both sides of the argument.
I don't see how linear comments discourage people from speaking out about negative feedback. If anything, linear discussions promote longer form discussion where replies to other comments do not get lost on previous pages of threaded posts.
