  • Last Jedi was fantastic. A lot of flaws, side plot is meh, wonky CGI and some odd dialogue here and there, but overall just a really wonderful movie. It also probably has some of the most iconic shots in the series imo. There is love OOZING out of every fucking part of this movie and as of right now i think it's my second favorite Star Wars movie. No idea who Rian Johnson is but after seeing Last Jedi i'm gonna watch every movie he's ever made. 8.5/10 for me personally.

  • Yeah, do what they said

At this point this doesn't even sound that bad.

  • Don’t say ANYTHING but just answer a small question free of spoilers pls. Some people in my school said something about the film, and it sounded HUGE. Is there anything HUGE that happens? Don’t tell me what it is if there is though!

  • Well, it all depends on how you view HUGE. There are a number of things that can be classified as that in the movie (not saying what) but it's really to how you view it.

In my opinion, yes, big stuff happens. And I'm fine with it.

Oh wait I totally forgot this game came out. I guess I should get it.

    YESSSS

  • Ok Ima assume that the rumours are true, and I don’t mean Leia’s possible death, I mean since Carrie is dead I assume her character will go down too judging from the trailer, but I swear if those rumours are true and they lay a finger on “you know who” I’m going to have a fit

  • Quite a bit of huge things happen actually. Not gonna go into detail, but everything that happens in this movie will absolutely leave a ripple throughout the entire series. Post TLJ, and Pre TLJ.

  • Cool, I was thinking of going back again and watching it. I feel like I didn't get the best experience the first time through. Probably for 3 reasons:

    1. That movie was LONG. Much longer than your average Star Wars movie. There's a lot on there that I probably missed, as I'm having a hard time remembering a few scenes (at least the ones concerning Finn and Rose).
    2. There were people talking behind me too! Really ruined a few good scenes, with their backseat commentary.
    3. Well, I may have not been paying attention in some moments. Probably due to the people behind me, but also probably because I wasn't focused on what was on screen. There was a moment about 1hr and a half into the movie where I thought: "How long is this movie? How much more is left?", and my attention span then faded for a section in the middle. I remember the big moments, but the small.. ehhh. I was attentive in the climax though.

Watched The Last Jedi again and enjoyed it a lot more. Helps that the audience I was with didn't have a bunch of assholes behind me talking the whole way through unlike before.

  • I still don't get how people actually liked The Last Jedi. It's whole plot makes no sense and it tosses so many rules of the Star Wars universe out the window. It also completely wastes Luke.

  • Okay... what are the "Rules of Star Wars"? This movie was wholly original, and I applaud it for that.

  • Yeah the first time I saw it I was really surprised at how long it was because of how distracting the people behind me were. On the second viewing it didn't bother me nearly as much.

I failed the first time too. Were you checking your blind spots? Was that what you were dinged for? Did they give you a sheet telling you what you failed on?

On a side note, I started watching The Punisher. Only two episodes in and I like it.

  • Been a weird-ass day. I was in Melbourne yesterday with a school group around Flinder's Street Station, and today someone runs down a group of pedestrians in the same area. Then today I go Christmas shopping with my mum and a few hours ago there's an explosion at that very same place (nobody got injured at the latter though).

Leia is force sensitive and isn't trained, yet she flies through space in this movie. That's not how the force works.

Luke's death makes zero sense. What, he used up all of his force power? That doesn't make any sense, the force surrounds the galaxy,, you can't just "run out."

The movie doesn't even feel like a Star Wars movie. The tone is totally off. It felt like I was watching a marvel movie. Does "I'm holding for general hugs" seem like a line that would be in a star wars movie?

They completely shut on Luke's character. Your telling me that Luke skywalker, who gave himself up to the empire because he felt that he could find the good in DARTH FREAKING VADER, was seriously contemplating murdering his own nephew in his sleep just because he was struggling with the darkness? Bullshit. That completely goes against Luke's whole character in the OT.

Speaking about the tone again, the whole casino plot line felt like something out of Harry Potter, not Star Wars. Rose is also a lame ass character imo.

The only new thing I really liked was the force bond stuff with rey and Kylo ren, because it's a new thing that doesn't break any already established rules of the force. However, it was dumb that snoke could connect them like that, why could he do that? We have no clue, because no information was given.

Destroying starkiller base in TFA didn't mean shit because the first order is still super powerful here, so we don't even get to see any results of that victory for the resistance in TFA.

There's so much more I could say about why the The Last Jedi was bad and why it breaks the Star Wars universe.

It was a great film, however as a Star Wars film it was extremely bad.

    Yo, spoiler tag your comment.

    1. Leia force pulls herself to the ship. She doesn't just float. Like how Luke force pulls the lightsaber to himself in Empire Strikes Back despite never being thought anything about the force and the audience having never seen that power before? Also like how the Emperor shoots lightning out of his hands in ROTJ despite the previous movies never having established that force users could do that? Like how Count Dooku could float his way down from heights. Like how Darth Plagueis could save people from death but not himself. No? Well it's not a story the Jedi would tell you. Also it's been 30 years since the events of ROTJ, Luke probably taught her a few things during that period of time. As for the Luke dying, he became one with the Force (kinda like Obi Wan and Yoda) he didn't just run out of force juice. Though projecting yourself onto another planet far far away would probably be really exhausting.

    2. Star Wars has dumb jokes like this all the time. But I agree that the humour is very hit or miss.

    3. Luke never finished his Jedi training and in the first place wasn't even properly trained. Also it's been 30 years since the original trilogy. A lot can happen in that time.

    4. Casino felt out of place I agree. Rose's character was okay in my opinion, she just needs to be fleshed out more.

    5. Star Wars pulls shit like this all the time like a couple of the examples I've mentioned above. People always get new force powers all the time like the examples I gave above.

    6. You mean like how the Death Star blew up in A New Hope but it didn't mean shit because the Empire was as strong as ever? The Resistance didn't really have that many people to begin with in Force Awakens, at least not like the Rebellion in the original trilogy. It makes sense that despite a great victory, their forces were decimated with even more being killed because of Poe's brazen attitude.

I get why some people wouldn't really like The Last Jedi and there are some perfectly valid criticisms (with the humour, Canto Bight and Rose's character), but you've gotta admit that Star Wars does stuff like this all the time :P

Now I feel like it's going to be the worst Star Wars movie I've watched but I need to see it first so I can think straight.

Try not to go in expecting anything (good OR bad). The overall reaction by the public is honestly blown way out of proportion. The movie has problems yes, but these are problems evident in pretty much all Star Wars movies but people are acting like it's the first stuff like this has happened.
