the whole Stan-science is basically the following:
    - ignore "mapping" a texture over the 3D-surface ("wrapping" the jacket-squares over the jacket-surface).
    - now you take the actual coordinate of Stan's jacket on your 2D-monitor (or the front plane of the view frustrum) and assign that coordinate from the actual texture (a 2D image of Stan's squares) to the coordinate you took from the jacket (in other words: you shoot a ray through the monitor, it hit's stan on coordinate (200,123) of your monitor, then you take position (200,123) from your square-texture and put it on the place you "hit Stan" with the ray you shot, that way, the texture will always look "flat"!! :D)
    anybody still reading? x3

Not exactly caveman's tongue, but I think I understand what you mean. Find the jacket's coordinates, build a 2D surface out of them and fill this 2D area with the jacket pattern?

Okay, that's cool so far, but how did they apply shadowing to it? : P

well, each position on the 3D surface has an arrow pointing away from Stan (a 'normal vector')
    (like this: http://www.biocrawler.com/w/images/f/f6/Surface_normal.png)
one way to apply shadow on Stan is by calculating the angle between this normal vector and the ray between a light-source and the position on Stan (with the normal-vector).
if this angle is small, you'll have a highlight at that point, if not, you'll have a shadow (you're just making the texture a little brighter/darker at that position). There are some other techniques you can apply here, like making the whole shading-procedure dependant of the camera position/direction (as well as the position of any light source)

That's the perfect logo for this episode too. Then again I'm easy to please. I wonder who will be in the final logo. Obviously whoever is the Pirate God I guess.

It's actually really annoying me for some reason that Episode 1 is the ONLY one that doesn't have a concept art icon. I'm really tempted to make one. It'd only take a second, and yet, I feel lazy about it.

Compared to what the Team are currently busy with, I think an icon upgrade can wait and probably will anyway.

Will it be a little more harder than the last one? or longer?
Did anyone else say, "That's what She said?"

Because I haven't read the whole thread yet.

    Edit: Ahhh, nice.

I'll write myself a bug to update that at some point. Hopefully for the DVD!

Unfortunatly, I don't think they go with European time, but with American time. Probably west coast America. So for TellTale, it isn't friday for another 9 hours.

So is this actually going to be a midnight pacific time (which, unfortunately for me, is 3 a.m.) release, or is it sometime in the ever-vague "morning"..?

They said it would take a while for it to be released, so I'd say just wait until tomorrow morning or 12:00-6:00pm.

Thanks very much, I can't wait.

Ugh, not looking forward to an entire day of work before being able to play it.

Oh, and I'm curious, if it's not a 'midnight' release, why specifiy Pacific time at all? It doesn't really matter unless they plan to release it tomorrow evening after 9 o'clock Eastern, right?

Anytime. Just making sure, it is Friday where you are right now isn't it? Coz I'd hate to think I'm giving you the wrong info.

Did you miss all the mudslinging with the first episode? All of the Europeans were raising a fuss that they didn't get to play it on the date announced in their time zone. Most American companies (unless they do a simultaneous midnight for wherever you are worldwide release, and announce it as such) run on American time, and usually their local time. That is why they say it, so that the Europeans can't complain that it wasn't delivered on time. Well, off to bed with me and I'll see if it's around when I awake.

Well it's after 1am (I'm in NJ) on the 30th, but still 'Thursday night'.

I knew what you meant, though, thanks.

We like to be awake and with the whole company at work when we put out a game so that we can make sure it goes right without having to phone people up in the middle of the night if something... doesn't. So it goes :)

At some point, we'll all be replaced by robot gamedevgamedroids who release games at midnight in every time zone every day, and this won't be an issue, but as of now we're still using living, breathing humans who occasionally need to sleep and then wake up and get a cup of coffee, etc. But: Soon!

Yeah, it makes sense from a business standpoint.

I've kinda got used to getting up at 3AM. It sounds weird, but I've actually started to enjoy it, makes me feel like an insane fanboy.
