It's FANTASTIC that you can hear the voices with the original graphics ... I hope they issue a patch for MI1:SE along those lines. I also hope this one doesn't REQUIRE SSE2, like MI1:SE does.
So, we lookin' for TSOMI:SE:SE, then? I can easily see myself buying the original SOMI again if Telltale make available a stand-alone Steamless version... but LCR:SE HAS RUNINED LARGO!!! HE LOOKS ALL WRONG!!!!! IT'S ALL OVER AND I HATE EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DID THEY DO THIS? SOMEBODY ALREADY'S POINTED ME TO A FANGAME REMAKE OF MI2!!!!! POOR LARGO!!! and so forth
Yep, just with the little difference that i find those presented in the scummbar pretty awful versions. I really prefer the warm synth sound from the early pc versions.

Yeah cover looks like crap. but it's a digital game so.. where are you gonna see it. ingame graphics look AWESOME!
I skipped SOMI SE because I really didn't like the graphics. And I still have the original. maybe I'll buy it if the 2 games come together.

uhh... I can't tell where you stopped being serious and started being sarcastic.
I agree, though about a Telltale copy of SMI:SE. I'd ditch my Steam copy for it. Yes, I know several of you already heard me say before that I bought the game on Steam and then downloaded a cracked copy that doesn't use Steam, but... hey wait, does Telltale get any profits at all from SMI:SE sales on their site?
If they do, that's all the more reason to buy/rebuy it from Telltale. They didn't get any overt credit for helping to make it (that I recall), so I dunno.

OK, I might have been slightly taking the piss out of somebody for hating artwork, but I genuinely don't like the new Largo. He just doesn't look right.
I actually think the MI2:SE looks one hell of a lot better then SMI:SE, I just hated that look.
I'd still rather not see a remake made, but since they stay so close to the original artwork, I'm a lot more flexible about it.
I'm gonna wait for it, and who knows, if I like how it turns out I might even give SMI:SE a chance.... Maybe...
I had a response from Craig Derrick on his twitter page, I asked him how far into development it was and were they close to finishing and he said the following;
"Still some work to do, but we're close. Really stoked you like what we've shown so far!"
Holy shit, this is looking so good. Does anyone else think that the atmosphere in the voodoo swamp of the special edition actually looks better than the original?
Also, I think that Rather Dashing is mistaking "not excellent" for "bad". This is a common problem. A few months ago, I put together this informative infographic displaying the problem:

yes, let's talk about the cover again, beacuse 5 pages weren't enough :P
Actually, to sum it up for you, Chyron, it was a detailled post by Rather Dashing about why he dislike the cover art (how it failed at everything the original cover art did right), but that he's excited about the game and thinks it looks great.
Then 5 pages of random people saying "how dare you say something about the game isn't perfect, that must mean you hate it!" while RD replies that he still dislike the cover and still likes the rest of what he saw about the game.
Pretty boring discussion to follow, but I recommend RD's original commentary as it's pretty interesting. You can tell the original work was dear to him.
I personally think they would have been better off doing a cover that's not just trying to copy the original (and obviously failing). No need to copy something if you're not even going to be as good as it was. And a different cover would have been perfectly fine, they constantly do it for books, why not video games?
My opinion of the game is the same as RD's (and apparently pretty much everyone, even those who argued with him): I dislike the cover but like the rest of what I'm seeing.
Ah, I see, it was added about two hours ago, that's why I've missed it. Well, the more platforms the better!
I'm pretty sure this will be even more successful than the first SE (and probably cause more of those to be sold as well), enabling LA to make more SEs, yay!
But I wish Lucasarts released both SE`s on discs and boxes, all the normal stuff
It's very "normal" to go digital-only in this day and age. While I love boxes (I'm a total geek for well-done packaging, and don't get me started on great covers), I'm happy with digital existing, because it's a lot less financially risky to do things. Telltale would probably not exist without the digital realm, for example. Neither would games like Braid.

The infographic is actually really good, especially with internet reviews of mainstream video games sitting on a curve of fucking 7 through 10. But I really think it's not unreasonable to say they messed up this piece of promotional art. I suppose the guy working on it took the Telltale Forums approach and said "Bugger all, who the fuck is going to care, my own work doesn't matter". It just stinks of shameless laziness, and I think it's absolutely embarrassing that a multi-million dollar corporation deigned this worth showing to the public, like nobody would notice that they weren't even done with the linework if they made it bright and shiny enough. It's just plain shoddy.
And remember guys, I'm actually fairly certain this has no bearing on the actual game, which looks fantastic. It looks like they didn't just take the great Secret Special Edition, worked out the kinks, and added some unobtrusive stuff. I was a little worried by "new art", but that was quickly squelched by the realization that this is probably all for the "art viewer", essentially a concept art slideshow.

Not saying he doesn't look right. I just think of a muppet when I see him.

(No hard feelings, RD :P )
Odd that the press release doesn't list it, so maybe this is an error.
This.
Edit: Or ist it?
He actually looks like someone who could whoop some booty. Just wish they gave the poor guy an ending.
Looks exactly the same as the original to me.
It lists Mac here (in the "news" section).

The original's clouds were brightly-lit, if memory serves. I remember the contrast adding to how the scene played out.
Still, most people want *darrrkkkk* and won't notice that. I'd make the clouds a little brighter, but that's just the fanboy in me nit-picking.
He does? Maybe you should borrow Wally's monocle, since it seems you may need glasses.
Im super excited though, MISE 2 looks great!
