Hey guys, I know it's still early days on this project, and we're a ways off from talking about anything concrete, but it seemed like as good a time as any to start an official Q&A thread!

In all honesty there isn't a lot we can talk about yet -- we were going to do press for the game at PAX East last month, but held off when we realized that our answer to almost any conceivable standard press question would be "no comment, yet" -- but I trust you guys to rise above the standard questions, and come up with some Walking Dead stuff we can discuss, so have at it. Ask away!

will Lee mention Carley and his little "connection" they had in episode 3? And will we see anymore of Lilly? If so, is she going to join up with the Bandits that weren't killed in the raid? And was there a way to save Carley or Doug in episode 3?

I don't know how but as a business I'm sure market research interest them so they might look for that kind of stuff.

What is known is TWD is the exactly the kind of game women who do game like so I would think they would be interested in who is playing.

Marketers aiming at women gamers should understand that they exhibit different attitudes than men do. Courtney Johnson, Interpret analyst, said in a statement, “They are much more likely to prefer to play solo than men, and play games for less competitive and more narrative- and character-driven reasons.”

Will the next season focus on Lee and Clem? I'd kind of hate to see the duo go.

And how would they differentiate the man boobs?

I have a question for Telltale (and not just to bring the thread back on topic). Why doesn't the tanker explode?

I would like to know which character so far has been the hardest for you to kill off.

yup i'd like to know too :)

    now i have a question..

when making hotspots on objects is the look option really necessary ? why can't you add that dialogue to the 'use/do/activate' ? sometimes it's annoying to interact with cos it's really obvious 'what it is', or is it cos you think some players are thick as pig doodie ?

Can someone tell me what IDE was used to develop the game and/or internal tools? That would be a cool "Talking Dead" video for those who like the game development process.

The question I have concerning these three things is will the main characters from The Walking Dead game end up appearing in the show or the comic or is it just going to be a just for the game thing for these characters.

I actually know the answer to this. lol. The characters in the game are completely made up, besides Glen from episode 1. The TTG team sat down with the Walking Dead creator (as they do for every episode) and made them up.

BUT with that said, I could see the creator (his name escapes my mind right now), working them into the show/ comic book. So its not unfeasible. But that is the knowledge on that, that I have. If anyone knows more about it, please correct me or add to it.

Robert kirkman is the creator. The game is based off the comics, not the tv show. Lily, glenn, hershal are all in the comics. The current comic is 2 years from the outbreak, while the game is only 3 months since the outbreak, and the comic is nowhere near savanah, so the chances are very slim anyone new in the game is going to make the comics. Know what you are talking about before answering. And the game dev and kirkman have stated that kirkman was given the story arc at beginning, and he approved it. The writer is not there with telltale helping them write any if the episodes, or helping create characters for the game.

    **SPOILERS**

Actually there are some options in episode 3 where it shows that Lee is sad about Carley's demise, particularly when you're talking to Clem, Katjaa, and Ben.

Lee doesn't seem the type openly express his emotions though since he didn't really cry when he saw his brother was a walker and his parents are dead.

I do agree with you though that Lee's reaction toward Carley's death was kind of glossed over.

So TTG, considering how popular Carley is in the Walking Dead community, is it possible for Carley's death to have more impact on Lee on the next episode?? Particularly a confrontation and argument with Ben concerning what happened at the RV??

Maybe Lee managed to take Carley's glock to serve as a memento ;)

    **SPOILERS**

Yeah, sure I'm aware he was upset about her death, but my point was that was pretty minimal (or "glossed over")...y'know. Considering.
Although if he did take her gun as a memento it'd be pretty hard to know which one out of the seemingly infinite source of glocks was hers...unless Clemie-Clem put a girly sticker on it for her?

I definitely expect to see some kind of fierce confrontation with Slim Ben over (rather than "I could kill you, y'know? For real!") this and more dialogue options towards Clem or the new characters Christa & Omid mentioning Car and his feelings for her and pain over her loss.
(e.g. 'Clem: "Lee? Do you miss Carley? She was real nice to me...it's so sad"
Lee: (A)"Let's not talk about that" (B)"I'm used to it by now, hon" (C)"Yeah, I really liked her. For real." (D)"...[because silence is always the lazy option]")

The zombie chick with the screwdriver in her shoulder coming out of the alley in episode one is someone, isn't she? Either she works for Telltale or she's someone's girlfriend, wife, or ex?

I didn't get that they were. I asked if she was someone real or a reprising character, but no. All I was told is that they wanted to make her notably different so you'd remember her when she grabbed Clem.

Weird, they actually did make a statement about it on Twitter, but I can't seem to find it now. I think it said they submitted the EU version at the same time as the US PSN version, but don't quote me on that until I can actually find it.

Apparently it was removed shortly after, probably didn't want to bad mouth one of their release partners.

Will there be any other characters from the comics in the game in Season 2?
  • edited September 2012
This is more of a suggestion, but anyway:

Have you considered adding subtle visual changes (based on your choices) to the game?

Environmental Example: Clementine would produce hopeful drawings if you have been treating her nicely, or dismal drawings if you have been treating her harshly.

Character Example: Kenny will care less about his appearance if nobody supports him after the death of the people closest to him, or maintain his appearance if you offer support.

    Hello Team,
I am new here so I am not sure where should I post my query.
I am from India. I am using Playstation 3 320 GB Move Edition.
I have downloaded The walking dead Episodes 1 & 2 from Playstation Store earlier. I see that Episode 3 was released on 28 Aug 2012, which I had been waiting for so eagerly. But I am not able to find it on Playstation Store.
Can you please tell me whether it has been released for India or not yet. If not, Can you please tell me when will it be available for download in India?
Looking forward to hear from you.

    Regards
    Satyendra

Im going to re-post this complaint here and hopefully ill get some kind of feedback from telltale...

So i have a complaint, unlike anyone on this site ever...

    SPOILERS

So i had a game in which i was on lilly's side, and then she shot carly in the face. brought her to the train, she stole the van. I then saved the game and quit until next time.

When I loaded my game, i spoke with Ben (the one in the blue jacket) and he was saying that he's sorry for killing Carly, and he had no choice.

    WTF!

    a. this spoils the surprise for if i made different decisions leading up to carly's death
    b. how retarded is a game that is tailored to your previous decisions if it cant even remember my decisions correctly? it ruins the WHOLE PREMISE of why we like this game.

SUCH b.s. The episode itself was good, had its jaw-dropping moments, but it felt ruined after this happened, like nothing i was doing was actually being saved correctly anyway.

My question needs a little intro, and since I'm french, might contain some horrendous English, so sorry about that :).

When I first heard about a Walking dead game that wouldn't be a FPS and focused on the storytelling, my first thought was : "Awesome! Finally a game that seems tailored to my tastes" And the next thought was: "And the character is a male.. of course".

Now I don't mean to say that I didn't like Lee as a character. I did. As a matter of fact, all the characters are top-notch, very well-made and feels real, which plays, to me at least, a great role in getting attached to the game (with replayability). It seems nowadays that if you want to play as a female, the choices of games are more than limited (Bioware games and Lara croft are the only examples that come to my mind) and I must say that even if I don't dislike playing as a male, playing a female helps me feel closer to the character, identifying with him, and not almost just playing him as a third party.

So, I was wondering if having a female character was discussed and tossed aside because male gamers are the majority and it wouldn't appeal to them, or maybe not discussed at all, or if it's be something you would do later or in other games?

Wait can you clarify? Ben cannot kill Carly in the game. Do you mean about him being the traitor of the group? If so, then that doesn't really spoil the story for you if you replay...

    sure...

i said to Ben "Carly didnt have to die u know" angrily.
and Ben says "It was her or me man! I didnt have a choice!"

and then LATER when i walked by him, THEN he admitted that he was stealing the goods.
