The Legendary Monkey Island FanArt

Junaid · June 2009

For those of you who were not a part of the Monkey Island community back in the days, there was a lot of fanart, as can be seen here

I don't know about you guys but I got inspired right away when I saw the Tales of Monkey Island footage and I've been sketching like a madman the past two days.

Any artists in here? I'm curious if we'll see some new ecxiting work. And I of course hope dat some old favorites like Ado will come back to make some more masterpieces

Jayel · June 2009

I looove making Monkey Island fan art, but I don't think it's kosher anymore. Not that it ever was.

OMA · June 2009

This is one really cool fanart:
http://javasb.blogspot.com/2008/11/secret-of-monkey-island.html

LucasArts should have hired him to make the new "Secret of Monkey Island (Special Edition)" cover artwork, instead of the odd character designs seen here:

pluizig · June 2009

I'm still secretly hoping that Paco will someday finish his Secret of Monkey Island comic someday, and if Tales doesn't get him inspired, nothing will.

Jake · June 2009

Tales has pulled Paco back in to some degree, as he and Dalixam are working on www.talesofmi.net !

S@bre · June 2009

They don't have the artwork I used for my avatar

. I lost the file on my hard drive ages ago and can't remember where I got it from now...

AdoC · June 2009

I just preordered My copy of Tales of Monkey Island and I decided to go to forum...and what a pleasant surprise.

Thank you Junaid for all those kind words and hopefully sometime soon I'll do more work.

But in meantime, I'll post a three pages of my sketchbook, where each page continues into another. I hope you guys will like it...

I love Paco's comic. Maybe if he finishes it he can get it published through Telltale (with LA's permission of course)

Haha indeed! I'm seeing lots of familiar faces around, and both World of MI and the SCUMM Bar have re-launched or started new sites. Good times.

Your MI art was and is some of my favorite! I hope you go against your own (better?) judgement, and make some more someday.

HoppyDragon · June 2009

This isn't exactly fan art, but it's related enough that I thought I should post it here rather than make a new topic.

This was sketched for me by the one and only Steve Purcell at San Diego Comic-Con 2007.

HoppyDragon · June 2009

Just for fun, I whipped up a 2D TMI Guybrush Threepwood.

Junaid · June 2009

hehe nice work

Masquerade · June 2009

Jayel · June 2009

Jake: Thanks... I think I'm slated for EMI secret history article header image, so I guess I'm bound to make one soon anyway. :P

LeChuckichu · June 2009

Yeah! I remember the great site World of Monkey Island! I submitted some of tha fanart back in 2003... Check the artist ''Kristoffer Kjær''!

Excellent news, and I will begin working on TalesOfMI.co.uk - I owned and ran EscapeFromMI.com back in 2000 - 2003

Irishmile · June 2009

Something I did a long time ago

Irishmile · June 2009

BTW great stuff AdoC

danisegarra · June 2009

How about the FanArt called "Pirates of the Caribbean"? :P

HoppyDragon · June 2009

danisegarra wrote: »

That was just a rip-off.

Irishmile · June 2009

I think it would be relevant only if the fanart was done in the style of the theme park ride.... Because honestly... MI copies POTC ride... POTC Movie Copies MI.

leopard9090 · June 2009

the italian project is only a fake one it probably will not released it was only a joke...
or not?

monkey_05_06 · June 2009

Years ago I pulled up a neat little site I used from time to time called artPad and came up with this:

http://artpad.art.com/gallery/?j5idqjpcmh4

To be honest...when I started I had no idea where I was going with this thing. The part that became Guybrush's neck was originally his ponytail but I decided it was too far down...and too huge.

Then by the time I got to LeChuck's hat I simply couldn't make up my mind. It was kind of brashly thrown together, but ultimately I'm happy with the end-result.

Here's a fanart a friend of mine did just now -

I actually thought he finished it by now, guess I was wrong with that.

doodo! · June 2009

I see, I would have to do something noteworthy before posting it here.

Micki! · June 2009

I made another one, thanks for showing the first i made Armakuni...

Oh my i'm so naughty... I should draw her properly dressed at some point, haha

Due to forum regulations and sensitive members, the drawing contains a censor bar to retain viewable for anyone, although, honestly, there's nothing there, no really... I just put the text there to be safe...

Regretably, i haven't even played a single MI game ever, although i'd love to, especially the third, i love the art style...

Wicked Mouse · June 2009

hehehe pretty darn nice drawings of Elaine, though it wouldn't really fit her character as seen in the game(s)

"It's not polite to stare at a woman's chest."

I'm tempted to colour them in Photoshop

Irishmile · June 2009

I wanna color them too.

Secret Fawful · June 2009

Make her green and maybe you'll attract some Trekkies to the Monkey Island franchise. *raises eyebrows up and down*

Wicked Mouse · June 2009

Here I coloured it partially with Illustrator

and a very quick one in Photoshop with just some colour overlay:

skylebones · June 2009

I'm not normally one for fan art. But man I just had to make something after hearing about the new games.

here is a Speed model of LeChuck. Or at least how I imagined he would look. Done in Z-Brush this afternoon.

Shiversul · June 2009

Thats really awesome!

LuigiHann · June 2009

This isn't very exciting fan art, but after I started working on my Day of the Tentacle Winamp Skin, I was having trouble coming up with designs for anything other than the main window, so I toyed for a bit with each window showcasing a different game.

It didn't come out that great, so I ended up going back to an all-DoTT skin. Someday I might make a Monkey-Island themed skin somehow, but I don't make skins like I used to, these days.

Micki! · June 2009

Cool Coloring job Wicked Mouse

And that's a pretty awesome model skylebones

Lol, THAT's what I mean when I say "more polygons". Your LeChuck just rocks!

Shiversul · June 2009

Lucasarts needs to find the person that did the SoMI comic, and hire that person to make an official one!
