I bolded some important parts that might be of more interest.
Just tried the demo. I'm surprised at how faithful the MT-32 soundtrack in classic mode is to a real MT-32! There are differences. It's not 100% accurate but it is 99.99% accurate. Woodtick (which sounds very nice on a real MT-32) sounds absolutely horrible in classic mode here. Inside the huts of Woodtick sound perfect but outside the huts sounds very very bad. Like they used the horrible Piano patch from the MT-32 for some crazy insane reason. I have no idea why. It's supposed to be a bass and organ and the "Soundtrack" patch (which wasn't even recorded in either classic or special edition mode). Hopefully it'll be possible to patch the classic soundtrack with proper recordings from the MT-32 when resource file viewers for MI2:SE present themselves.
The iMuse is VERY satisfactory. It's not exactly 100% like playing the old game in MIDI but it's so close even I have trouble telling the difference. None of you will notice a difference. One thing I did notice, however, is that in certain sections they only use one version of the transition (such as when Largo leaves...there are a few variances of transitions in the MIDI version...only one in the SE). But for others it seems perfectly intact.
I'm very impressed with the graphics and animation as I knew I would be. The direct control for Guybrush is also very nice and intuitive when using a controller. And the ability to switch it off is nice. Same with speech in classic mode. Fits well. But you cannot turn off subtitles in classic mode when speech is activated, if some of you were looking forward to that. There are no awkward pauses between dialogue lines this time around. It feels and sounds very natural. Also, Neil Ross as Wally is excellent!
Everything impresses me. The biggest thing I wanted to check out was how they handled the soundtrack, and while there are a few screwups (Woodtick was a big one...worse in classic mode than SE mode, however) I'm very impressed and satisfied. They must have actually acquired an actual MT-32 and recorded everything from the raw iMuse MIDI files themselves when putting it together for classic mode. It's stunning and very enjoyable.
The only thing is you'll not be able to enjoy the classic version of the intro theme. In fact, you won't be able to enjoy the intro sequence at all because it doesn't exist. It's no where in the game. I was hoping that you'd be able to see it from the menu with the options to select to view the classic or special edition credits. Unfortunately, they're both just regular test scrolls with the SE version of the theme playing. No classic intro guys, sorry . On the upside, the special edition version of the theme is very well done and true to the original.
What version are you playing, MusicallyInspired? I play it on the iPod, so maybe they cut the intro because of disc-space (weird), or its just an error. Could be, since the animated monkeys excist (as seen on the webpage), also you hear a part of the remastered theme-song in the CGI-trailer.
What they also did very well is the pacing of the voiced dialogue. No akward pauses between the sentences like in MI1:SE, it sounds very fluent!
Yes, indeed! The pacing is excellent this time around.

I'm playing the PS3 version. No excuse for cut content due to file size here. And the monkeys are there....but only in the LucasArts logo. It all lasts about 5-10 seconds. Nothing elaborate. The monkeys dance and the LucasArts logo shoos them away and then it goes straight to the Monkey Island 2 title logo with a PRESS START text. And once you press start it goes straight to the menu which plays the theme. Upon starting a new game it shows Guybrush hanging and Elaine talking to him and then goes straight to Scabb Island immediately.
'how am I supposed to know to switch to another menu to pick up something' if it doesnt use the call of duty control system its too confusing apparantly. that was a stressful 9mins
That sucks! I love this sequence. This iteration of the theme is easily my favorite, and I would have loved to hear it played with real instruments. =(
Whenever I get around to buying this, it's going to feel weird playing it without that intro sequence.
This video just depresses me and shows how bad modern gamers are. "I play Forza and Halo 3 so this game is way too slow and therefore it sucks." Gah, anyone who would say "Skip this game" is just...ugh worthy...
They probably hated it because it actually required intelligence and they had only so much. Might as well as said "I was playing it and I was like, what, I need to be smart to play this? I don't want to think, I want to shoot."
Ah, for goodness sake. They botched the bone song, at least on the PS3 version. The vocals are out of sync with the music. The music over all sounds great, of course, except for a couple of timing issues and one or two minor things I noticed.

Like I said, they did redo the theme and you can hear it over the scrolling text credits and the menu. But the same credit sequence from the original game is missing. The music is there (not in classic mode), but not the animation sequence.
For anyone that is playing the PS3 version, can they tell me what MusicallyInspired meant by:
"Woodtick (which sounds very nice on a real MT-32) sounds absolutely horrible in classic mode here."
does he mean the music in classic mode is no longer the same?
No. It's the same theme but in classic mode it sounds awful. It uses the wrong instruments than what the MT-32 used. But both the classic and special edition modes are missing the "Soundtrack" patch instrument. Everything in each Woodtick hut sounds correct, but in-between theme that plays when you're walking between them is awful (in classic mode) and missing an instrument.

i just thought of something. You know how in some games when a "press start" screen appears, and you leave it like that without pressing the instructed button, an animation appears, similar to a screensaver? Maybe that's what triggers the credits sequence. Has anyone with the PS3 version tried it?
I haven't finished watching, but I'm already wanting to kill the people talking. I hate people who treat point and click games unfairly.
Yes... There's seems to be an awful amount of people talking down the point & click... The part where they say "you fight in insults, it's really stupid cause you don't actually fight" is specially annoying... What a bunch of ****...
But well, it's they're loss if they can't enjoy the brilliance of MI...

I'm pretty sure this doesn't work on the iPod lite version, I just tried.
Well, LucasArts isn't in the Eastern time zone. Also, nobody ever said it would be a midnight release. According to the Steam store, it'll unlock at 10 AM EDT, 11 hours and 47 minutes from now.
That didn't prevent it from being released on the PSN and iTunes store already.
Just because they did it doesn't mean Steam is going to. They've set an unlock time and they're sticking to it. In the meantime, we'll all just have to be frustrated knowing that the damn game is already on our computers and yet unplayable.

Haha well I'm moreso waiting for the Xbox Live version although I have purchased the Steam version.

I'm not even going to comment on that.
Oh, and uh, yeah, WHY DID THEY TAKE OUT THE INTRO. THAT WAS CLASSIC. That makes me so mad. SOOO MAD.

Seriously, stop trolling.
At least he didn't mention Escape:D

That's not nearly as bad as this:

Augh!
Because its still the 6th of July where LucasArts is.
It is in the Eastern Time Zone.

The original game is hopelessly outdated, we've had it for 20 years
Sure it sucks if they did a bad job reimplementing it - but who cares
You bought it for the new version, not the old, if the old is broken, well...whatever, who cares.
