Follow up question.
If I've bought the whole season on PSN, will I have to check the network for the next episode and download it, or will it be downloaded or I be notified the next time I log on after it's release?

With Sam and Max season 3 you got a message sent via PSN that a new episode was available to download. It was usually pretty late for me, though; I always had it downloaded by the time the message showed up.
It won't automatically download -- you have to do it yourself.
Does anybody have any idea when episode 2 will come out? Or how far behind the other episodes will be compared to the PC version?
Well at the end of episode 1 the trailer for episode 2 said coming Feb 2011. So it is possible it will be out next Tuesday since it would be the last psn update in Feb.
I have successfully completed episode 1 and earned all the trophies and everything I needed to get for that episode. So I assumed that i would be able to play the next episode right away, considering that I bought the 5 episode bundle from the playstation store.
I realize that not all of the episodes are going to be released at once, but i figured, since the second episode is out already, i would be able to play it right away as soon as I was finished earning everything in the first episode, but obviously this isn't the case.
I am really having trouble understanding how i will be able to play the second episode. Will it just update to my playstation automatically? Or is there some weird thing i have to go through in order to be able to play it.
I am loving BTTF ep. 1 on the iPad. Great game so far! Other than a framerate niggle here and there, it's pretty good.
I was wondering with the recent release of (PS3/PC/Mac) ep. 2, when might ipad players might see ep. 2?
Very excited to see the continuity of the excellent story.
Thanks a ton for bringing your magic over to iOS. I hope iOS is a successful venture for Telltale. I'm stoked that Jurassic Park could also arrive on iPad.
BTTF is the first TTG game I've ever purchased and played, I'm hooked! Hadn't not been for Telltale supporting Apple and iPad, I'd have been missing out on this wonderful series.
If you took the time to read the info in the game where you purchase as with Sam and Max and Tales of Monkey Island it shows the different release months for the different episodes.
I have to say, being a bttf fan all my life, playing the first episode of the BTTF game on PS3 was quite enjoyable, other than a few mild cringes at some of the voice acting - which made me wonder "is this a kid's game?..no, can't be, they swear just like they used to in the movie".
But superficial nic-pickings aside, I thought helping Doc break out of a 1930's jail was really fun. Solving puzzles really makes you feel like you're Marty McFly, the story is solid, and ..finally a BTTF game that isn't a flaming piece of crap! ^_^ So you can imagine why I was a little disappointed when I wasn't able to play the next episode right away. This happened to be around the time the pc and mac versions were released, and, since there wasn't any clear indication on specific episode dates; other than it's initial download release date for the bundle pack on the playstation store, you can understand my confusion. So i thought it would only be fair to ask..
WHEN THE HELL ARE THE NEXT EPISODES FOR THE PS3 GOING TO BE RELEASED?!
I can understand the lower price and the later release dates, but you can't provide PS3 fans with a little information on the release of episodes?
damn i was about to post this =P lool YEAH WHERES THE REALSE DATE FOR EPISODE 2 !!!!

Get Tannen was released in February 11, it never said anything in the episode about whether or not that applied to the PS3 version or not.
And congratulations to Telltale in being selected as the iPad Game Of The Week. It's still in the top 20 downloads list which is fantasic for a game of this price.
Looking forward to Telltale breaking their miserable iPad record and making this the first time multiple episodes of a Telltale game are made available (whatever happened to the other episodes of Monkey Island we were promised?).
Agree with RJ. Why can't we have release date(s) for PS3. Also, I'm new to downloading episode games - I actually purchased a PS3 just to play BTTF - can anyone confirm how future episodes will be downloaded? I mean, do they download automatically when released or do I have to check the Playstation Store daily?

Actually next Tuesday will be March 1st which is a total pisser since the promo at the end of episode one on the PS3 said that Get Tannen would be available February 2011.
From what I understand, the release dates for the remaining episodes will be staggered, meaning that PS3 users won't have access to the next episode until a month after it has already released on the PC. The reason I think this is because episode 1 was released on the PS3 a day before episode was released on the PC. I really don't get this marketing tactic. Is Telltale just being loyal to their PC base? Do they need to extra time to port it over to the PS3? Or are they just hoping to sell as many copies as they can on the PC since they don't have to share their profits with Sony?

I'm assuming they would have to be downloaded automactically if you bought the bundle for 19.99, but i guess there's really no way of knowing that because apparently telltale doesn't give out confidential information like that. =\

Well, that's another reason one can totally hate marketing. I mean if they didn't want to share the profits with Sony, then why did they even bother having it be released on a home console?! What, were they thinking with their heads, or their heads up their vault sealed asses? To wait a month after the next episode is released on PC, when the PS3 version was released before it, seems like a giant middle-finger to those who enjoy their gaming on their couch in front of a big television screen, where, I myself along with probably alot of other people, have enjoyed watching the BTTF movies the most on. So why not put that market first in front of everything else? To me, it seems naive that they wouldn't.
Honestly, i wouldn't have even considered buying the game if it weren't for the fact i could enjoy playing the game on my TV.
Also, if what you're saying is correct about them releasing the PS3 version before the PC version, they shouldn't have that much of a problem porting it to the PS3. Let alone trill over it for a month doing so.
The release date for Get Tannen! on the PSN is still unannounced. The thing you are mentioning though, carried over from the PC release of Episode 1. We are hard at work at getting Get Tannen! onto the PSN though, so it will come as soon as possible. We aren't trying to be secretive, at all.
When he says "the thing you are mentioning", he means
a short promo at the end which states that "Get Tannen" would be available in February 2011
which means that "February 2011" might not apply to the PS3.
Finally, HonestAbel's above post is a little misleading as it's missing a number. Indeed, episode 1 on PS3 was released a day before episode 2 was released for PC and Mac.
Why didn't TellTale just develop both versions of the game at the same instead of one at a time. Sam & Max seemed to work perfectly when both version were released at the same time.
When we want to put a game on any of the major consoles, we have to send Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/etc a finished version of the game for approval. This approval process usually takes at least two weeks--sometimes longer, if the company finds problems or requests that changes be made. Every game that comes out for every console goes through this same process.
On Sam & Max Season 3, the PS3 versions were developed first, and the PC/Mac versions were finished while the PS3 versions were in the approval process. So when each episode was approved and we knew when it would be up on the Playstation Network, we could release the PC/Mac versions at about the same time.
With BttF, it was decided to develop the PC/Mac versions first, which is why they're coming out earlier--the PSN versions don't take that much longer to finish, but the approval process can take a while, and those versions can't come out until they're completely approved.
Thanks Caleb. That does help. Just wish TellTale had a tab "Upcoming Releases" or such which we could check each day in an instant. You could have it say "BTTF PS3: TBD" until you actually have a date. That way, I could check status each day rather quickly.

Hope that clears things up a bit.

I want to play episode 2 but my shitty computer for some reason won't let me run it but it did for episode 1
I wanted to buy the psn version only if episode 2 is available...which so far hasn't been talked about.

Yeah i will check it as it gets closer thought i would post it here though to see if telltale would respond.

Likely you won't get an official TellTale response until Monday. It's way past closing time for them, and they don't work on the weekend.:p
Its not the weekend though tomorrow is Friday.
Oh crap. I spent all day thinking it was Friday.
That'd be awesome!
But it is friday now, Friday 14:31 pm to be more precise, here tough.
UK/EU release dates have not been revealed, but they were said to be "soon" after the US. Clearly that did not equal to the "same week".
