It'll probably be out a few days before episode 3, and we'll start this whole song and dance over again.

You speak the truth. Another one of these topics just popped up (different TC). I think Telltale needs to mention somewhere that the PSN version is an episode behind. The "Episode 2 Available Now!" banner and the "Coming February 2011" at the end of the trailer seem to be confusing people that think they apply to all versions.

Otherwise, you're right. It'll be the same ol' song and dance with Episode 3 :p

ya if theyare monthly episodes then episode 2 should of been out on the psn store weeks ago duh!

I just think it's pretty lame that at the end of the Episode 1 on the PS3 version that it shows will be out Feb 2011. Yet, here we are with no Episode.

Tell Tale, while I love your work, please don't display a date if you don't intend on meeting it. You just made the game itself a lie. This is just bad PR for a good game :(

I was quite disappointed at what I bought was Episode bundle 1-5 and all I got was 1. The description needs to be a little more clear that not all eplisodes are released yet. And what you bought was all 5 but they will be released on a "monthly basis" uhh.. one would only assume consecutive months :(

Sorry, I'm just excited to play Episode 2. I suggest to Tell Tale that at the end of Episode 2 that they do not display a date like they did for Episode 1 to avoid this ruckus. :P

Who cares about PSN? We are drooling for Episode 3 for PC. (which is the better version).

If it makes you feel any better, the PC/Mac version said February 2010, so we were REALLY gypped. :P

Guys, I think it's best for us to wait for a game without bugs. :)
I don't really care when the next episode is going to be released , as long as there's a good game without bugs. :)

Most, if not all, of the games are finished and ready to be pushed instantaneously. Otherwise, they wouldn't constrain themselves with a monthly schedule. If they weren't, they probably should have put it out every two months or more, as that would give them more time to fix bugs, etc.

Like Firefox 4 being pushed back so much. It said November 2010, then February 2011, now it says Spring / March. You don't want telltale games to do that too, right? That's why the BTTF game has been in development for quite some time, much longer than Christmas.

Anyone know when this is hitting the EU PSN Store ?

    Thanks

Hmm...I never thought that way! :)

That's not true at all. While each of the games are already in some level of development, Telltale doesn't finish a game until the release day.

What I wonder most about is: will the rest of the episodes be delayed in the same way? Episode 3 will release soon on PC, and I can't even buy episode 1 on PS3 because I live in Europe. If we're getting the other episodes a month later (like the US PSN), that's fine. But there's no reason why Europe should get every episodes a few weeks later (like the first episode).

Just a simple question, why do you play Back To The Future on PS3? :)
  • edited March 2011
So, any news when the PS3 version hits the eu psn store?
  • edited March 2011
If there is no problem, it will be released on Wednesday (March 9th).
It was announced on the EU PS blog, but there may be some last-minute delay.

Episode 3 is about to drop...............any week now!!!

Presumably the same reason people play Telltale games on any platform: I like adventure games. Being a Back to the Future fan doesn't hurt either.

Just because I like the platform more. I prefer to play the old Telltale games on PC, but recent games control just as well with a controller.

Is there ANY word on episode 2 for PSN yet?

Sometime in March for PC in Mac. Don't know (but later) for iPad and PS3.
  • edited March 2011
The psn already has the copy TT sent, takes time to put it up. we are only 1 ep behind, so either ep2 will be up tues or fri on psn or around the time of ep3 release on pc, just like last time.

Why do people always ask stupid questions like this?
Stop acting like everyone has computers capable of running sophisticated games. Or maybe he just likes console gaming better, who knows? It's the same game.

I bought the $20 "bundle" for my son on the Playstation Network. He finished Episode 1 today and he was excited to see that Episode 2 is "out now," as the game explicitly tells you that it arrives in February of 2011.

Well. Here we are. In March.

WHERE THE F IS EP. 2? WHY DID I PAY $20 FOR LIES?
  • edited March 2011
From what I can gather, the Feb release date was referencing the PC release date, which was indeed in February. I have no clue why the Feb message was left in the PS3 version.

As for when Episode 2 will come out, we don't have any indication and likely won't until the game comes out. My best guess would be in the next 1-2 weeks on a Tuesday, but I can't really say for sure.

The commercial is aimed at the PC mostly... and the actual posting of episode 2 on the PS3 is not only in TellTale's hands.

It's like shooting the waiter because the pizza sucked. He just brought it to you. The cook made it :p

Wouldn't that be the other way around? Telltale's the one making it, Sony's the one delivering it. It's more like shooting the cook because the waiter sucked.
  • I got it for PC because it was out first for PC but if they were both out at the same time, I'd have gotten PS3 first. Games run far smoother on PS3.

It's not exactly false advertising. I think it was just a honest mistake. The PC version of BTTF Episode 1 was released before the PS3/PSN version, and it had the same message about Episode 2 being available in February, which is true for the PC version (it was released in mid-February).

It was just that the same message was mistakenly carried over to the PS3 port of the game, which has different release dates than the PC version. I think they should fix that message for the PS3 version though, to avoid further confusions.
  • edited March 2011
I'm just saying it's pretty lame on the part of Telltale Games. An honest mistake is one thing; completing ignoring paying customers after said mistake is another.

They have our money, I think we deserve a release date on every version of the game, especially after they mistakenly advertised an incorrect date. Other PSN titles have release dates and BTTF should be no different.

When is Episode 2 coming to PS3? I bought the full unlock for the series and it seems that Mac and PC have them already...when can I expect it on the PS3? If its not coming, could I at least get it for Mac then to make up for the payment?
  • edited March 2011
Telltale is primarily a PC developer. All of their games have been made for computers first and consoles second (if at all). They said Episode 2 would come out in February, and it did...for the PC and Mac. They made it clear the PS3 versions of each BttF episode would come out after the PC/Mac version.

I admit, Telltale probably should've edited the "Coming (insert month) here" parts for the PS3 versions of those credits teasers if the PS3 versions wouldn't be coming that month, so you do have a right to be upset. I'd like to know myself just why the PS3 versions are being delayed. (I know delays have been standard so far whenever Telltale tries doing episodic gaming on consoles, but most of that has been on the Wii and Xbox 360, while the PS3 version of each episode of The Devil's Playhouse came out the same time as the PC/Mac version, a 1-2 day delay at most.) But don't get mad at them for lying when it was just a miscommunication. All the episodes are coming, including for the PS3. Just hang in there, or if you really want to play Episode 2 right now, get it on the PC.

Also, something you should know about demanding "exact release dates." Due to how most of Telltale's games have been episodic and they sometimes cut things close with the development time (development on Puzzle Agent finished literally hours before release), they almost never give exact release dates, and when they do it'll just be a few days before the date itself. That's not a console thing either. We don't know the exact release dates for the PC episodes. Hell, they didn't even tell us when Episode 2 would come out beforehand (besides February, of course). It just...showed up. It sucks being left in suspense, but it's a small price to pay for having the games released so quickly.

Basically, they usually don't announce exact release dates because they pride themselves on quick releases. Nobody likes hearing the game they've been anticipating has been delayed, and Telltale doesn't want to give a release date unless they're positive it can come out on that day. Usually they just give a release month, and, as far as PCs are concerned, I don't think they've ever failed to release something on the promised month. Granted, the rushed development can be something of a complaint in itself (and some people think Telltale should abandon the episodic format entirely so their games can be more focused), but at this point I'm rambling.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is it's coming. Be patient. ;)
  • edited March 2011
March for PC/Mac. Later for PS3. Later still for iPad.

Telltale doesn't give exact release dates too often.
  • edited March 2011
I'm not trying to argue here (although there is plenty to argue about). I'm just saying that the complete lack of communication after advertising on the PS3 that Episode 2 would be coming out in February is unacceptable.

And it's a shame. The game is pretty cool, but I doubt I will buy another Telltale game anytime soon after this nonsense.
  • edited March 2011
I'm just going to repost the response I gave on another topic asking the same question. Telltale really needs to address this mistake on their website, since there's like five new topics about this made every day:

Plus, instead of making new threads, just keep your eye on the Release date discussions (merged threads) as all of the previous topics made about the subject have been consolidated, and that'll probably be one of the first (if not THE first) places where you'll find any updates about the release date. Plus, I'm sure this thread will be moved into that topic very shortly anyway...

The PC/Mac version of Episode 1 came out at the end of December, and Episode 2 came out in February. The PS3 version of Episode 1 came out in February, and since this is a monthly series, expect Episode 2 around the same time Episode 3 comes out for PC/Mac. PS3 is an episode behind, and that's just the way it is. The reason it says February 2011 for Episode 2 at the end of Episode 1 seems to be that it wasn't updated to correspond with PS3 release dates. Also, apparently it's up to the PSN as to when exactly the game is released on their store - basically it's out of Telltale's hands. I hope that clears things up!
  • edited March 2011
Ok here it goes again lol, in bold this time since everyone asks this question atleast 2 threads a day. The psn store already has the ep2 that tt sent, they have to get it ready and work out any bugs... It will be on the psn either tues or fri since those are psn next update dates. Im pretty sure it will be here this comming week. We are a month behind cause the game was formated 1st for pc because at the time gta vice city bttf mod was very popular so tt said what the hell lets format it for pc.

Believe it or not games need to be tested, you know so they work like they should and dont break your console! Its all in sony's hand right now, Fatshark sent them a patch about 3-4 months ago and its yet to be put up! Some things take longer than others. Im pretty sure if Telltale could release Episode 2 right now they would!
  • edited March 2011
OHH THE HARDSHIPS! OHHH THE HUMANITY! It's totally not worth your time or money, I agree man. This is nonsense! I want my pudding now!

I agree a explanation should be given, but having been given one, I think that you might not have such a problem with this. I'm sure there's a legitimate reason and that in short time you'll get your episode.

How is it on the PS3? Only a few people would know...
  • edited March 2011
We were aiming for a January release for Episode 1 on PSN but a number of delaying factors, including the approval process, made that impossible. We had already turned the game in with a February tag in the teaser video for Episode 2 when Episode 1 launched that month. Because of the delayed schedule, Episode 2 would not be hitting in February, but we're working on getting it into your hands soon! We'll absolutely keep you posted when we know more.

    Apologies for any confusion.
