Female Protagonist for Series 2 PLEASE!

edited December 2012 in The Walking Dead
I mean season 2, lol can't edit title apparently...

Please Telltale! I know it'd be hard to give us a choice of gender or character in general. So therefore I think you should just make the protagonist female.

It would really help change up the feel of the game and give survival a whole new look. Plus I know some guys would be for it, apparently they prefer looking at a girl's backside while they play anyway :P

And you wouldn't be the first zombie-related fiction to have a female protagonist with Resident Evil and all. Imagine it, it would be awesome!

Plus, I know you'd be able to do a female protagonist justice!

I'd love you forever and ever Telltale! ;)

Uhm... no thanks. I'd prefer it remained an adventure game.

It would also help to seperate the two Seasons better as well.

Instead of people going "Season one was with that guy... Then season 2 to was with that other guy, remember?"

It could be "Season one was with the guy, Lee. Then season two was with the chick, remember?"

    See the difference?

Tomb Raider wasn't an adventure game?

I don't mean cross breed those two games and bastardize what Telltale have created. I just mean in terms of Protagonist. Keep the game exactly the way it is Telltale, it's great, bar a few bugs.

I wouldn't mind seeing that. I think it would be better for the series if it was anthology style like American Horror Story. New setting, new cast and new problems. It would keep things fresh and be easy on Telltale for development along with new fans who have not played the first season. I am sure there are plenty of stories to be told.

No, they need to bring some Merle type of guy if we won't be seeing Lee in the second season.
  • edited September 2012
Hmmmm...that's not a bad idea. In the novel Rise of the Governor, there is a female named April that would make a great protagonist. She's more of a tomb raider type but she likes kids so throw in another 1st grader and we could be set for season 2.

Fuck that. Men are the ultimatum in zombie flicks. All girls can do is scream and fall down.

I’m not sexist, it’s just alway been that way
  • edited September 2012
That's odd, seeing as it's Lee that does all the falling down in this season.

    It was an action platformer.

As far as character is concerned then aside from the TnA I'm not very impressed with the character of Lara Croft, same with the protagonists in dead island who are just caricatures (it's trailer was the best thing about it).

Telltale should do what Telltale does best with season 2, if they have a female protagonist (which I'm not against, my second favourite adventure game has a female protagonist) make her flawed, throw in some shades of grey, give her some depth and allow us to empathise with her situation like we do with Lee.

Jeez. Does it have to be marketed as Tomb Raider? You know, there can be better female heroes than Lara "Stare At My Tits" Croft.

Female protagonist, yes. Marketably female, NO.

Rather harsh words for not being sexist...

Telltale does a really good job with women characters in this game in my opinion. Aside from Lilly later on, the women characters are more or less the most rational and sensible characters in the game. They also do that thing I love of making great women characters who do not need to be sexed up to be strong and compelling individuals. Heck, they actually put MORE layers on Carley each episode and she is still attractive and interesting.

I'm totally for a female lead if they can make them interesting. It would be nice to have more strong, non-fantasized portrayals of women in gaming. And no, I don't want a Lara Croft in TWD. Maybe a Carla Valenti (Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy) or something like that.
  • edited September 2012
GOD, Carla wasn't much better. She was sure in a hurry to give up her job to play girlfriend to the popsicle boy of the apocalypse. I don't like any women David Cage writes. They're all sorta-tough, then seek trouble and get in over their heads, then fall in love for no reason.

I agree 100% That's what I meant when I said Telltale would do a female protagonist justice because you know they wouldn't just throw some short-shorts and a tank top on her and say "now go kill some zombies."

From what I've seen of the female characters in season 1, I think they could do us women justice, instead of being all "Witcher 2" type girls.

Ok, here´s a crazy idea...What if Lee survives?
  • edited September 2012
I said that Lee should cameo in the second series in the circumstances you left him. Maybe he's still protecting Clem. Maybe he's barely alive and living without a reason. That way we can still see Lee and have a new protagonist, even a woman.

Then maybe he can have a cameo or something?

Do people really like Lee that much?

His Voice Actor is amazing, I must admit.

tbh, I cant see Lee surviving, unless it's a cliffhanger type (did he survive?) ending. Too many people have fallen around him for him to get through it unscathed.
  • edited September 2012
Honestly, I find anyone's survival unlikely.

Honestly, I dont like him that much myself, BUT. Lets say he dies and in season 2, we have a new main character. This means we have to go through all this again right? I mean, this character has to make the same or similar experiences. We have to connect with this new person somehow, otherwise he (or she) just would be "some new guy".
Hope you understand what I mean. And besides, I hope I wrote everything more or less right, my english writing skills are pretty rusty.
  • edited September 2012
I don't get it, why would we start another new story? It's kinda pointless if you ask me. There's a reason Rick and Carl is still alive right now in the comics. Or that X main character from Y series is still alive after Z seasons and still has the focus on them.

You don't really have to change main characters to change the story of the game.

Well since I have heard that Season 2 will use the Season 1 save file then it looks like we will see people from Season 1 survive. And as others have said if we have a new lead character we are going to have to connect with someone else which will be stupid because we already have connected with a lead character and we will have to go through everything again so why not carry Lee's story on.

It would be smart to have Lee survive and say bring in a strong Female character who can become Lee's right hand woman in deciding things because as much as I like him I do not see Kenny surviving.

I am a guy and in a zombie apocalypse all I would do is scream and fall down.

I don't care what gender the protagonist is as long as the character and story are compelling.

As long as shes got big boobs and will spend most of the game nude i got no problems with it.

Female protagonist, yes. Marketably female, NO.

Here is a description of April:

She is described as having dishwater blond hair, wearing jeans, and a loose-fitting cable-knit sweater which is severely stained. She is also described as having her mother's temper and single-mindedness.

I described her bravery and audacity as similar in style to Laura Croft not her body type. I don't think April looks like Laura Croft but is still likeable otherwise.:)

I'd love a female protagonist. I don't really know about having another kid with the main character though (like Carl and Clementine).
  • edited September 2012
Eh, I just feel like Lee's story should end with season 1. Let them do what they want with the ending without having to make sure Lee and/or Clementine are alive for season 2.
  • edited September 2012
Sure lady me up, women have a harder time in a zompox with all the naughty men and all so it would be interesting to see how a female protaganist deals with the situation first hand as in Lee's story it's all about his (a male) view point and actions.

I was wondering why you'd have a "spoilers" sticker on ur post, thought maybe you knew the inner-workings of Telltales creative process. Turns out what you wrote would be the biggest spoiler of all. In that it would totally spoil the entire game.

She sounds really great! I can see a lot of people going "oh had to be a blonde" though. But whatever, as long as she can put batteries in a radio and isn't a herpity derp, I think it could work :)

Exactly! So true! It'd be interesting to see because it might not be just the zombies she'd have to worry about!

Another question for people, at the beginning of season 2 would people like it to go back to the start of the ZA from her point of view? Or continue on from around the same time as Lee's story?

If the protagonist is as good as Lee, I dont care what gender it is.

I love Lee. Im suprised some people dont like him.

    Sure, I'd buy that.

Since some of you seem to loathe the idea of a brand new one, why not just make Clementine the lead for season 2? That way, people who played Season 1 get someone they are familiar with and like. (Unless you somehow don't like Clementine, but I doubt many think that)

If not, I'd still at least like for it to be a woman. (We got enough male leads in games as it is, but as long as they are likable, I can accept that)

Is this like a letter to Santa? Dear Santa, I want a female protagonist with a DD cup, but not too skanky, and she needs to kick zombie ass. Please.

If you read any other posts besides the OP you'd know the answer to your own question.

And I'm a girl so you really think I care how big her bust is?

As it was the original poster who posed the question, it was the original poster I was addressing with my flippant remark.

My point being that requesting anything is a pipe dream (i.e. like a letter to Santa). Telltale writers already know how the first season will end and how they want it to tie into season two.
