They've already done that to a fairly large extent. Larry, the most bigoted character in Season 1 also happened to be the biggest asshole ("You and what homo parade?"). And in Season 2, Walter and Matthew have nigh saintly personalities whereas everyone else (including Clem!) is shown to be at least somewhat of a jerk. But the bottom line stance that the game has towards people with any minority status is always "It's a goddamn zombie apocalypse. Who the fuck cares?" They don't need to include any specific minority characters to further drive home that point.
This is going in circles, you didn't address a single thing I just said. This is so pointless.
I'm not even saying these people are neces… moresarily insecure.. how the conversation got warped to that is beyond me. I was only talking about that in a particular sort of instance.
you compared them so you were implying that they were.
No, that doesn't make any sense at all. I was looking at it in the general sense of someone being harassed over physical characteristics. I never said they were the exact same things. That is a pointless argument, and obviously not one I was trying to make.
you don't get dude we don't want to feel like less of an minority. we want people to stop treating us like shit
Okay, I'll admit that was poor word choice on my part. I meant being treated like a minority in a negative sort of sense, I didn't mean it literally. I was talking about being treated poorly.
These arguments have branched further and further away from the original point that it isn't even recognizable. Maybe this is because I haven't been as clear as I should have been, as I have been busy clarifying things instead of discussing the whole purpose of the point itself. What I am saying is that video games should not have to be responsible for making sure every single little minority is prevalent in the story in order to appease minorities that are looking for representation (for whatever reason, be it self securance or otherwise). As long as these video games are not negatively impacting them, they are in no way shape or form obligated to do anything. If the video game wants its characters to be 100% white, then so be it. If the video game wants its characters to be 100% black, then so be it. If the video game wants its characters to be 100% purple then so be it. We should not care about these things.
you compared them so you were implying that they were. you don't get dude we don't want to feel like less of an minority. we want people to stop treating us like shit because of something they saw on T.V.
no we should care about these things because they are very important. you said black or purple so you seem like a colorblind racism kind of guy. here's a definition so you can better understand it.
means less blatant form of racism yet maybe even more powerful than racism in the past. since the civil rights acts of the 1960s people actually think racism is a thing of the past. some people actually think its all equal now that everyone has rights.
"The emerging school of sociologists also is responding to intellectuals such as Stephen and Abigail Thernstrom (America in Black and White: One Nation Indivisible, 1997), and Shelby Steele (A Dream Deferred, 1999), who assert that discrimination is old news. Consisting mostly, but not entirely, of conservatives, this group says the country needs to transcend race by acknowledging the progress made over the past several decades. Race-conscious policies, they argue, only stir up resentment among whites while also promoting a lack of ambition among people of color by holding them to a lower standard.
As support for their claims, they point to the genetic evidence provided by the Human Genome Project that race has no biological foundation as a way to categorize people. They also cite a 1998 statement by the American Anthropological Association that explains "race" as a classification system invented in the 18th century to justify status differences between European settlers and conquered and enslaved peoples, then expanded to support efforts such as the Nazi extermination of Jews.
In August 2002, the American Sociological Association took a stand against such attempts to abolish "race" as untrue and irrelevant. In a statement, the professional society urged social scientists not to ignore race classifications or stop using them as a research tool, even though they may be biological fiction. "Those who favor ignoring race as an explicit administrative matter, in the hope that it will cease to exist as a social concept, ignore the weight of a vast body of sociological research that shows that racial hierarchies are embedded in the routine practices of social groups and institutions," the society wrote."
this sums up basically what colorblind racism means "Most whites don't see white as a race. Like a fish in water, they don't think about whiteness because it's so beneficial to them."

"We all simply think it is silly to cater a game to people insecure about their race or sexuality."
you said that.
no we should care about these things because they are very important.
Care about them in the sense that video games have an obligation to ensure that all minorities are represented for the sake of fighting off social injustice? No. Seriously, that's all I'm talking about here.
Obviously social justice is an important topic by itself, but that is a different discussion.

You're entirely missing the point. I was simply talking about people mistreating other people over other physical traits. I wasn't saying the issues have the exact same implications, simply that they can cause people to feel terrible. This isn't complicated. Stop attaching ideas to my posts that I don't mean to say.
Please stop victimizing yourself.
I'm not victimizing myself at all (seriously, what is the point of that here?). I was making a point.
Have short people been hanged?
Have short people been killed?
Short people can't marry?
Short people can't go to school?
Please stop victimizing yourself. If you are going to kill yourself for being short wear some heels then.

You're out here telling us what to think, what game we should play. Get off your high horse. If you want a game that has your beliefs, go find one or make one yourself. The thing is. What 2-3 years into the apocalypse. People aren't going to be holding pre-ZA ideals, and I have no idea how it's going to writ… moreten into anything. I never said it was that simple. People struggle with things they don't want to think about or do all throughout life. Some people are more susceptible to homosexual thoughts, but that doesn't mean they were born that way. In terms of nature vs nurture, homosexuality falls under the nurture category.
Not all medical experts. Just the ones that are spotlighted the most in media, because it has become a trend to be more "progressive". There is so much pressure on society to force us all to believe that homosexuality is something you're born with, but that is just not the case. Many people who don't agree with this theory are less inclined to express their thoughts and opinions on this matter, because they are almost always called a homophobe, a bigot, a close minded asshole, and any other terrible insult one can think of. Frankly, I don't care what I'm called, or what people think of my thoughts.
It is the opinion of medical experts that sexual orientation can't be controlled.
Furthermore, if being gay is a choice, why the HELL wou… moreld people choose it?! People KILL themselves because they're gay. If it was as simple as 'Ok I'm going to make myself not attracted to men anymore' then that wouldn't happen.
Well, when a large amount of people whose profession it is to investigate what is and is not true about the world say that something is true… more, we generally hold that to be true. And the consensus among scientists is that people do not experience agency over their sexual orientation.
The possibility of environmental factors influencing the development of sexual identity does not make it any more "voluntary" than say, developing an allergy due to environmental factors. You might also consider that not even identical twins aren't 100% physiologically identical, due to the influence of epigenetics and such. Furthermore, if lack of gendered socialization is what causes and shapes sexual preferences, then it would still be very unlikely for identical twins to have difference sexual orientations if they are raised in the same household by the same parents.
And, no, you can't choose whether or not you are an alcoholic. You can choose to take ste… [view original content]
You understand that the absence of a "gay gene" also means that there is an absence of a "straight gene," right? In your statement claiming that we are "born heterosexual," you seem to be defining heterosexuality as being physiologically capable of reproducing with the opposite sex. This is not what sexual orientation means. Otherwise, most gay men would be considered heterosexual and some straight men who can't sexually reproduce would not be considered heterosexual..
Sexual orientation is about being psychologically willing to engage in sexual relations with a certain group. No one is born gay or straight because no one is born with any sort of sexual preference whatsoever. It's something that develops later in life but-- and this is crucial--in a way that is outside of the individual's control. I never "decided" to be straight and I'm sure you didn't either. Just as no black, asian, or latino person decided to be black, asian, or latino. This is the crux of the comparison.
Now, like you said, there are steps that a person can take to "combat" their homosexuality, but it has been quite definitely shown that such steps tend to be psychologically harmful and ineffective. And I think it's pretty easy to see why. The prospect of never allowing yourself to love someone romantically is a really, really hard thing for people to accept. And the fact that there are people out there who expect homosexuals to accept this or be ostracized and denigrated is discrimination.
Yeah but they're never good ;/ Not everyone is gonna know, it's like the excuse that a book has been around for hundreds of years so people say they aren't spoilers, but really it doesn't mean everyone will have read hundreds of years worth of books so they are tbh
heterosexuality is normal, there is no need for there to be a gene that causes it, nor is there a need to make up a gene to excuse heterosexuality. Contrary to popular belief, heterosexuality is the default, we are meant to be with the opposite sex. If we man and woman weren't made for one another, they wouldn't be able to procreate.
Otherwise, most gay men would be considered heterosexual and some straight men who can't sexually reproduce would not be considered heterosexual..
You're just nitpicking now.
Of course no one is born wanting to have sex, not until they hit puberty at least. A child wanting to have sex is just sick. Frankly, this particular argument is just silly. Little boys and girls develop crushes all the time, they have an understanding romantically, they develop sexually later. No I never decided, because you can't decide to be straight. You are born heterosexual, we are meant to grow older and then be with the opposite sex. You can only choose to be homosexual, it may not be a conscious decision, and was most likely influenced by how you were raised as a child, and the adults in your life, but it is still a choice none the less. Race and sexuality are not interchangeable, you cannot compare skin color to who you want to have sex with. I'm treading lightly, but that is one of the most ridiculous comparisons I have ever heard.
Just as people who are struggling with alcoholism, they fall off the band wagon from time to time. There have been plenty of successful cases where people have overcame homosexuality. Honestly, I see homosexuality as uncontrolled lust. I am not saying I hate gay people, but I by no means agree with their lifestyle. As I said previously, my main point was to that there is no "gay gene", and race is not the same as sexuality. I've made my point very clear.
You understand that the absence of a "gay gene" also means that there is an absence of a "straight gene," right?

We are strong, no one can tell us we're wrong
I get told repeatedly that I'm crazy. Crazy people are always being discriminated against.
That's a spoiler dude
i think a lot of people already know so..
I've made my point very clear.
lol, I love this song. I understand exactly what you mean.
