So, every time I start Game of Thrones on my PS3, all I get is black screen and nothing else. I've reset the file system a bunch of times to no avail. Is this an issue for anyone else and does anyone know how I'd be able to fix it? Maybe someone from Telltale Support could help me out....
Ah, apologies for my confusion. When you removed the local saves and started the game, are you able to play the game successfully, and does the game save properly at every checkpoint?
I can't copy the data to my usb drive. My usb drive is formatted correctly and showing up but I don't have the option to copy there, only to online storage. I think Telltale chose to not allow the data to be copied offline.
Mike I don't know because I haven't played the game on PS3 since, beyond checking if the local save being removed allowed it to start. I was still hoping I might be able to eventually restore my old saves once the issue was resolved. So, to answer your question I'd need to devote 6+ hours of my free time, with no compensation. That's asking a lot.
But I don't understand why I should have to. Doesn't Telltale have debuggers? Are they trying to replicate the issue? I don't mean to sound curt but it's been almost two months since the issue became known, and they're been no information given to users at all. Please update us on what Telltale has done/is doing to resolve this.

Hey, I would also say I have experienced the same type of problem. My region is North America. When I launched the game it stayed as a black screen. I tried this various times and repeatedly came across the problem. I ended up deleting all the game data, (the ep1 demo, the small data to unlock ep1, ep2 and ep3 dlc, ). I did, however, keep my save data with all my choices. I re-downloaded the ep1 demo through transaction history as well as the small data to unlock the whole episode. After this I was successfully able to launch the game and continued to download the latest update. After this I went and downloaded the dlc through the game since I purchased the season pass. I am now currently able to launch the game without any problems occurring, and I retain my save data and choices. I hope this helps in some way.

We are still currently looking into the cause of the issue, and hope to have more information soon. I recommend trying the steps that @FlareBattle stated below, and see if you are then able to start the game, and keep your save files in tact.

I do not know. I hope that Telltale will give us an update to fix the problem. All I know is that the latest update in combination with episode 3 save date is causing the black screen. So if you want to play episode 3 you cannot have the latest update. I am very curious what will happen with the next episode. Only time will tell
By going to the game in the XMB menu (the one you click if you want to play) and press triangle instead of X. Here you can click to delete the game data. The save data is listed somewhere else. As long as you did not delete your save data, you can just continue your game after deleting the game data if you installed the game again (without updating). No PS+ subscription is needed.
2 Questions:

I tried to start the game this morning in order to download episode 4, but when I click on the game icon, it just goes to a black screen and won't do anything! I have to turn off the PS3 on the console. I've tried several times, and the same thing happens every time. This has never happened before.
Same. I downloaded the latest patch from the dashboard and that didn't help. Tried other games to see if it was my console, console is fine. I'm remembering when TWD episode 2 first launched on ps3.
I am having this issue as well. I don't understand why I should have to go through all this deleting and redownloading etc. That's really too much to ask. Please fix this problem!

Truth be told the latest update caused the problem to reoccur for me as well; I'm gonna try and do the re-downloading I did earlier and hope for the best. It is tedious though, and I'd rather not have the problem be there.

I just downloaded EP4 but the game won't launch anymore. The only thing that happen is a black screen. I've looked up in the other discussions but it seems to only cover the PC problems. What is wrong with the PS3 version?
Telltale. I tolerated having to delete my save data because I know things go wrong and no one cares about the previous-generation consoles, I get it. The same error happening again is inexcuseable. Do your QA and QC departments get the luxury of saying "good enough, let the customer deal with the fallout"? Word of mouth, travels fast you have a lot of angry customers on here. What do you intend to do besides offer tips about deleting data every episode? Defraging and restoring doesnt work. We shouldn't need to pay for psn plus to make your game work. I guess we can wait until the last episode, but you're dealing with game of thrones fans. They're usually impatient bing-watchers. Realize that soon; and please theorize a fix downstream on your end. Unless you want more internet tough guys like me trashing you on your own forum. Good luck.
Ps. my PlayStation is a first-gen. With Ethernet and 23 of 93 GB with system software 4.70. What other technical information can I provide that'll help you all help me? Because none of the episode 3 tips besides deleting helped. I'm mad but hopeful you'll do something late instead of never.

I'm also having this black screen problem...super frustrating!!! However, it didn't appear for me until after updating for Episode 4. I was able to complete Episode 3 and my sister was able to get halfway through as well. Tonight, I updated for Episode 4 and all I get is a black screen, it won't even take me to the main menu! I paid for the season pass and now I can't even access the game at all...overall, this product has been pretty buggy, but I've overlooked it, this takes the lemon cake though. I'm lucky to have been able to complete Episode Three, but I find it shocking that this issue has been going on for more than a month with no solution.

I also am encountering the black screen after purchase of episode 4, Sons of Winter. I installed it, it ran an update for the game 1.05, and now it is permanently stuck at a frozen black screen. REALLY disappointed!! What is going on?? I did a total uninstall except for save data, reinstalled... And it happened again. Unable to play the game. Is a patch going to be delivered, perhaps 1.05 should be rolled back or something. Help!!!

I caved and tried the delete/uninstall of all game data. Then I reinstalled it all and didn't accept the update or log-in to my psn. It worked. I played all the way through the forth episode which was awesome although very glitchy during battle/action sequences. The trouble came afterward. When I went to go look at my choices it only allowed me to see the choices for the first 3 episodes. Does that mean my choices for the 4th episode we're not saved? Should I try updating from this point? Any suggestions would be appreciated

I am sorry Mike, but installing the latest update is what is causing the black screen. You should recommend people to delete the game (not t… morehe safe files) --> Install latest version from PSN --> Do not update the game (i.e. do not connect to the internet) --> Play. The game will ask to update or to connect with the internet several times, but by declining repeatedly, you can play. This worked for me (and others) who had the black screen problem.
Deleted/uninstalled game data again. Reinstalled and went back in, not selecting the upload and not signing in to psn. Now my save data for all four episodes are there. So two things I've learned:
Do not download the update. This seems to be what's causing the black screen. It will keep asking you to install it but just cancel every time.
If there are any problems at all with this game, go delete all game data and then reinstall. Hopefully this works for other people.

Yeah I'm playing on PS3 (Europe) and haven't even been able to install Episode 4 yet.
Even so when I try to start GoT because i was planning on replaying Episode 3 and change some choices and update my brain on the story it seems that i am unable to do so because i also meet this black screen and a frozen Playstation when im trying to start the game.
What makes me a lot more irritated than having to wait is that Telltale NEVER bothers to give us players any updates on what's going on.
I live in the Netherlands/ EU. Yes I am able to succesfully save. I played multiple playthroughs (with friends) and I was even able to see the choices and percentages at the end of the game (which was unexpected because I cannot connect to the internet without updating). I do not know if the choices carry on to the next episode, because the fourth episode will be released at the end of the week in the EU PSN store.

I just started up GOT to see if I could download the new episode as I ented the game it downloaded a fil of 81 megabite after it downloaded it and tried to enter the game I just got a black screen and nothing happened.
I then tried to reboot my Playstation and start the game up but got a black screen again.
I then tried to check for updates and it said the game was updated and I tried to start it again and I got the black screen again.
Tried to open the game from a new account and it worked fine but the problem is my save games and season pass are not on the new account so that don’t really help.
Then tried to open the game from my main account but it stayed on the black screen.
