Respect is a two-way street.
If you want it, you have to give it.
If homosexuals want respect, they have to be willing to show it.
Besides, if homosexuals tear us down, if we don't agree with them, what is there to respect?
Even if we politely disagree with them about their lifestyle, and then they start reverting to name calling and hate speech; which in itself is bigotry, how is that respectable?
If they claim to be open and accepting, and yet resort to that behavior over a respectful disagreement, then how are they any different than the so-called "close-minded" people they claim to be against?
Because humans were meant to be heterosexual, a man's body was made to procreate with a woman's body. That's just the way it is. The absence… more of a gene or any genetic deformity/abnormality that causes homosexuality/determines your sexual orientation means that it is not something you're born with. If you aren't born with it, then you choose to do it. Homosexuality develops due to environmental factors, and then one chooses to act on those thoughts.
I have no obligation to accept the lifestyle, and I'm not judging anyone for being gay. I am expressing my views on the matter, which I have every right to do.
Again, a person chooses not to control their sexual desires, and a person chooses to act on their thoughts. You can't compare sexual orientation with a political stance and expect that to validate your claim. Two very different things that aren't even remotely in the same category.

I have to agree with the majority here. As a gay man I feel that if they added a gay character or couple it would probably turn into an exaggerated stereotype. I don't really see any plots of this game having the focus on a straight relationship and I think adding an lgbt couple would do it solely for the purpose of screaming their support. I wouldn't mind a questionable character. But I know that I am much more than being homosexual. Yes I'm gay but it doesn't define me and anywhere that there is a lgbt character runs the risk of that being their only characteristic. Pete or nick may have been gay. I don't think they were but it's just never mentioned. I don't care. Their characters weren't defined by sexuality and I don't want to see it happen
Perhaps will actually get to play as a character with missing limb.
Like Lee was if you chose to amputate his arm.
Or perhaps one who is partially blind, like Kenny was after his beating from Carver.
Being a hard-of-hearing individual myself, I was wondering how a deaf character would be portrayed in the Walking Dead universe myself.
B… moreut I'll be shaking my head if the character ends up killed off because of their disability, being seen as a liability because of their disability, or if they were identified as the 'deaf guy/girl' and nothing else.
And as for deaf/hearing-impaired VA, the actress who appeared in CSI and Heroes (Deanne Bray) would be a good candidate.
I'm hard of hearing, and I speak perfectly normal and do no sign. No dialogue tree issue there, unless we're talking about someone who has a severe case of hearing loss.
Labels like "homophobe" don't even have impact anymore tbh. With the way people tend to carelessly throw them about, as though they win the discussion the minute they label you as such. Their expectation being to make you out to look like the bad guy, and them like the good guy. In reality they are hurting their cause by abusing these insult/labels on anyone and everyone who opposes/disagrees with them, because the tactic becomes ineffective the more it is overused. It's like when you say a word over and over again, it begins to lose it's meaning and doesn't even sound like a word after a while.:/
It's not about LGBT characters being "shoved down players throats", it's about representation. Yes, in the apocalypse the probability of there being a LGBT character is slim, but having one would honestly be no issue. If there is a character that exists only to shove their sexuality/gender identity down the players throat, it would then be a problem. In all honestly it is no different than straight characters - you know they are straight, they don't explicitly say it multiple times throughout the game, so I don't understand why it is a big deal for a character to be LGBT. And as part of the LGBT community myself, it would be nice to see at least some representation without it being for comic relief or just to prove a point that the developers are not homophobic.
I hear you loud and clear. Words cannot express how tired I am of being called an evil homophobic bigot for supporting traditional marriage.… more It certainly doesn't help that the majority of my peers are extremely progressive/liberal on the matter.
Even though I don't agree with their lifestyle, I'm all for tolerating it, because I have no say in how they choose to live their lives. The thing with toleration though, is it is a two way street. If I'm going to tolerate their lifestyle, they must also tolerate my right to disagree with their lifestyle. It's such a simple thing, but so many people don't understand this, don't want to understand this, or are completely misinterpreting what toleration means, for toleration is not synonymous with acceptance. The radicals of LGBT are convinced that anyone who disagrees with their lifestyle is a homophobe, or is somehow oppressing them by not being an "ally", and celebrating their alternative lifestyl… [view original content]
It's threads like these that remind me how much I look forward to the day when humans have evolved beyond the need for reproductive organs, and we exist as a gender-neutral blob of biomass. Subject to no discrimination, unequal representation, or bigotry, because...we're blobs.
...I'm not sure where I was going with this, now that I look at it.
Just dropping by to say that I like that gif immensely.
And, yeah, I don't have anything worthwhile to add to this post 3 weeks after it was posted. I'm pretty much agree with your statement.

I like the gif mostly due to it being from a movie I like a lot.
Don't mention it. Also, your posts seem to be not so politically correct.... keep it up. With people so often trying to be PC on the Internet, it's like a breath of fresh air to me.
I thought that gif fit the mood I was trying to put across in my post fairly well haha.
Thank you, it is nice to hear that people on here agree with me.:)
What movie is it from? I have the gif saved now because I like it so much, I bet I'd like the movie it was from too.
Well, I'm glad to hear that's how I'm coming across! I strive to be as uncensored, and honest in my opinions as possible without being unnecessarily rude, so thank you for the compliment, I really appreciate it. I see the distinct absence of PC language in your posts as well, so props to you for not giving in to the current trend of politically correctness.

Well, you might have liked it. It is an old Soviet comedy movie, called (direct translation) "Ivan Vasilievich changes his occupation". I hear it was broadcasted in the US, too, but under a different title. Was, and still is, a pretty popular movie around the Soviet Union and in various post-Soviet countries after the ol' USSR got dissolved.
Well, that's good. We need more people like that, who aren't afraid to be honest and straightforward. PC may be good as a concept, but, IMO, it's way worse in practice.
Why, thank you. I dislike PC and some terms it enforces make me wanna vom- sorry, engage in an involuntary personal protein spill! Also, living in a post-Soviet country kind of helped, too, since the PC is a trend largely in western countries. Can't say it's totally absent, but it surely doesn't have this big of a spread.

Also, I won't listen to this as it means a hell of a lot to me, not in the least because the couple in the video mirrors us nearly exactly i… moren terms of their lives and the way they helped each other, and I will cry which is not good when trying to meet deadlines.
But please give this a watch.

I'll have to check it out, I remember hearing a friend talk about this movie actually.
Exactly, conceptually it seems like it would do a lot of good, but in reality all it does is police people's thoughts and opinions, which I honestly believe is a violation of our 1st Amendment. I worry about where this country is going, when there are people being arrested for hurting someone''s feelings and/or having an unpopular opinion.
lol, I have similar reactions to PC, I hope people soon come to their senses that all we're doing is politically correcting this country into the ground.:/

I don't know, making Deryll gay wouldn't be so bad, considering he's not the generic gay stereotype, He's still Deryll and he can still be awesome, he's just gay, we need less gay stereotypes in popular media.
I would support it, but I wouldn't just want a homosexual character for the sake of a homosexual character. Just like giving a minority a job regardless of their work ethics. Reverse racism, reverse sexism, no difference.
Now that I realize it, too long of an answer. I'd support it!
Staticsally speaking, with gays only making up about 1% of the population, about 90% of the populace dead, the chances of finding a gay person are extremely slim, and lesbians would be even smaller.
Also, if in our first interaction with someone if we find out they are homosexual, they will be forever labelled as a homosexual, and they will never get a new impression. Nate, shall forever be labelled as a psycho, no matter his other traits because of how we interacted with him in that car.
I'm not saying that I don't want homosexuals, but I think we need to have our other characters improved. We need better writing for characters like Sarah and Nick.

Yeah I think it'll be cool if we have a LGBT character. I don't get all these people going "omg dont base people on their orientations etc etc" because it's nice when minorities are represented and I don't think we need to have a big kerfuffle about it no matter what side of the argument you are on. As long as they're well-written characters and not stereotypical but I know Telltale doesn't roll that way, they've already included some LGBT characters anyways in their other games (Athena and Janey, Matthew and Walter, that random gay bad guy in GoT lol etc) so I know they'll do it well. Does it matter? Well of course it doesn't matter; but it's still nice.
I mean, probably not. Most likely some people who work at Telltale are LGBT. Pretty assumptive that you're saying that all telltale staff are straight, they probably just want to add diversity to the characters to keep things interesting.
I really don't understand why Telltale would suddenly not support minorities or diversity. Lee is urban for goodness sakes! Telltale aren't a bunch of Kennys!

I really don't see this 'shoving down throat' mentality. These straight people are just getting a taste of what gay people have to deal with their whole lives; getting someone else's sexuality shoved in their faces. We see romance movies with girls and guys, the media always about hetero couples and when straight people get exposed to a itsy bitsy tiny bit of gay they have a bloody tantrum.

Lost all respect for Mackletrash just then.
Dishes Christianity, praises homosexuality. Nice.

As far as I'm concerned, there are to many indications he's straight.
Particularly in his dealings with Carol and Beth.
Bisexual maybe?
(shrugs)
I'm just saying , it wouldn't be so bad if he liked guys, but wasn't the typical gay stereotype.
Maybe if you got to know the character before s/he's revealed as a gay/lesbian. I just don't know why they'd be labeled as the homosexual.
Great. Obviously telltale saw this thread
I doubt it
'They put in gay characters, this MUST be because of fan pressure!'
Just like they made Luke and Kenny straight because of fan pressure obviously?
Why was this thread revived?
It just seemed forced. Like. .. "the only thing you do is fuck Jonas"
Ttg is just screaming "hey we're not homophobic. We have the gays!"
