The problem with the season are the lack of Character development and the lack of hubs, and the appeal to the new fans. Telltale needs to stick to the People who got them here There are so many things missing from the Last two seasons. I was listening to the Ost from TWD S2 EP5 "Happy Birthday" and it felt so powerful, all I could think about was Luke, Clem, Kenny, Bonnie, Mike, Jane and Hell even Arvo. I felt so sad because I cared for them (except for Arvo) but the point is I cared for them, say what will about S2 but one thing it go right was making you care for the characters. I cared for the cabin crew by Ep2, I wanted to see them survive. One thing The Walking Dead a new frontier did good is making me appreciate S2 more. The soundtrack in A New frontier is bad. I could careless about the new cast except for Javi. When Marianna died, I didn't get sad .In fact I didn't feel anything. I was just like "Oh well". Gabe is an annoying little shit, Kate l don't even fucking know. Then the lack of Clementine playable moments. Jesus fucking Christ Telltale, don't you realize people actually enjoy playing as Clementine as well? I know I did! It just doesn't feel like a continuation, it just feels like a reboot. I feel like in this "season" that S1 and S2 never happened. Then the fact they cut out so many content from this game. There was suppose to be a flashback of Sandra becoming a walker prior to Lee meeting Clementine, WHY THE ACTUALLY FUCK WAS THAT CUT OUT? I honestly don't feel like this game has been worked on for two years. But the one thing that really pissed me off was the fate of Kenny/Jane. Do you know why we made the choice to save Kenny or Jane in the end of EP5 S2 Telltale? Because we wanted to be with those characters and LIVE. Wellington was just fucking dumb too. If you were just going to kill them off like nothing, then why the HELL did you even give us the choice? The character transitions is bad as well. Everybody from S1 DEAD or Unknown (Except for Clem) Everybody from S2 DEAD OR UNKNOWN. Like what the hell? I know in an Zombie apocalypse nobody is safe, but not everybody dies this quick. I said a bunch of times before and I'll say it here, as a person who loves the games more then the Tv series, we still have Characters from S1 who are still alive in S7 in the Tv series. They nailed it. FIX THIS SHIT TELLTALE. Because a lot of people are tired of your lies.
"S3 will be larger"

That gif doesn't mean I think telltale will kill Clementine. I strongly think they won't kill her, I just saw the opportunity to make a funny gif so I took it.
Gabe whines and complains about trivial matters despite growing up in the apocalypse during the last 4 years. Realistically and in accordance with the rest of the series, he should be much more hardened already and not still mourning his father.
Mariana was somewhat promising but still not an accurate reflection of the conditions she had been existing in. She was also given a cheap death just for shocks and plot motivation. Complete waste. Telltale got me once with Carley, they managed to get me somehow with John Fairbanks, but with Mariana I just said "wow really?". Sloppy writing.
Kate and Javier have a "will they won't they" relationship despite being, once again, 4 years into the apocalypse together.
The whole situation is something from a zombie sitcom and they don't accurately reflect the stresses and changes that the zombie apocalypse brings, which is a consistent theme in the series so far.
You nailed my feelings when saying "Javier and his insignificant family", I dont really care about them, the game has not given me any reaso… moren to care except "Theyre family", most people care about Clem and her story, and Telltale doesnt seem to understand that, what I really wanted was to learn more about AJ, and have the story focused around Clem and AJ, but instead we get this Brother vs Brother plot, which I really dont care about, and Clems story is basically put away for that, the most interesting character except Clem in A New Frontier for me is David, (or Badger, but I dont read the comics, but from what I have seen I really like him, also he is voiced by Garrus Vakarian's VA)
Depending on what they do with a potential 4th season is probably gonna be the deciding factor as to whether most of the fanbase leaves or stays I would think
I sure hope you don't have ambitions to be a writer if you think killing off the main focus of the story so far to protect someone under her… more care is making progress rather than rehashing past events. It's poetic dribble when we've had time to form a relationship with one person we cared and died for, then watch a supporting character so the same for someone we've seen a few times and is barely a character.
Plenty know they have been. One of the major complaints have been about their insistence to repeat the lone survivor thing twice in a row if you went with the alone ending. Not in a row if you didn't, they waited until the first episode of the third game to do this.
They could, should, and I'm really hoping they can move past repeating cycles and expand a bit.
I am a writer; albeit not a professional one.
I wouldn't personally rehash old events, but Telltale have done that repeatedly. If you haven't noticed that, then you're practically refusing to.
Of course it doesn't, but it should be a priority not to needlessly alienate the consumer. I'm sure there's people that like her that would stay, but there's a deal that also stay solely for her.
Just listen to the interview and read the responses around here, for one.
Meli basically revealed that Telltale barely had enough money for the premiere, that a lot of the writing for the season is unclear and being changed constantly, that she recorded a ton more material for the flashbacks but they were cut, and amongst other issues just sounded really unenthusiastic in general.
The VA for the main character in the series and in Telltale in general pretty much confirmed and validated all of the fan frustration and concerns.
Well the voice actor of Kenny wasn't happy as he tweeted later about how he was not pleased with TT at all. I don't know about Jane, but I'd imagine she'd be upset too. "So we are going to write that Jane will hang herself after finding out that she's pregnant. It'll be......edgy."
Trying to get new fans is fine, but the way they do it is just mindboggling, since they did a 2 year timeskip anyways, they could have just had the story focus on Clem and AJ, and not have it be a problem, considering that noone from season 2 is around anyways, people wouldnt need to know much from previous games, it was like this in season 2 as well, Omid and Christa were gone almost immediately, and from there it was all new characters, except for Kenny of course, but you could argue that he shouldnt have even been in the game, although I did like him being in the game, it was a bit of a copout, considering his dramatic offscreen exit in season 1.
Its also just the fact that, whats the point of calling it season 3, or even The Walking Dead, when it doesnt have much to do with the previous titles, ok, it can get away with being called the walking dead, but advertising it as season 3 is just complete bullshit, many if not most people came here to continue Clems story, but instead we get Javier and his family, who I dont really care for at all.
I really hope they make season 4, and right the wrongs of this game, its not like its a bad game, I just dont like it, because it feels like a big fuck you to the people who has followed this series for so long to just reboot it and say to the loyal fans "Hey we want new fans, you have been replaced", if they make Season 4, I imagine it will make or break the series for alot of people, depending on whether or not Clem is in, and whether or not she is the playable character, I know all I wanted was a game about AJ and Clem

It's probably Gavin's most iconic character he's done for Telltale, so yeah, he'd probably be more than a little miffed. I've only ever seen one interview Christine had for this game (I think it was an IGN one if I'm remembering right), but she seemed as though she was really passionate about the character.
Pretty sad in both cases.
EDIT: Found the interview, for anyone who wants to take a look.

I agree. When Kenny returned in season 2 I remember thinking to myself, it feels like home. Melissa, Gavin, and Dave Fennoy mean a lot to me. They've brought powerful performances that impacted me for many years. Now there's only one left..:(
What are you talking about?
This forum is nothing but complaints. She obviously has some power over this forum if you haven't read the many complaints surrounding her interview.
Aww that's a shame. I really wish they didn't do the determinant at the end of season 2 now. I wish it was just Clementine, Kenny, Jane, and AJ going somewhere and the climax was Mike, Arvo, and determinantly Bonnie.

I don't know why TT is catering to new fans. This isn't a Call of Duty or Battlefield or sports game that you can jump into at any time. It's a STORY GAME. Imagine if the show was at Season 3 and they killed off Rick and Daryl just so that the new fans wouldn't be lost.
Here's a great idea. Newcomers should start with Season 1 like everyone else had to and then start Season 3. Did I start with Mass Effect 3 to get into the series ? No. Did I start with season 3 of Breaking Bad ? No.
Remember when we waited 119 days for an episode? And then it came out great? And remember when we waited 2 weeks for an episode, and it turned out terrible? Wonder if that's somehow related...
Aww that's a shame. I really wish they didn't do the determinant at the end of season 2 now. I wish it was just Clementine, Kenny, Jane, and AJ going somewhere and the climax was Mike, Arvo, and determinantly Bonnie.
Yeah that's why I kind of meant Mike, Arvo, and Bonnie being the climax instead of Kenny and Jane fighting lol. I thought their rivalry was kind of contrived in episode 5.
Oh man, that would've been awesome! Can you imagine the banter, though? xD
J: You tried to kill me!
K: You made us think AJ was dead!
C: Shaddup, both of you!
AJ: Waaahhh!!
I dont really want to think of it this way, since it kind of ruins the tension, but unless Telltale is way more ignorant than they have shown so far, they wont kill Clem, there is a huge demand for a game with Clem as the main character, and alot of people play these games for Clem, and their efforts with A New Frontier have obviously not brought in all those new fans they thought it would, so unless they do well with season 4, I can see alot of the fanbase just moving on
I doubt it too, honestly.
I also came up with the idea of Clementine dying to save AJ (which would mirror Lee's actions at the end of Sea… moreson 1) making her death mean something. It's not hard to see happening when you start to consider it.
Since I like Clementine a lot, I don't really want to think about these scenarios, but I don't want to hide from them either.
completely agree.
though, it's funny you mention mass effect since they did a similar thing that TT is doing with how "the third installment is a great place to start!" i don't think i'll ever understand that kind of marketing.

Wow...what specifically cost them a 'pretty penny'? Sorry to bother you just cant find it in the typed up interview
I mean even if she said that it might technically be in violation of her contract..though she has the upepr hand as if telltale lost clementine they'd lost a lot of people especially at the moment
It didn't bother me that they had to die. It was obvious when Clem was announced as returning for Season 3. I imagined though that both characters would have further development before they were killed off at the end of episode 1 fighting walkers, killing tons of them to allow Clem and AJ to escape, Kenny or Jane giving dialogue of Lee, Sarita, Duck, Khatja or Jaime as they are bit on the shoulder, leg and hand, before being tackled to the ground finally.

It's gonna matter when their money starts slipping through their fingers. As far as I know it already is according to the amount of sales they... don't have.
They want money, and they're probably losing old fans as the episodes are becoming shorter and shorter for the same price. They need people who will splash out without knowing the way they actually use their money, and then it's too late.

Oh, no, no, I wasn't making a response to put you down or anything like that. Don't worry.
It's a funny gif, and it'd be even funnier (or perhaps outrageous) if Darth Telltale does take this stance in the future.
They suck and they're completely unrealistic.
The whole situation is something from a zombie sitcom and they don't accurately reflect the stresses and changes that the zombie apocalypse brings, which is a consistent theme in the series so far.

Bandwagon fallacy.
I get it, everybody likes Clementine. That does not substantiate immunity - it shouldn't do.

She didn't say that verbatim but she said "it cost them a pretty penny" in a tone that implies that it was a very hefty financial expense for Telltale
I agree. When Kenny returned in season 2 I remember thinking to myself, it feels like home. Melissa, Gavin, and Dave Fennoy mean a lot to me. They've brought powerful performances that impacted me for many years. Now there's only one left..:(
I prefer it that way as well.
The complaints have been here for weeks.

Thanks, Lexi Porter...

Haha wow, I completely forgot about that!
We can agree on that, at least.
She didn't specify but I would assume it would be the high caliber Voice actors like David and Jesus's, as well as engine upgrades
Mel definitely has the upper hand seeing as Clementine is pretty much the mascot of Telltale
Lol. You wish.

Lol. Entitled fans always think they're the majority.
It's illegal to spend a lot of money for a game? How?
Well they do star in other games, Dave has been in quite a few, TFTB, MCSM, Batman, etc, and Gavin had even been in some games prior to TWD.
