Anyone feel like capturing and uploading video to explain what in the world is going on with iMUSE? Until I see video(or, you know, get around to playing the game ), I'll refer to Jake's appraisal of the situation. He has enough knowledge of the first two games to be trusted in such things.
I think the assessments in here are pretty accurate. It seems like SE has many (but not all) of the transition points, and some of them are a little more abrupt than they probably should be, but there is definitely a high amount of interactive music going on throughout the game.

Alright. To be honest, that is a LOT more than I was expecting out of this release, especially at a $10 price point and from this company in particular. Sounds slightly disappointing that they got so close but flubbed it a bit in places, keeping it from being *just perfect*, but I'm honestly shocked we got as much as we did.
Why people would want to play point and click adventures with a controller is beyond me. Direct control's the first thing I turned off when I fired up my PS3 version.

I used to feel exactly the same (seeming as I grew up playing classic mouse controlled adventure games). However, these days I prefer to lay back on my bed with controller in hand, as opposed to sitting upright at my PC. I hope that offers you a little insight into my way of thinking (i.e. laziness).
On the issue of direct control; again, I used to hate the concept but now I find it odd not being able to move the character with an analogue stick or cursor keys. I really believe it's a case of individual taste and/or nostalgia.

If you have a Mac keep your eyes open here. The Mac version of SMI:SE is available here and MI2:SE may also show up. I'm just guessing but it makes sense that eventually it'll show up.
Eventually. But it could be months if history is a guide. The company that owns GameAgent has ported many LucasArts games to Mac over the last 10 years, but not one of them came out at the same time as the PC version did. They would have already announced pre-orders if the game was coming out soon.

Try something like this. It really is a great media PC companion.
I care. I'd want the game for both, especially now that the voice track is available in classic mode as well.
Even if it is just a side item, classic mode is included for a reason. It's part of the package. You don't get a burger and fries, notice that the fires are just an uncooked potato, and think "Well, I just bought this meal for the burger anyway, the fries were just ancillary to the main point".
The fact that you can switch from one to the other at any point during gameplay is an important feature to some people, myself included. The ability to compare scenes directly against each other is pretty nifty, and honestly, yes, I would like one executable that contains both games. I'd like to play the original, because at the end of the day I prefer it because that was the game I grew up playing. The Special Edition, the shiny new thing with the voices and the art, that is a distraction, a new set of content within the original that gives me something to enjoy when I play through a classic again. In the long run, it is not going to replace the original, and having it there is an important part of the deal for me. I can't be the only person who feels this way.
Also, yes, I'd prefer to listen to commentary tracks with the original game up on-screen.
I would compare it more to there being a few ice cubes missing from your drink at your expensive steakhouse meal. It's not ideal but then again you are eating an entire delicious steak meal. To let the lack of ice cubes get you all upset and riled and give a game a C is being over the top - especially considering what you paid for it.
Yes, it sucks they did a bad job implementing classic. But it's a minor defect.
We also just feel entirely different about MI2 and what this special edition means to me. My literal first memory on a computer is of Guybrush's pants dropping to the floor. (Or Battle Chess. Meh. Still.) MI2 meant a lot to me. It's my favorite game ever.
But.
I've played MI2 a million times over the last 20 years. I've exhausted all the potential out of it now, it's old hat to me. I tried going back to it last year after the first SE - couldn't. It hasn't aged well - there's a reason the 10 or so people I showed MI2 couldn't hold interest in it. The SE (assuming not totally botched in new mode) is going to replace the old game for me. I have never gone back to normal MI1 and I don't intend to, other than to go "wow this looked so much worse."
It would be NICE to have one good executable. But it didn't happen. Complain about it sure, I agree you should - but to crap on the whole thing and give it a C is over the top.
Can anybody help me figure this out? It seems I can't change the resolution of the game. I installed and played it initially on a 1024x768 screen and it couldn't go higher than that. I quit the game and plugged in my TV instead and set my desktop resolution to 1280x720. Thsi works fine but in MI2:SE it still won't let me change the resolution to anything above 1024x768. Any ideas?
I've started playing the game, and I've just dealt with Largo. Imuse is working brilliantly on my version, so I don't see why everyone is throwing their arms up over it supposedly not being included. Its there. Only gripe I have is that there is no direct control option on PC.
Same here. I do not like Steam and the game is not available on Direct2Drive or - once again - Impulse.
If both MI remakes appeared on Impulse, I'd buy them immediately.
This Steam exclusivity is simply moronic.
Same here! I don't go down no streams, and in no scary tunnels for no one!
Hah! A little oddity. After you hire Cpt Dread and later come back to Scabb Island his ship is in two different places. It's not really a bug because they drew Dread's ship right onto the background near the peninsula and made it a sprite near Woodtick. Thought that was funny.
I know, it's always the same isn't it? We English get our hopes up, only to remember down the line that our team would be under pressure playing against a random bunch of drooling 2 year olds.
Well all well and finished now, just have to say, THANK YOU to Dom and Earl, those last scenes and the ending were brilliantly acted and you could tell they knew the characters very well! Also the Star Wars moment, now even more enhanced with voices!
Music was good, had no other serious glitches except the Bone Song one which was mentioned earlier, they got out of sync, but to be fair, I wasn't paying attention to what was being said, I was actually enjoying the song now with added Guitar riff!
Another mention goes to the voice actor for Rapp Scallion, he did a brilliant job and the music in that section worked great, again, thanks to the guitar backing the brooding sound.
Only UI problems I had was for locking Stan in the coffin, you have to be REALLY quick for that one, another one being where you have to give the napkin to LeChuck, again, you gotta be really fast, same with the Doll part, LeChuck is a lot less forgiving on time compared to Largo!
Apparently, you can't save/load your progress in the game if you're using Steam in offline mode? Well, you can, but all your savegames are lost once you restart your computer. I just don't get it, where ARE the savegames stored? I've tried disabling that Steam Cloud thing, but it still looks like it needs to be online if you don't want savegames to disappear.
Downloading the game now! I still got Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition for free and since I all ready owned the game, I sent it to a friend on Steam
I hit a nasty glitch I "died" in the tourter chamber after that the cursers gone! and nothing is clickble and items wont come up even in classic mode like its stuck on cutscene mode

Save games are stored in the PAK file along with all the other game data files.
I like the controls more in this special edition compared to the last one. The only thing I need the keyboard for is to show inventory, which means I can just sit back, relax, and take in the piratey atmosphere!
I rather like Wally's voice. One thing that occurs to me is that his voice becomes weaker when he loses his monocle, and as he starts sounding pitiful he also starts to sound a lot more like Wally from Curse. Seems like it could have been done intentionally, as that creates a sad little arc for the character (perhaps he was much more confident before Guybrush came and ruined everything for him) but I'm only through the first chapter of the game, and I won't be surprised if Wally's later appearance in this game totally contradicts what I just said
Is anyone else bummed out that they cut all the music out of the jungle screens of Dinky Island? I was really looking forward to the music there...and they just cut it out. Is it just a glitch? Now it feels more like the jungles of Monkey Island. I don't agree with that at all.
I just finished my second play through as a speed run & I'm rank 14 on the Xbox Live leaderboards.
Overall the game is brilliant! Huge improvement on the original SE.
Wally's voice does get better towards the end. Especially the scene where he's in the prison cell alone. I still feel Elaine's voice is off compared to her work in Curse. I feel the same about her in the original SE & Tales too.
The end of MI2:SE is excellent now with the voice overs. And I love that I can switch to classic & keep the voice work now. It stops me from feeling pressured to switch back to HD mode, thinking I might be missing something good.
Overall the characters are great, especially the majority of their art design. Hermes as Dread is brilliant & the background art is better than the original SE as well. It all feels so faithful.
Biggest complaint is the cursor speed for the Xbox. It's way too fast in both modes but it's really bad in classic mode. Also the music for Booty Island in the SE mode is awful. Both of these things really need patching.
As for the bone song, I don't think it's actually botched. I think it's intentional, because the text is actually out of sync slightly with the music in the original game.
Another common complaint has been the time you're given to do certain puzzles, such as nailing Stan in the coffin & the spitting contest. Personally, I did think it was very tight time wise, but not game breaking.
All in all, I'm very happy with it. It's added new life to a game that I'd just about stopped playing. It's added replayability to one of my favourite games once again. The music, new art & voice work is brilliant & hearing some of my friends laughing while playing MI2 for the first time ever is a joy in itself.

Yes, does anybody know why this is missing?
And i also feel incredibly guilty about what i have done to him.:(
Because it's easier to play with a mouse?
I was actually rather hoping to play with my USB XBox 360 (for PC) controller. Does anyone know if this will be possible (it was with SOMI: SE)?

You lose, good day sir!
Thanks, that actually looks ideal for my Jabba like existence
Pleeeeeeaaaaaseeeee?
I just noticed that Guybrush doesn't blush when changing into his costume like in classic mode (even though it did in one of the trailers).
I really thought Germany would have it in the bag, their last match was unreal.
it was against England though ¬¬

I actually thought the delay of voice was funny, making it that his parents were tone deaf and out of time added more to it, in my opinion.
Then Guybrush saying that they were good wouldn't make any sense.
