Um, there are far worse forms of DRM than Steam. Steam is actually very good, when you compare it with the sort of things EA and Activision do. I've never once had a problem buying or playing my games on Steam. Valve know what they're doing.
Hey, could anyone tell me, please, when this Star Wars joke was inserted? Kyle Katarn didn't exist until 1994. Is it purely SE stuff or something or what? (and yeah, if you turn on classic edition Guybrush says the same thing)
Has anyone else had this glitch at the torcher chamber part after Guybrush "dies" where you lose the ability to do anything in the game... Well I guess I have to go and do everything all over again.

same for me! that made it hard to enjoy it but once i got passed it i went back on track
Indeed, Steam is awful. I feel like I'm being treated like a criminal every time I use it. It might be worth buying it from there, then just getting a crack so it runs without Steam.
Forgive me for asking, but how does Steam treat you like a criminal? It asks for a login to an online system; that's not too far removed from what you have to at TTG. As with TTG's stuff, you can access it from any computer and after the first login, you can set Steam up so you just double-click an icon on your desktop and it will load the game up without any hassle or need to type logins.
And for some games, particularly those by Valve and Tripwire, they release huge free updates to the games that other companies such as Activision would charge megabucks for as DLC or expansions. Not to mention the free weekends, ridiculously low priced sales and every once in a while completely free full games (and I mean proper £40 games, such as Half-Life 2). If Steam treated people like criminals, accessibility and free stuff is the last thing they'd be dealing with.
Then there's the offline mode, which as I understand it erases your MI2:SE save games once you go back to online mode for some strange reason...but other than that I see no reason not to use Steam. You obviously have the internet if you're posting on the forums here. There's no reason not to use Steam other than your pride. Steam doesn't even take up that many system resources.
Personally, I think people who have a problem with Steam just have a problem with DLC in general. They want a physical boxed copy with a CD/DVD or nothing at all. I can understand that position, but Steam is just too good of a system not to use for me.
You obviously have the internet if you're posting on the forums here.
This is true of many people but it is also true that many others that they don't have access to the Internet at home (this is the case for me). I can only use the Internet at the Library etc., not via my gaming rig. Therefore, I am unable to play many games that require an Internet connection (regardless of the lack of multiplayer mode).
P.S. Before anyone asks, the reason for this is because I am unable to afford the Internet at home.
I think this remake is a lot better than the first one, but it still feels kinda clunky and unpolished.
Guybrush just moves so jarringly and choppy around the screen.
LeChucks limping animates way to fast, it just looks odd whenever he walks now.
And the verb and interface systems just feels unintuitive to me.
They should have just had a verb coin with all the verbs or something pop up like in Curse.
As much as I loved this game I ran into a major problem on the Steam version: I can't get past the skeleton puzzle in LeChuck's fortress. I know how to complete the puzzle but it's just not working for me. Anyone else have this problem?
Edit: Oh and I restarted the game btw, just to see if the puzzle works this time...
Edit 2: Nevermind...It turns out that I'm just an idiot when it comes to that puzzle.

what isn't working? are you going in the right panels but end up back to the beginning?
Well all well and finished now, just have to say, THANK YOU to Dom and Earl, those last scenes and the ending were brilliantly acted and you could tell they knew the characters very well! Also the Star Wars moment, now even more enhanced with voices!
The Star Wars moment was my absolute favorite. Dom's outcry was so damn soul chilling and pained I really was stunned for a moment. Just when you think his performance can't get any better he tops it! (I guess it was meant to be over the top in that scene which basically has a comical touch, yet it was so hilariously done!)

In the original, he says something like "Hey! Its Zonker Harris!" (the character from Doonesbury) but I'm guessing that one was updated for newer generations.
Well, finally got all of Steam's achievements. I beat the game twice in ten hours, and even beat it the second time in an hour and forty-one minutes to get the Speed Demon achievement. Everything I was originally mad about has grown on me; I have no complaints about the game.

I know what you mean. When he screamed i was like "whoa". I had the long neck reaction guy face
I still have the whole Dark Forces/Jedi Knight Collection. Gotta get it on Steam one of these days. Does anybody know if the Steam versions of the Jedi Knight games have Steam server multiplayer? Does multiplayer even work?

Wow, you just reminded me of playing Jedi Knight multiplayer on Microsoft's 'The Zone' back in the day, great memories. I don't know much about steam though I'm afraid

Be warned, according to LucasArts, they lost the source code for most of those games, and therefore have some issues with this collection:
- The CD audio tracks are missing! No way to include them as a download without altering the engine, unless you distribute the game as a CD image, which they certainly don't want to.
- Cutscenes are played in a small window only due to compatibility problems with recent Windows versions.
- Dark Forces is the DOS VGA version (DRM free) and comes pre-installed with DOSBox.
Modding works fine. Multiplayer, I didn't try, but considering the before-mentioned facts, it is probably identical to the original releases.
Yep, brings back that warm, fuzzy feeling of nostalgia (Dark Forces and Jedi Knight).
Jed Knight is a great game but the graphics really aged poorly. MOTS is one of my favorite Jedi Knight games, which has just slightly improved graphics if I remember right.

MotS had a fancy new lighting engine I believe and you're right, it was a superb game. Remember the jail level where you had to force pull some keys off a patrolling Gamarian (i.e. pigman) guard's belt in order to escape from your cell? Or the level where you had to disguise yourself in order to infiltrate Jabba's palace? Not to mention that appearance of the rancor monster *eek*
Man, I really need to dig that disc out. I hope it works with Vista!
Yeah, it's a real shame that the graphics have aged so much but it's still a surprisingly fun game to play once you get into it.

My favorite parts of the game! I think we hit a wave length.:p Got to love Jedi Knight's epic cut scenes. I always liked the characters and story in Jedi Knight. Though I was younger when I played it.

Those cutscenes certainly were awe-inspiring viewed through the eyes of a child but I watched some of them a couple of years ago and I've got to say I've seen less cheese from day-time soap operas
Hey so i bought this off of steam but when i finished downloading/installing the game, it had no icon. it has a short cut but it just looks like a blank pice of paper with the name underneath. does anyone have an icon they can post here for me to use?
Playing through again, STAN IS BRILLIANT! I know a lot of people hated that they got Pat back as Stan in Secret, and honestly, due to the speech system in Secret SE he did sound slow and off putting, but in this, he's brilliant again, his performance in Curse still tops it, but here he gives it a good run. And the odd thing is, in the original game, I felt sorry for Wally but not for Stan. Now, I don't feel sorry that much for Wally but I can really hear the panic and fear in Stan's voice the longer you leave him in the coffin! And just to think, he'll be stuck in there for the next three months!

It is a superdeluxe model, though, and he managed to print business cards while in there, so it can't have been that bad.

Meh. The music was just recycled Star Wars soundtrack themes anyway. Boooooring.

Can anyone answer this?
The closest we have is a "%of people with this achievement"

Yes, it is indeed available

kind of a poor substitute if you ask me...

I see. Many thanks for the information .
Hm, I'm fairly sure the PS3 has leaderboards. Personally I couldn't care less about it, but I could swear it's there on the main menu.
Could be I'm going nuts, though.
there is leaderboards ......must have put that in instead of the intro eh?
