That doesn't look like Kate... I hate being wrong :(

It looks like an older Wally with a stupid ponytail and a coat. Sort of a Guybrush wannabe. Heheh, and he's after Guybrush the same way Guybrush was after LeChuck when he was younger. So Guybrush is sort of the villain for Wally.

    Naah, that would never happen.

Good story idea, though. You could have Wally talk about all these adventures he's had in the last few years, and they'd be like watered down, milquetoastier versions of everything Guybrush has done.

Wow, about the Wally theory... Do you remember Bloodnose from CMI? The wickedest fiend ever to sail under the banner of King Death. The person who stuffed Davy Jones in his locker in school. The guy who drank milk from the carton.
Well, it was Wally and he was making it up.
Now we have Morgan LeFlay. The guy who kept trained scorpions in his beard. He was so hideous, people slit their own throwts when they saw him. He made suspenders out of pirate hooks taken from his foes. Yet Nipperkin claims those stories are probably fake.
    Soo, I smell Wally again.

Yeah, yeah, you could be onto something there! But if this turns out to be right, then that voice and the new image are very misleading.

I am all for bringing Wally back though, if only for another chance to steal from him, spit on him, and/or leave him tied up up to some hideous deathtrap. I love how MI2 tries to make you feel guilty for stealing his monocle. Standing around and listening to Wally whine is one of the funniest/saddest moments in the game for me. Sometimes I even give it back to him just to take it away as soon as he sets it back down! What can I say, Wally has a way of tugging at my heartstrings and making me want to torture him at the same time. :D

Wally was way shorter than Guybrush tho. If you look at their heights in the picture from deck to head, they're roughly similar heights, even though "Morgan" appears shorter because of the tilt of the deck.

I'd still like it to be Kate, but my money's on a brand new character now.

Totally agree with this. It would be satisfying for it to be Kate, but more and more I'm thinking it's not gonna happen.

I'm not sure how old Wally was in CMI. I always thought he's between 10 and 16, but there's no way to know for sure. Soo... maybe he finally hit puberty. I dunno. We'd just have to wait and see.

On the 20th, I hope the TTG staff post in this thread and point and laugh, and reveal how much this thead has amused them.

Hmm that's true... but when we first meet him in MI2, he's already working as a cartographer, and seems quite established and proficient at it... He still could have been a kid or a teenager, sure, but I'd always kinda assumed he was around Guybrush's age, just really small.

It could still be Kate without a captains hat.
Its NOT Wally. Just look at her skirt for pete's sake.

I even thought he was older than Guybrush, just also incredible naive. I suppose that's the thing about older games, the lack of voices and vagueness of the character's appearance left alot to the player's mind, which is probably why people always get upset when they're revealed to be in later games to not be how they perceive them. :D

I'm not totally against the idea of it being Carla (and I wouldn't be suprised) but it just didn't sound like her.

I know obviously they've got new voice actors in but all returning characters have at least sounded like the original cast.

But I guess they could be going for something new:)

Got to admit it, the artwork doesn't look too much like Kate:( I'm still hoping it is though.

    Are those pigtails?
  • edited August 2009
I'm thinking chapter two will start off with insult swordfighting, judging by that video. and seeing as carl was quite proficient at it in SMI, it could still be her.

Has anyone noticed that if you look at Guybrush's left eye on Telltales home page (Guybrush being held at sword point). There looks like there is a reflection (at the top part of his of eye) of a big hat. I'm thinking Kate.

I believe you're suffering from severe hallucinations.

I see it. It's very, very small however.
  • edited August 2009
Owww i was hoping to see Kate joining Guybrush`s crew, (after some puzzle diplomacy of course)

But now i think it might be the pirate hunter.
  • edited August 2009
Im thinking its kate in the pic and that big black rectangle on the floor is here big hat .....
Maybee she took it off to insult sword fight?

I say its Morgan LeFley, she is the Pirate hunter that the Frenchy hired. Some people assume that it is a guy named Morgan but it sounds too much like Morgan Le Fay from King Arthur. I bet the woman is her.

I tend to think so, too. And I'm starting to wonder if its a character that's had a serious makeover, because that silhouette just doesn't look familiar. It's possible that when Kate lost her hat she got a serious haircut, too? In fact, maybe she lost the hat because it wouldn't fit anymore after she cut down on some of that thick, thick hair? :D
  • edited August 2009
Couldn't Kate have changed her looks a little bit so she wouldn't be immediately recognizable on Phatt Island after posting her face on the wanted poster?

Come on people, it's obvious its Wally

Here is an idea: What if it was an evil demon that has been haunting guybrush for many years?

The demon has taken the forms of Carla, Kate, and Wally, and is now returning as a smorgsboard of them all!

    coool image

    Finally! Someone who agrees! :D

Judging by the pictures posted on Twitter by telltalegames (http://twitpic.com/d3r8j, http://twitpic.com/d3njp) I say it's a talking monkey - perhaps Jojo Jr. or (remember the female voice) his wife? :D
And before people start saying "but it didn't look like the one speaking was smaller than Guybrush" - look at the picture, the monkey is sitting on the railing! Everything fits perfectly.

Jojo Jr. also has a grudge on Guybrush for killing his father. (Though I don't remember if he forgave him in Escape..)

the monkey is sitting on the railing! Everything fits perfectly.
Quote impossible - as it was the same size and when it attacked Guybrush it was closer. The railing woudl have to move.

If you look close at the picture, behind the seagull you'll notice... a pirate hook. I hate to say it, but Wally had something like that in CMI...
Also: the attacker wears skirt or short coat...

LeChuck may have his humanity back, .

    Thats debatable

When was Guybrush atually nice to Wally? If you think about it, all that Guybrush did is ruin the little guy's life.
Last we've seen Wally he was tied up at one of the Dioramas in the end of CMI. Guybrush promises he'd save him, but that's never shown, he doesn't appear in the wedding scene before the credits and no one even mentioned him in EMI. Soo, if he's even alive, he might hold a grudge. Plus Guybrush pulled something like that to Meethook, Otis and Carla.

How I believe it is american elaine:

There was a dimensional split between COMI and EFMI. The world divided into two at one point, and guybrush was put on the mirror world. What was good was bad. What was bad was good. And elaine, being british, became american. Guybrush doesn't realize this. Immediately after EFMI he does though and he catapults back to the real world. Elaine wasn't far behind. That is how there are two elaines!

Don't look now but the thread created by GBTH seems to answer ALL this

He had a British accent for a start, so I hope it's not him back with an Elaine-style accent change...
