I thought it was Kate Capsize, too.
Whether or not Kate is Morgan LeFlay is another matter - I got the impression that Morgan would be a familiar character...but I was thinking more Largo or Wally, hm.

Having replayed the ending, yeah the voice is probably a female's, but it could be Wally's. It has a chipmunkish quality, that I associate with young cartoon males; Bart Simpson, Alvin + Chipmunks, both of which were voiced by women (at a time, anyway. Obviously Alvin and the Chipmunks have their voices altered.).

Wally crosses me as a young cartoonish male, although I know he must really be in his 20s, or something.

If you show the flyer to the voodoo lady, her reply seems to point to Morgan being female.. but could be someone from before in disguise too.

Morgan's only mentioned on a flier, and by the Pirates on Flotsam if you inquire about him/her. I think Morgan's definetly a woman, though.
    Namesake: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morgan_le_Fay

    Notice this very interesting detail:
"Morgan has at least two older sisters, Elaine and Morgause"

It also referenced Murray. "The skull was right!"

It's most probably Morgan, although I'd just love to see Captain Kate back in 3D.

I don't know why Wally should want to get his revenge on Guybrush though. After all, he was invited to Guybrush's wedding in the end of CMI afaik...

Great find up there, I'd never heard of Morgan Le Fay before!

Also, is 'Morgan Le' a little nod to (former) Telltale PR queen, Emily Morganti?
  • edited July 2009
When showing the Morgan flier to the voodoo lady she repeats lines that were previously said by Carla, I think...

"Guybrush Threepwood... There's no escape! The skull is right... You! Arrrgh!"

It sounds like Carla, anyway, especially the way she says "Guybrush Threepwood".
Did Carla ever agree with Murray? I haven't played EFMI in a long while.

Seems like Morgan is Carla, then. It's certainly not her voice at the end though. Must be Kate or Wally.

A little question: Where can I find this flier you're all talking about?
I only saw DeSinge looking at it, but that's it. :(

    my first thought... wally.
    i'm sticking with it.

^ This discussion is why I love Episodic games. We'd never have this opportunity if it was all released as one big game.

The flier is in the dock area. It's posted on a wooden stake.

I just noticed that electricity despells LeChuck's voodoo on the monkey. It has green eyes, until you zap it a few times, when it becomes normal. Foreshadowing?

I can't find it... Maybe it only is there in a certain situation.

Nice point I didn't spot this (the zap thing) although isn't it abit early to be showing the cure for the pox if it is a major plot point?

Also on the end voice my vote is on Kate Capsize.
As for the height issue she may still be sitting in the hold or crouching down or guybrush may be standing on something tall or it may just be a camera positioning thing. (I don't remember the scene too well so these could all be wrong) However he was only 18-21 (i forget) in MI2 whos to say he hasn't grown over the years.

I really agree with the Kate Capsize thoughts, she is the first and only character it could be in my mind. As for describing it so that newcomers can catch up, it wouldn't be hard at all. I can do it in one line from Kate, "Have you forgotten? You left me rotting in that jail cell back on Phatt Island!" Ok, two, but still.

I think it'd be great if they decided to make Kate into Morgan le Flay too. I gotta go back and hand the flier to the voodoo lady though, I was trying my best to not miss anything, but I guess showing that flier to people never crossed my mind.

Further, if I recall, Carla and Murray never talk together, then again, neither did Kate (as she didn't show up in Curse or Escape.) I just feel Kate is more likely, because as mentioned she's the only one who would want revenge on Guybrush and the dev team seems to recognize Curse and Monkey Island 2 as the two "biggest" for the fans, as seen in Guybrush's character design (coat and beard, but he looks tall and lanky, with facial features similar to Curse.) So bringing back a character from Monkey Island 2 would be great.

I definitely think it's Morgan, sicne she's the only one who has a reason to go after Guybrush at this point, haivng been hired by De Singe. Her being Carla or Kate would rely on precisely the kind of prior Monkey knowledge that doesn't seem to be important in this game.

I played MI1 in the last year, but don't even remember Kate from MI2 (it's been 20 years, probabaly, and I'm ooold).

Guess I'll be playing MI2 while I banish the wife and kids to the lounge to play Narwhal on the Wii in the coming weeks...

    ...

I couldn't even have conceived this scenario 5 weeks ago.

    So ******* good, yeah!?
  • edited July 2009
No one said that Morgan is out to get Guybrush. DeSirge will undoubtedly hire Morgan to capture Guybrush, and have him tried for all of his crimes over the Caribbean. But Morgan him/herself doesn't necessarily have anything against Guybrush.

The mystery person does have a grudge, which points to either Wally B. Feed or Kate Capsize.

    My thoughts are:
    1) Carla
    2) Carla
    3) Carla
    4) Kate
    5) Wally (with female voice?)
  • edited July 2009
I'm sorry but I can't imagine Wally with a grudge.
No matter how many times you stole his monocle in MI2 he would thank you for finding it for him. He cried like a baby in CMI not something a vengeful pirate does too often. I think the least likely thing he is going to do is pick up a sword and try to kill guybrish.
  • edited July 2009
I think it'd be an interesting progression for Wally. Guybrush left him for dead, twice. And last time we saw him he was TRYING to be a fearless pirate.

Speaking of old Monkey knowledge am I the only one thinking it's a bit silly Elaine seems to be falling for human LeChuck, considering her disliking Lechuck even back before he died is what triggered the whole Monkey Island 1 business in the first place?

We don't know she is falling for him. Might be a huge misunderstanding.

i.e. "Elaine here is that flower that fell out of your hair"

    "Oh thanks"

More tidbits from the game! I went back to show the flier to the Voodoo Lady and then decided to restart the game and show it to a few other people. One in particular that seemed interesting: showing it to Nipperkin.

He says the stories never "jived" one pirate would say he was "a red bearded giant" and another would say "a peg legged midget". I'm beginning to wonder if Morgan le Flay is actually -everyone- that Guybrush has ever pissed off. The peg legged midget could be Wally, but I don't remember a red bearded giant anywhere in the series, maybe I'll have to play Escape again.

When you show it to the Voodoo Lady, though, and she goes into the trance, her voice clearly changes to the same voice you hear at the end of the game. Not to sound racist or anything but it just doesn't sound like a "black" voice to me, so I'm still going with Kate as being the one that's holding Guybrush up at the end.

    Looks can be deceiving.

    Holy crap! Haggis McMutton!?

I think you're ON to something!!

All the rumors of Morgan are just tall tales, except for what the Voodoo lady says. I swear she's quoting Carla, I don't really know, though.

Cutthroat Bill was a peglegged midget...

Haggis in CMI was tall... and had a red beard...

Murray crossed my mind (admit, it would be funny) but because of the voodoo lady thing... it's probably a woman... and maybe Elaine's sister? (see wikipedia link above)

The Voodoo lady says something like "The past? the future? It's hard to tell." I tend to lean towards a future line, because I don't think Murray and Carla were ever together, in fact, I don't think any of the female characters have talked with Murray.

I think the Elaine's sister thing was a coincidence.

Kate Capsize was set free by you in MI2, after getting her jailed, so unless she holds a grudge on you by making her an outlaw at Phatt Island... (Seems unlikely)

I don't even know how she'd figure out you set her up.

Did you ever speak to Carla about Murray? Maybe when she's drunk at the microbrewery? "The Shkull ish right..."?

Guh, I was just playing Curse about a week before release and totally forgot about Haggis. The crew was pretty pissed about being shipwrecked and having to do all the repairs and even said they were leaving him. Though, for the most part, they seemed pretty calm about it.

The glassblower also mentions his (Morgan's) face being hideously grotesque that some pirates would slit their own throats, but I can't think of anyone that relates to either.

Perhaps the pirate barbers are the pirate hunter(s)?

For some reason I also thought of Wally first, even though it is a girl's voice. Carla didn't even cross my mind, but that certainly is a more plausible guess.

Wally's voice has never been that feminine. He also has never had the "stones" as it were to really be a fearsome revenge seeker. Even as many times as Guybrush has left Wally hanging around waiting for rescue, he still is all too eager to be polite and proper.

"Guybrush Threepwood, I've waited a long time for this !"
"Err, could you wait a little longer ?"

Did anyone else those two last lines felt like a pretty good joke about what happened with the release yesterday :D

Other than that, no idea who that might be, i'll just have fun reading you guy's thoughts and just wait till it's revealed ;)

(by the way, i thought i read in some review that "a copple" of old carachters would be back.. I guess i'm just nitpicking, but i didn't recgnise anyone besides the voodoo lady (and we pretty much knew she'd be in there already).

....Pegnose Pete? .....Largo LaGrande?..... Yeah, I have no idea.

I thought Carla at first, I suppose it could be Kate Capsize, but Carla is my bet.

Elaine looked sad when Guybrush saw her, and she hadn't sailed away with the ship, so I think she's there waiting for Guybrush to come back. I'm not sure why LeChuck is still there with her, but I really wouldn't have thought she's falling for him. He's just going to keep trying no matter how much she rejects him, anyway.
  • edited July 2009
I thought of Carla at the first moment, too. Kate Capsize seems a VERY interesting choice and I'd love to see her make a return, but as has been stated before, the camera angle insinuating a much smaller person than Guybrush doesn't really fit for either of them.

Leaving Wally, but if it truly is him, I think the voice is MUCH too feminin for him.
  • edited July 2009
Maybe it's the female voice actor for LeChuck we keep hearing about ;)
