the first thing that entered my head when i heard the voice was "Kenny Falmouth" from CMI, you remember Kenny, Guybrush put him outta business by drinking all his lemonade... who's with me on this one???

Well, Kenny ended up finding his calling as a cannon dealer and didn't see too upset with Guybrush.

Although if that voice isn't a female character, a teenaged male would also work. Assuming he was 7-9 years old in CMI, he'd be around that age now.

The thing with Wally is that he has a distinctive British accent that is different from the voice at the end of the episode. But then, so did Elaine and they changed it completely in EMI, so I guess anything is possible.

    It's Morgan Le Flay.

Alias? Maybe. Morgan Le Flay? Definitely.

Ok, but Guybrush doesn't know Morgan Le Flay, otherwise he would have recognized the name on the flier. Yet he obviously has some history with the person at the end of the episode.

Morgan Le Flay has to be an alias.

"I've been waiting a long time for this!" is the part that gets me. Would a character that has previously been unknown to Guybrush say this?

A Pirate Hunter confronting the one of the most (in)famous pirates in the Tri-Island areas might. Guybrush's reputation precedes him at this point (see: Planet Threepwood in EMI).

Actually, how funny would it be if Morgan Le Flay was someone who was horribly injured/disfigured while eating at one of those restaurants and has vowed revenge because of it? Hehe.

a better chance with Elaine (hence Elaine saying wolf when she saw him). Overall, I want to know more about what LeChuck will do.

I thought she was saying, "Woof!"

    Was she?

    Anyone?

She was. I had subtitles on at the time.

The voice at the end of game (spoken by the above linked actress Niki Rapp) is different from the voice heard when the Voodoo Lady is channeling Morgan. The latter voice is almost certainly being spoken by Leilani Jones, who does the Voodoo Lady's voice. Leilani Jones, incidentally, is also providing the voice of Carla in the Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition, which may be why some people think the voice resembles Carla's.

It has to be the sword master...
  • edited July 2009
it may even be captain rottinghamand then in episode 2 we will start insult swordfighting.
  • edited July 2009
It's Morgan Le Flay as voiced by Nicki Rapp.

    This is confirmed.

We don't know if Morgan Le Flay is an alias for an existing character or a brand new character, but it's pretty likely that it's a female, given that the voice is incredibly feminine and is done by a woman.

the first person that sprang to mind was the Sword Master

    It was Murray! :D

No but for me I thought of Carla, even if it didn't sound like her.

I just realized it is Morgan Le Flay, it has to be because that scientist guy you defeat gets a copy of the pirate hunter paper and he swears that he'll get his revenge.

Man, you guys are so off base that it's not even funny. Carla? Kate? Wally? No. No. No. See, those are all too *OBVIOUS*. Telltale games is too smart for that, and are instead going for the one character nobody would expect (Much like the Spanish Inquisition). With this mind it can only be one person:

Sybil Pandemick, having travelled back in time thanks to the Time Machine from Sam and Max series 2, now starting her latest career as a pirate hunter!

I have a strange feeling that it could be Mad Marty, idk!
    It's weird, but possible.
  • edited July 2009
    Wally, for sure.

For some reason, the first person that came to mind was
    Kate Capsize
    .

    But Guybrush hasn't really met
    Kate Capsize
. Well, he did but hadn't really spent time with her... unless I'm forgetting something

Guybrush chartered her glass-bottom boat to search for the figurehead of the Mad Monkey and pasted her picture over his wanted poster so that she would get arrested and he could steal her stuff.

Of course! Morgan Le Flay is Elaine! It all makes sense!

    ... er, wait...

    :P

We can all agree by this point that the question is not if it's was Morgan Leflay (which it obviously was) but WHO Morgan Leflay is.

Immediately after people in the island started describing the pirate hunter with all those exaggerations I thought of wally. And even though the voice was a little off I still thought it was wally when the episode ended.

After reading this thread though I changed my mind... specifically it was the mention of Nicki Rapp. In her "twitter" she says: "morgan leflay kicks ass. super cocky- love it!". I can't imagine she is describing wally. So that leaves either Kate or Carla.

I'm hoping it's not Carla because the voice was really off. I'm sure TellTale would have a much more suitable voice for her.
Kate on the other hand, to be honest, I don't recall that much, she was a very minor character in MI2 and I only remembered her after I saw her mentioned in this thread. I think the voice could work with her.
    So I vote for Kate.

I'll leave a window open though for the possibility that Telltale surprises us all.

C'mon guys, it's obvious; That was Abe Lincoln's stone head! Who else could it be? Grover Cleveland's zombie head? Pshaw.

Okay, this is just plain stupid that she talks about that so openly. Now the whole Cliffhanger is ruined :(

Although, Morgan LeFlay could still be an alias of a character we already know. Argh.

By the way, why isn't this thread stickied yet? :)

Morgan Le flay has the names Largo and Marley amongst there.
Any others? I love looking far too much into things!
  • edited July 2009
Also it looks like Le Flay will be a re-occurring character according to http://nickirapp.blogspot.com/
stoked and thankful for another tale to be a part of in Monkey Island!

I thought it was blatantly obvious that it was Morgan Leflay and the whole point of this thread was to determine WHO Morgan LeFlay is.

I for my part thought it was too short of a time inbetween Marquis De Singe recruiting LeFlay and LeFlay actually finding and trapping Guybrush. Ah well.

i agree with the people who think it is wally i havent read the whole thread so someone else might have suggested this but wally could also be the pirate hunter - when you give the flier to 1 of the pirates he mentions that some people have said he is really small! makes sense

ah it could also be larga lagrande - he is really small too and would deffinitly have some unfinished business with guybrush,

Watch the video link posted earlier, I don't know why everyone thought (me included) that the ego perspective alluded to the person speaking being smaller than Guybrush. Watching it again it doesn't seem that way, the person seems to be his size or even taller. So I guess that rules out Wally.

My bet is still on Kate.

I think (and hope) it's Kate.

Anyone else think it's cool that it's the same actress who did Lily in Psychonauts?

It is Carla and Carla was the pirate hunter on the island under a pseudonym, where she was going to kill him after the Doctor ordered her to, but once she saw it was Guybrush and realised he might be her way off the island, she waited and snuck onto the boat after he fixed the winds...

..or am I going crazy? lol

Why would she threaten him then?

maybe still angry about losing insult swordfighting back in MI I? lol. I cant remember alot of the other history about Carla tbh, and how things ended last with her and Guybrush. Think its time to whip out the old games maybe in the wait for the next episode ;p
