Yeah, Monkey Island has no logic in terms of technology. They still use candles and have no television, but yet have lights, theme parks, self loading cannons, auto ships, giants monkey robots, plenty of electricity, grog machines, fire alarms, and knowledge of movies and futuristic things. You can't use something like a time period as evidence to why they can't have an electric chair as the time period in the series seems to have many things we have today.

Don't forget about the elevator in the end of Monkey Island 2. It says online that passenger elevators weren't used until 1857. I know Monkey Island isn't going for historical accuracy so I don't really care when I see stuff that hasn't been invented. But that doesn't mean you have to do it for everything and totally take away that this is a pirate themed game. I wouldn't want to see Guybrush flying in airplanes or getting his own computer. The giant robot always seemed like a BIG stretch to me.

The Giant monkey robot did seem a bit odd. That island just would not be the same without that giant monkey head, so it better be back there if they go to MI in the next two episodes.... I do not even care if its not explained how it returned.

That was one of the major problems with Escape. Monkey Island games are no stranger to dark themes and spooky events. I mean you see piles and piles of skeletons in every game along with mass murder, ghosts, zombies, demons, ect. While Monkey Island has a lot of humor, the core storyline is usually serious. Escape kind of broke that trend by adding too many outrageous things such as a giant monkey island robot. They just throw all these things in without an explanation as why they are there or for what purpose.

Same goes for the clock puzzle in the swamp on Lucre Island, why is that the solution? Tales' storyline on the other hand is pretty serious and will undoubtedly explore much darker territory in the last two chapters. Even the homepage for the fourth chapter just brings an aura of doom and death. This is by far the most serious toned game as it involves true emotion and romance. Everything in the game has an explanation to why from why the manatee eats you right down to origin of Flotsam and its' artifacts.

I must say that the picture on the mainpage right now for the 4th episode is making me excited for the next game that "set" looks like its going to be a really great location.... I hope we get to explore there.

.. yeah, and the lightning system to
    find where Elaine is buried
    in MI3...

Isn't even his quote something like "lightning system from the seventies" or something? :)

I think it was "17th century wiring" or something like that.

"It smells like something's burning... must be this shoddy 17th century electrical wiring."

thats the fine thing about monkey island, they DONT care about historical things.
when guybrush mentions futuristic things i just find it funny, because its original and its genious ^^
what would MI be without insane auto-loading cannons and electrisity? :o

but to the on-topic, ch4 might be swell, i hope stan returns :D ive missed his character :)
and that "i wonder what happens" clip to ch4 was genious xD

The "I Wonder What Happens In..." flashfilms keep getting better and better, so I'll be as sorry to see those come to an end as Tales

Yes, me too. Hopefully there will be a second season of Tales so that we can see more of Majus & Co's brilliant and hilarious animations :)!

Hey, what's Winslow doing in that judge chair anyway.
For the less educated, yes, I was joking.

Just cause their will only be one more chapter after four to do a video spoof, doesn't mean they can't do a "I wonder what happens after tales of Monkey island." I'd still find it funny.

    "It's Your Honor."
    "No,no, call me Stan."

We need Majus to do a MI2 flashfilm like he did for MI1. I think he did a radioplay for it (which is how the SMI flashfilm started). But then he must be a busy man, and I certainly don't have any talent or money to pay him for the trouble.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong - he doesn't seem that kind of guy. He seems to have done the MI flashfilms so far out of the goodness of his heart but he must have other commitments as well.

The judge actually reminds me of Charles L. Charles.

That's Club 41, mate. That pic is the prize that you get from one of the treasure hunting maps except the prize version is interactive (sort of).

Sounds like that French site has messed up on its background info

Jeuxvideo.com didn't messed up with the background info and I'd be very surprised of that, because the site loves the MI series and is very happy with TOMI. They just wrote that the ambiant of the Club41 reminds them of the good old Scumm Bar. Maybe guimero64 just read a bit too fast. ;)

Hope that guy under the ceiling has a button that says: "Ask me about Grim Fandango"

Does the skull on the front page "coming next week" banner remind anyone else of the singing skeleton in "The Corpse Bride"?

I always thought Tim Burton and Danny Elfman would make a SICK Monkey Island movie :P

So you get a look at the gaming lives of jeuxvideo.com sometimes?

P.S: Ecrire avec l'accent francais c'est trop comique.

Actually, it only reminds me of the Voodoo Lady's tarot cards. They have skulls like that on them.

So, apparently Telltale's following the legendary standard set by Sega with the Sega Saturn: "We have this game and we hope you'll enjoy it, and by the way it's out right now!"

The only reason I'd care much about the specific release date is if I wanted to take the day off work for it. :p

I finally made the analogy between the Flotsam Island courthouse and the trial and execution... I feel smart now.
